@ Meags: The course sounds great, let us know how it goes. Are you still looking for pregnant women so you can attend the birth? My brother's fiance is going to pop on the 5th Aug and she was saying she wanted some one to hold her hand incase my brother faints. (It rings true the bigger they are the harder they fall, he is 6,5ft)

@ Claudia_B: Are you in Cape Town? I think I am going to arrange some thing when I get back. Who would be keen?

Maybe tmi but I started bleeding again after stopping at 5 weeks, G is 6.4weeks. There is no period pains should I be worried? Only going to the Gyn on the 5th July.

We are either still going through a growth spurt or G is waking up cause his face is cold. He wakes up feeds for 10mins then is out again, but it was every 1.5hours last night till I held him, then it was 4 hours.

We off to a friend's baby's first birthday today. Wow time flies. Soon my baby will be there.

Good grief we have big babies on the forum!! My James was born at 3.9kgs and has been putting on roughly 250g-300g a week, so he is now about 5.5kgs. The clinic sisters are happy with hi gains and he is happy with plenty of wee and poo nappies. He is still in his 0-3month clothes, although the towelling nappies make them snug. The few times I have had him in disposables he looks soooo much smaller:)

I wish I could join for a meet up too, I get bored now at home. James seems to have settled quite nicely, although he has his days when he seems to want to feed continuously. I have realised though that I love breast feeding. The first few weeks sucked and I just kept at it because I wanted to give him food made especially for him, but once you getover those hard parts it becomes so easy. I dont have to think about how he latches anymore, I just shove him in the general direstion! My breasts dont hurt (unless he decides to play games with my nipple which he does occasionally), I feed him now at night while I am lying down, so often I fall alseep and wake up with him snoring next to me, so I pick him up and put him back in his own bed. It means that the 2am and 5am feeds dont feel terrible anymore and dont bother me, I'm feeling much more rested:)

As a result I amgoing to start working on weekends in July already. I still need to sort out a nanny for when I start back with patients during the week, but my hubby can be responsible for James a few weekends:)

I'm busy trying to organise going to babygym and starting with aquatots. My friend wanted me to join toptots with her, but I think for now babygym will give me a few extra tools and I'll do the toptots in the new year:)

I guess the thing is that everyone says it gets easier and you dont believe them, but then it does:)

@yoza - my son often scratches his face. I try to keep his nails short by chewing them (otherwise you can get baby clippers). My son was born 3.8kg and weighed 5.7kg at 6w. He gains roughly 500g a week so he must weigh just under 7kg ATM. He is very big on the charts though. Your paed or clinic should have given you a chart to show what percente your baby is for height and weight so that you know how he compares. Ask them next time about it. As for feeds James usually goes 4-6hrs on the first shift and then does stretches of 3-4 hours. Last night however he did 10hrs for the first time. I am over the moon! Dunno if that helps as mine is younger than yours. My friend's 14w old stretches 10-12h at night I know but she is a VERY easy baby.

LO had a slight cough, so i decided not to wash him last night.

Dear Lord, she was restless thruought the night,DH said we should take her to the doctor.

i washed her today, except the head, she's got thick hair that take time to dry

I hope she'll have a good sleep today

Congrats Meags - that sounds like a great opportunity!! I've heard only good things re: Happiest Baby on the Block.


Yoza - sounds like your baby is doing great. If I'm not mistaken - most babies double their birth weight around 4 months so your little one is on track!! My girl was 2.8kg at birth and she doubled her weight ages ago - at 12 weeks she was 6.6kg's. If baby is happy there is nothing to worry about. My little one is a really chubby baby but I know she will lose it once she gets mobile so I'm not to worried at all.

Guys, did you see the snow on the JHB skyline (LOL, JK) - last night Lia went to sleep at 8h20 (no pacing with her for hours, whoop whoop!!) and only woke up once at 3am, drank and went straight back to sleep and then slept until 7h20. She then had a 1.5 hour morning nap which is unheard of - she usually does the 10-30 minute thing. I'm seriously impressed but I KNOW that babies change constantly, and it could be a fluke so I won't get too excited!

Unfortunately I won't be able to do the get together - a wee bit far to go with Lia hating carseat at the moment and it is my toddler's naptime so I try to have him home for it or he can get whiny or cranky which won't be pleasant.

Hi again, can you ladies tell me where you bought your little one's taglets please and what brand they are? I have only seen the baby sense one and didn't like it. Thanks.
