Hi ladies
Well, D now weighs 8.9kg and is 76cm tall.
The Paed was very happy with her progress and her eating so we can go onto cows milk now
(although he suggested we try Parmelat first to ensure she doesn't lose any weight cos she's still 500g under)

COLS - Hope you are feeling better! Sorry to hear about your SIL but hopefully they have caught it in time, will keep you and her in our prayers.

BabyK - Hope the party went well sounds like you had an awesome time baking at least

Well Kaelyn's birthday was fantastic!

At the Zoo on friday she really had a ball, at first she sat contently in her pram but after about 20 minutes she wanted out.. so we took her out and she walked most of the way.... following us. Every now and then she would get distracted by a pine cone or tree branch or something, but we let her explore it all... thats what we were there for after all! if she saw an animal she would point and shout "DA!" with great exitement.

Then her party on sunday was a real blast, she was so happy and the weather was perfect... she ran around visiting everyone the whole day! was too busy to even stop for lunch!

The only thing that went wrong is that i developed major tooth ache on saturday. I went to the Dentist yesterday and he took one look took x-rays and said... its my wisdoms and theres nothing he can do... I have to go to a specialist to have them removed, two are badly impacted, one has broken in half (thats whats so sore) and the other is lying under my gum... on its side. . Unfortunately the specialist can only see me on the 7th and do the surgery on the 9th...

ah well, lesson learn... visist dentist more often...

anyways gotta run... took friday and monday off so now my desk looks like a tornado zone... and lets not even mention my e-mails!

Happy Birthday to all the toddlers

Cols - sorry to hear about your SIL!

D's birthday was on Fri, so went with DH & MIL - were planning on going to Butterfly World, but as we arrived there, D just fell asleep in the car, so we carried on driving til she woke up and ended up at the wine farm where we got married in Franschoek, just as she woke up.
It was raining and there was a nice fire going, so we decided to do a wine tasting, have a cheese platter instead
We'll go back to Butterfly World when the weather is nicer so we can see more of them.

My mom and I baked up a storm on Thurs eve - sweet potato cake, custard slices, date & marie biscuit fingers, rice crispie treats etc etc

Sat was wonderful - just had family around at MIL's house - loads of pink, purple & white balloons
FIL (who is a chef) made all the savouries (scrumptious! )

Took loads of photos, but now can't find the cable for the camera, so will have to wait for pics

D is still only walking when holding your finger (will sometimes take 3 steps to you if she's confident, but always on her tippy-toes)
She has started to say Mama finally (vocab now consists of Dadada, Nanana and Mamama)
But she does the cutest thing now - if you ask her what's in her mouth, she opens her mouth and sticks out her tongue for you - and if she has something in her hand, she will show you that there is nothing in her mouth before you even ask)

Cols, strongs to your family in dealing with all the insecurities and ups and downs of this horrible news.

DH's aunt was diagnosed few months back with breast cancer. She also had one breast removed immediately, then had chemo for 4 chemo sessions with 2 week intervals, and is currently getting radiation, then it's back fro her last 4 chemo sessions. She is taking it like a real trooper, took the hairloss bit hard, and the nausea and feeling icky was bad. But on the good side, her twin sister is the one administering the chemo, she's working at radiology. The ladies getting chemo on sundays get very spoiled, they have people giving them pedi's, baking muffins etc trying to make it easier for them. Unfotunately the cancer diagnoses came few days before the passing of the tragic twin sister's daughter and fiancee (which you all know about).

Good for you driving to go visit, your family is going to need all the love and support they can get.

Sorry to hear about the tonsilitis. Iz just had a runny nose and through the night it turned into a stuffy one which irritated her. DH is working this weekend so I kinda feel your pain on the DH not being there!

Babyk - your cake looks yummy and it sounds like you have everything under control She is 35, i dont know the stage etc but she is having the whole right breast and glands plus half her thyroid removed on wednesday. Apparently the type of tumor is contained but they will only know for sure in 2weeks time what the pathology results are. For now they dont think she will need chemo. The lump is big, about 5cm in diameter. I felt it, it feels like the lumps you get when you're engorged with bm. Her llo is 2months old and she's just stopped breast feeding. The thyroid's been an issue for just over a year now...

Pm - you're 1tough cookie evan has tonsilitis again im staying at the inlaws tonight cos i came to see sil and them (in alberton) so they didnt want me driving alone at night. Evan is coughing in his sleep. Cant wait for barry to get home tomorrow from pe

I proved to be stronger than the 13 year olds, but phew, glad thats now over.

Iz woke up with a snotty nose and some serious sneezing and if I heard correctly wheezing. Abigail has flu, so I seriously hope its not the start of something, either way I dosed her with Demazin. My child just cannot handle another batch of antibiotics. I'm so with you Cols, seriously, can we try stay out the paeds rooms for longer than a month please?!?!?!?!

Aaaaargh I just typed a long message and lost it! So doing Jeanine’s trick now and typing in word first.

I’m getting things ready for John’s party tomorrow, I can’t wait, I’m so excited! I’ve made the cheesecake and this afternoon I’m making a pecan and ginger cake with dulce de leche topping, yum yum.
Off to have my brows and lashes tinted now, I found a salon down the road, within walking distance! I really hope I like her as it will be awesome to be able to walk to my beauty therapist.
Then its off to the best spar in the world – Hobart spar – for some quiches and things and then I need to pick up chairs etc from my folks and then back to set it all up and bake.
John is progressing at an amazing rate, its like the crawling unlocked everything, he even looked like he wanted to climb into the dishwasher yesterday but I closed it before he got too adventurous. He’s pulling himself up on everything and standing against everything so I think the cruising will start soon. I’m so proud of my little guy.

Cols, that’s terrible news, I’m so sorry to hear that. Is she Barry’s sister? How “early” is the cancer and how old is she? Love to you and Barry, thinking of you guys. I can’t believe you are still sick! Your poor body, I think you and Evan should snuggle under the duvet and watch dvds all day and just rest.

PM and Jeanine – congrats on the parties, they looked totally awesome! Iz looked like a real princess and I loved Willem’s cake.
