file Newborn and baby advice

The only thing I miss about those terrible newborn months is
1)cuddling a 4kg instead of 10kg baby in my arms and

2)her looking into my eyes whilst breastfeeding(yes, i do miss BFing, believe it or not. When she gets really restless and no-one can soothe her, I still sometimes put her to the breast and she sucks away even tho there's nothing coming out-guess it's the comfort that calms her down)

3)that she didn't wriggle away to crawl away & destroy something or the other.

4)Also miss not having to keep a CONSTANT eye on her cos she might fall or bump her head against the table or hit her head on the floor during one of her tantrums or fall of the bed or or or.

Other than that, am loving watch her develop and become a little destroyer. I loooove home decor so my house is full of magazines like HABITAT and TOP BILLING (which by the way, i just buy cos they look good on a coffee table), and scatter cushions and those vases with decorative balls in them...boy does she love pulling apart my very carefully decorated coffee table!!!  Am having trouble accepting that i may have to put all that stuff away soon so she doesn't get hurt :(

Ladies, just realised we all have (unless gave birth REALLY early) Aries babies. They are really very demanding and stubborn and let u know about it when unhappy! Love them tho! Will send u all a link to an article about Aries children that had me laughing and nodding in agreement.

Elam has shown absolutely ZERO interest in her toys so far so we've kind of lain off buying her more toys to look at in disdain before grabbing my cellphone or the remote control and slobbering all over it instead

But now I feel guilty hearing about how your babies are learning to play with puzzles and putting balls into holes! OMW! Going to go look for that one at Reggies this aftenoon. will be sooooo happy if she actually takes to it! These kids really do grow & develop at their own pace.

Oh no Kanyo82, that's terrible! But we will never see every little thing that they do. You could have been a SAHM and gone to the loo for a minute and have missed it, It's just that there would have been nobody to have told you that you missed it. So take heart in the fact that you will miss some things - it's inevitable. And when you see her take steps, then those will be her first! Because those are the ones that you saw, and those are the ones that are important!

Adri, Kara is so cute! Good luck with exams! Have been wondering where you are. I know what you mean about the time. I missed the deadline for my research proposal last year so I have to re-register and am just wondering if I'm ever going to be able to do it. At least you're almost done!!! :woohoo:

Claudia_B, it is so cute watching them chew and swallow. Emily is now throwing the food she doesn't want on the floor. It's awful. I bought those little round carrots from Woolies because I was sure they would be a hit, and served them up ever so proudly. Madam gave me this really rebellious look, picked up one, gave it a mafia-look once-over and, making sure I was watching what she was doing, threw it onto the floor.

We have one of these stupid little Chicco toys that has a hole in it where you can put balls in and then they fall to the bottom and it lights up and goes pring pring pring. Anyway, Emily's finally getting the balls in the hole. Going to start giving her puzzles now - thanks for the idea!

Hi all

I know it's been a while, but I'm still around...life is just super duper hectic at the moment, being a mom, working full time and writing exams is no joke! But I'm done with exams on the 21st and then I will NEVER EVER EVER have to write an exam again (that is if I pass all my subjects of course).

I would have loved to join you on monday, but I'm working :(...would have been awesome to see how all the little ones have grown up! But enjoy!

Kara is a real cutie! No more cholicky baby at all, just all smiles!! She's pulling herself up and cruising along the furniture...quickly becoming a little girl. She did have problems with ear infections, so she got grommets last wednesday, and since that she has been SO happy!! I'm so glad we did it as we can see how much better she is.

Glad to see all is well with all of you! Will join in on the conversation a bit more once I'm done with my exams! Please don't dissappear to another thread without letting me know!!!

xx

Hmm seems like James is a lightweight:) He is still in his 6-9month clothes. At last weigh in he was only 8.5kgs:), but he is so healthy. With BLW he is finally tucking into most of his food with gusto. Its really funny watching him "chew" and swallow. He still has no teeth:)

He is just interested in standing nowadays. Even when I'm breastfeeding now he tries to stand. He lands up with his bum in the air, head down latched on. Its pretty funny:)

Hes also now figured out what he is meant to do with puzzle pieces etc.. He tries to put them into holes, unsuccessfully, but at least hes not just eating them anymore:)

Talking? Hes a real blether. Talks all the time, just not real words. I think hes almost got mamma down, because whenever he is irritated now he starts going mammamama, and crawling for me.

@ Scribbligal I poached my nanny from the hospital that I work. She was the cleaning lady in the ICU and paeds wards and was wonderful with the babies. She is lovely and so far so good:)
