Baby K, i hear you on trekking around at Christmas time. I am also much happier hosting here. Also, DH hates going to my sisters. Last year we got there, she hadnt so much as cleaned the outside table. I catered her event and spent the night running around sorting everything out. The next day was @ SIL. She did a stunning job but again I was up at 3am cooking for her lunch. I dont mind but he gets upset because I dont sit down for 2 minutes to just enjoy myself. So whether here or out I do as much work. Besides, I LOVE cooking and I do it as a gift of love. I did the turdukken the last time I hosted Christmas. It was ample and we even had some left over for our Boxing Day picnic, we do every year. That year I did the Turdukken and slow roasted lamb shanks. I order them from a butcher in Edenvale. I am collecting mine on the 23rd. John will surprise you before you know it! I think it's just frustration. Evan has also calmed down on the screaching now but some days - OH MAN! I need ear plugs

Kerry, Evan's also down to 2 bottles a day. One in the morning and one at 12 - nap time. He doesnt always finish them. Evan LOVES sticking his finger in MY nose! And I HATE people touching my nose - haha Stunning, that will be a nice tribute. Oh man, your MIL is prize! My MIL also worries about Evan not using toys correctly. She told me I overwhelm him with his toys. He loves his toys and he loves learning to use them properly in his own time. Good luck catching up!!!

Sheryl, your K just is TOO precious!!! Evan's favourite word is There. He also likes say Bye - now. He still doesnt wave unless he wants to I have been going a bit overboard with shopping for the kiddies. Doesnt help that Evan has 2 Christmas parties - 1 at school and 1 at grandpa's golf coutry club. I just need to get an outfit for my niece and nephew. I still need to get the adults gifts.

AFM, no news here really. We have a back yard Really, our lawn has grown great and we had the gardener here yesterday. Evan's 7th tooth cut through. He is running like a crazy thing and he loves rolling things along the floor and kicking his ball. He has been sleeping so well and then last night was AWEFUL. He seemed to be having terrors. Screaming and crying. I could not get him to settle the 1st time, i had to sit with him in my arms until he calmed down and then could put him into bed again. So from midnight till 5 he woke up 4 times. He then slept until almost 8am. I think there are more teeth coming out. He is chewing his fingers non stop and drooling like mad. He also was fussy about dinner last night.

K is cutting another tooth and one came out last week, they just pop and then i see them, she never cries. I did see that they were swollen thats all

K does not slow down, man she really keeps me on my toes this child of mine. I have locked every cupboard now. she reaches everything, she has gone taller and stronger. a month ago or 2, she was pointing to her mouth when you asked her nose and eyes now she points to her ears, head. loves reading her books still but sometimes still chews on them so we read and when i get to the word "hat" she quickly points to her head, cause she knows the hat goes on her head.

still likes to say "okay". everything is okay. loves her big ball still and throw is back and forth to us and runs after it. picks up her ball and says "okay" and carries on. too cute. she blows her flute so nicely and has a good laugh afterwards. rides her bike well too. says ta when we giver her stuff and she gives us things back when we ask her and says "ta". the other day I said "oh shame" she repeated "oh shame". last week i said "oh gosh" she repeated that too

she is doing so well with her swimmign lessons. she swims once a week and loves the water, she has no fear at all. scary child i tell you, not just anyone can take her into the pool. she just puts her head under water and starts kicking. dives of the platform into her dads arms...

I just melt when i get hugs from her. she just puts her arms around me and gives a hug. so now its kisses and hugs....

k is on 2 bottles now, she has one at 2:30pm and then 7pm before bed. then gets up early as 5 onwards but has a little water in her water bottle and then cereal at 7am. so thats good. will start cows milk after the 23 dec....

otherwise no complains about food, she eats all her food as usual, yoghurt and fruit .... i dont have to beg her.

oh i hate mondays, i wish this day over already

I bought K some lego blocks for xmas. she has plenty of toys already. something to open on the day. I bought her and my neice cute xmas stockings. reindeer alice bands.... awhh

i thought i can do the shopping earlier and not rush out on the last hour. I have been buying little things in the last month as and when i see them as well. makes it easier. almost done. the mall was so hectic saturday, everyone has the same idea on shopping earlier. just crazy

I must say though i feel the spirit when i go shopping and seeing the deco. its like I am a child again - LOL. i got nothing for myself just buying the kids pressies, no adults this year

Kery - I had to laugh at your MIL getting angry at K for not being able to understand the fishy game - that is so crazy! seriously!!!

I am so looking forward to xmas - can't wait. We are having xmas eve dinner with dh's family and I am leaving Em with a babysitter, I am a bit nervous about it, but we'll see. We will only leave at 19:30 and she goes to bed around then anyway, so hopefully it will be ok. She will be staying with dh's assistant at work (she used ot au=pair full time but now only babysits and does some night nurse work). On xmas morning, we will go to church with dh family and have tea at his mom's place after and then we having lunch at my sisters place. After lunch, the kiddies will have a quick nap and then we off to my extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc). For lunch we usually go all out and eat for a few days after as well!! We doing tongue, roast lamb, gammon, chicken pie, veg and salads. Have not decided on a dessert yet though.....hmmmm??

Em wore a dress for the first time yesterday since she is mobile (couldn't really put her in dreses while she was crawling) and she looked so cute!! walking around in her little dress . Would not stand still for me to get a photo though

K also did the screaming thing... i just ignored it and it soon went away... she still sorta does it, but no where near as often. Now i just wait till she is quiet before giving her whatever it is... so she just goes "da" and points....

She does it for her bottle, a cup of water, her food, her books on the shelf... whatever really

My new problem is her dummy, she has started biting holes in them, she has gone through 4 in two weeks now! I mean seriously! and she doesn't like the Nuk shape ones, she likes the Avent / MAM dummies and i havent seen any cheap no name ones like that!

Chreche closes on the 15th, so she will be there until then, and my parents finish work on the 9th so they will be available, also her god mom is a school teacher, so theres options should my parents need a break. and the company i work for is closed from the 22nd, so it really is only a week anyhow)

everytime she spends time at the MIL she gets crammed full of SH1T, so we try limit that to as rarely as possible, because we land up dealing with it all night long after. We go there for supper on thursday nights, but then at least we are around to redirect the chocolate pudding and buiscuits and...

adding to that the last time we went round MIL had bought a magnetic fishing set for K, you know the little fishing rod with a magnet on the end and the metal fishies? and she actually got agro with K coz Kaelyn wouldn't play with it like you are supposed to... she basically took the fishing rod and was walking around hitting stuff with it! The toy has a 3+ age restriction as the fish are really small for petes sake!

anyways i see our network is working here (for the moment, so i am going to dive into my work and get as much done as possible). Have a great day ladies!

ja sorry, been too lazy and tired to write. Roll on Christmas I tell ya, I've had enough of 2011.

We also having the fam to us and I was going to do a gammon but actually I think I might do the terdukken, I've always wanted to do that! Have you done it before Cols? Then we'll make it a 'cold' Christmas this year so salads instead of hot veggies. Its my family only, Si's family are all away this year it seems. But I'm looking forward to hosting it and not having to drive from pillar to post so everybody can see us and John.

Funny, I just bought a new tin of nido today and stood there for a few minutes wondering if I should or not. John still LOVES it but I have been slowly introducing cows milk and touch wood he has been fine. In fact I can't remember when last he spat up/ vommed from his bottle. I think this might be his last tin of nido.

STILL no walking but damn he is soooo close. Just when I think he's going to do it, he goes down on his haunches and then crawls somewhere. These babas of ours certainly teach us patience hey? Only when he's ready will he do something. But we had a playdate on Mon and his 9-month old friend came through and I think he will walk before Christmas. It was so interesting to see how different babies can be - Gabriel has no fear and crawls/ cruises everywhere but is very jerky and falls alot. Whereas John is super cautious and only does something once he has absolutely mastered it and so doesn't look nowhere near as jerky, but of course he is 6 months older.

Damn he does this horrible screeching shout/ scream thing and it is driving me up the wall. He does it almost all the time. I don't know what to do, I've tried saying no in a firm voice, walking away, smacked his hand (shame that didn't work, he is too young for that kind of discipline and I felt awful). What do you girls think I should try? He is so fiercely independent and gets so frustrated when he can't do something or I am getting his food ready and he is getting impatient.

Anyways, shame Kerry, hope the networks come back, so sucky that you've had it problems. What are you doing with K when you and DH are working in December? Will she go to MIL again?

the problem of course is that all our files are saved on the network drive... so they can be backed up at night... so we cant to a thing... again... arrrrrrr

K has found a huge dog teddy i have and dragged it up to our lounge... then she runs at it from a good distance and dives down onto it... then bites it while she down gets up (with it in her mouth) and then drops it and starts again... its hilarious to watch.

Won't drink Nido or real milk as her bottle... it has to be S26 but only has two a day so i am not complaining too much.

We thought we would be smart and spent a day or two twaching her where her nose is... so now when you ask her "wheres your nose? " she promptly stiks her finger in it! and doesn't stop till she looses interest. (that is of course if you can tie her down long enough to hear you ask her)

For christmas i will be cooking a Glazed gamon with all the sides... and i am thinking maybe a small turkey too as it was a favourite of my uncle who passed on this year (and he was always charged with making it)

and thinking of rice pudding as a desert (of couse not in place of the christmas cake)

OMW Kerry!!! That is INSANE !!! Gee I would have given up the day as a bad idea.

I hear you on Network issues - thank God I packed my 3g in this morning or I would be going insane. Our IT dont know what the issue is or when it will be resolved...

Evan's doing well. A week of sleeping through. He still has a cough and the last 2 nights he has been upset @ 4am but then gone back to sleep until after 6am He has cut tooth # 7 and his back gums are still red and swollen. He still chews everything. His 2 new favourites, putting my hair in my face and then brushing it away with his hand so he can tickle my eyelashes and 2 running on the bed and then fake diving / falling on it! He actually pointed to some baby body parts in his baby book. I asked him off the cuff where the baby's tongue was and he pointed straight at the picture and said there. "there" and "daddy" are still his favourite words and he has learnt to nod. So he runs around nodding his head now Occasionally he says "Bye" but still only waves when he wants.

He has had 2 blood noses from falling. He RUNS everywhere. Nothing is a walk or a waddle. No just full on sprinting! So twice he has fallen and boofed his nose. It wasnt bad. Just a little blood in the nose but it is obviously very sore. He no longer drinks Nido. Just FC milk. He really enjoys it. He also drinks loads of water day and night. No complaints there He is eating very well.

He had his Christmas photo's at school today and on Tuesday they are having their Christmas party. So I had to send him a R 50 gift to school. I had ordered a whole bunch of books on Kalahari for him but they havent arrived in time so I got him a little plastic wheelbarrow with a bucket etc. He loves his dad's big wheelbarrow, especially when he's being pushed around in it!

What are your plans for Christmas? I have the family @ our place this year. I am doing the Duck-in-a-chicken-in-a-turkey roast, a gamon and roast veggies etc. My dad will do the italian meats and cheeses, I will figure out a starter and then desert MIL will do something and my dad has bought the giant italian bread / cake thing he buys every year (yummy).

Other than that, no real news my side...
