Ok my family sucks! My brother is always offering to help but I never take him up on it so I decide to call him now and ask him to get a couple of things for the baby and he says “it depends what it is” What the hell does he think I’m gonna ask for? A yacht? A jet? I tell him it’s just blankets, cot sheets and hooded towels and he’s all ja, ok. It’s such as effort to fork out like R300 considering that all he contributed my entire pregnancy is a couple of outfits at the shower. Geez, what a shitty family! Mark wouldn’t have minded buying that since he has bought practically everything else but I just figured if they offering why not let them buy things. I’ve done the sums. Mark and I have spent a total of R14 675.73 so far on all the pregnancy related things. The gynae visits alone and bed booking came to R9 357.10. This is cold, hard cash. So my pathetic family can go jump in a lake, we’ve gotten this far without them.

Sorry ladies I had to vent, if I don’t vent then I’ll cry and I prefer not to upset my son.

Ok, I need to get back to my portfolio, night!

Evening ladies!

Eve- I’m sure you can request not to have an internal. Surely they can’t force you to have one at every visit. I’m going to tell them that I’ll consider it from 36 weeks but not a day sooner.

Lucy- London’s grown nicely! Always good news to know you and baby are healthy.

G Baby- Geez, your little one was tiny! Do you know your baby’s current weight?

Mrs SH- A lekker holiday, I’m jealous! Glad you could relax. Don’t tell me you left kitty at home? I’m not sure how much clothes is enough. I have way more 0-3 months than newborn and I keep thinking I need a few more newborn babygrows.

Re cot blankets, I have 10 (2 fleece, 2 cellular and 6 receiving) as well as a duvet set and I don’t think that’s enough either. I have a sleeping bag and was told not to use it till baby is 6 months and don’t use the duvet is the first 3 months either. Can’t remember why though. I told Mark that I’m panicking about baby’s temperature so I plan to get three different thermometers- 1 to check his body temp, 1 to check the bath water and 1 for the room’s temp. Mark thinks I’m insane but I’ll rather be insane and know baby is fine than stress about it all the time.

Yip, I’m at home. This is my fourth week of being unemployed and while I’ve had lots of assignments and a portfolio to keep me busy (not to mention the exams that start next week) I still feel so useless. I miss having a job and earning my own money. This is the first time in years that I’ve been jobless and it sucks! Mark reminds me daily that I wasn’t coping with the work and studying during the pregnancy but I guess that just the way I am.

If you figure out how many blankets let us know.

Hi ladies,

Well we just had the best time at Boggoms. We went for long walks on the beach, played Scrabble, ate fantastic food and rested out. It was so nice spending time with DH and Fritz (our dog).

Our maid handwashed all the baby clothes from newborn - 3 months in Annique washing powder and softner. Next time I'm putting it through the washing machine still with the Annique stuff. When that's finished, I'll start using our normal washing powder etc with Stasoft - the baby one.

Anyway, I'm stressing that we don't have enough clothes. We have:

7 x newborn shortsleeve baby grow/vests
2 x newborn baby grows
1 x newborn fleece jacket
3 x 0-3 month long sleeve baby grow/vest
2 x 0-3 month short sleeve baby grow/vests
5 x 0-3 month baby grows
2 x 0-3 month trousers with feet
4 x 0-3 month long sleeve tops (button and other)
2 x 0-3 month jackets / tops

And then what are you ladies using for cot blankets? I have 1 fleece blanket, two cot blankets, 4 very light receiving blankets. What are you suppose to use? I also have a baby sleeping bag.

I told DH I have no idea if it's enough, I'm freaking out that I won't know when baby is hot or cold or what to dress him in...

Anyway, I'm sure we'll have it sorted out soon.

Lucy, I saw your photos on Facebook and I'm so jealous of you cupboard! You'll never have to buy any clothes ever! That's so awesome!! I'm not all that tired, but also wake up at nights for at least 1 hour these days. And then my brain won't switch off!

Eve - good luck with the studies. We were considering the eco nappies, but then started buying all the nappies on sales and now we'll see how far that takes us.

Alex - are you at home now? How's the not working going?

Ronel - glad you had a great weekend. I also think other people's kids are not the same as your own.

Juandre - yes good ole Durbs with the septic tanks. Whilst we were looking into moving to Durbs a few years back, the estate agent mentioned septic tanks and I couldn't believe they still had that up there! I was more fascinated by that than the house he was showing us at the time!

Anyway, I can't remember who else typed - so sorry!
