Thanks for a lekker swaddling session and tea/biscuits. I had a really good time. Andri and Pinky, do you two have a sneaky route? Because you both turned left where I turned right, and we were all going in the same direction...

Meags, excuse my ignorance, but how exactly do they get the eggs out...? I wish I'd thought of donating a few years ago, when there were more than enough to go round, but I'm now at the age when I need every egg I have (not that I'm planning to use these eggs any time soon, but if I was planning to use these eggs any time soon I'd need every one of them).

Claudia_B, I am already doing two more loads of washing a week than I used to before Emily came along. With all the pooing and puking that goes on, she seems to make more washing than her parents. I'm now on a load a day. So I'm not sure how I'm going to cope if I decide to buy the cloth ones. Wish I had a full-time maid... But I'm going through disposable nappies faster than I can buy them at the moment. So it's worth thinking about it. Did you buy everything online?

Hey Ladies!
Glad you had a great meetup - I wish I could have made it too! Hope you guys took photo's!! :)

Lia went for her 12 week vaccination yesterday - she cried and cried. It was aweful. She seemed fine afterward though. My little chubber weighs in at 6.6kg's and is 60cm long.

Good luck with the whole process Meags - like you say, a gift you give to others and a nice gift in return!!!

Claudia_B - I hate to say it but I had plenty of that when I breastfed my son. This time around I honestly don't give a continental and I won't let it get to me. Don't let it stop you from having your mommy group if you are enjoying it otherwise, seriously - feed your baby when you usually would and remember breastfeeding isn't something to feel ashamed about, you are providing great food for your baby, and comfort and a whole lot of good stuff. The other ladies will get use to you b/feeding. Are you the only one who still b/feeds in the group? At least we had one or two other mommies who breastfed. Perhaps you could switch to another class/ group if you feel uncomfortable? So ironic isn't it, many bottle fed mommies say they're made to feel bad and so are many b/feeding mommies - I guess it's a case of "you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't" :S

Crazylove, how is LO's nose? If it really gets bad and baby cannot breathe nicely / can't drink milk properly, you can try NoseFrida (Dischem, about R80) - it is a bit gross if you are squeamish but when my LO could hardly breathe through her nose it was really helpful. You basically use it to suction the snot from your baby's nose before they feed... not very elegant but like I say if baby can't drink or breathe properly, you might want to give it a bash.

Des - we didn't leave the heater on at night and I don't use the underfloor heating much - and the temperature in our room was 9 degrees yesterday morning! BRRRR! I had Lia bundled up too but those little hands were frozen. She sucks on them too so spit and cold = freezing purple handies!

Zodwa - how is LO's tummy, any better??

Lucy - winds are the worst - luckily as baby grows bigger their tummies mature and they get less bothered by it. Until then you just have to try different burping positions, perhaps bicycling legs and things like gripe water etc if you want.

Welcome back Zulu! Sounds like you are really having a rough time. Hopefully things settle down a bit and everybody is feeling better soon.

Hello Abbie!!! How are you coping with the two little ones?? I also have two kiddies, my son is 2y4m and my daughter is 12 weeks.

How did work go Nicky - and leaving Liebe at creche?? I hope you are coping ok, I'm sure it only gets easier *hugs*

Good Luck with your assignments Bronz!

Sorry if I missed anybody but I didn't go very far back in the thread!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend ladies, with loads of sleep! lol

well Des, it is quite involved. there is a LONG form to fill in about grandparents, illness, heights!! weights!! etc etc. and about your parents and siblings and your feelings, characteristics, talents, studies etc.

then there is a psychological screening.
and a gynae check up.
then a family will choose you (anonymous and no adult photos of you) and then you are put onto the pill to regulate your cycle with the recepient (sp?) and you have to inject yourself daily and go for scans and then they will take the eggs out and voila! you're done :)

I have always thought about surrogacy as for the last few years I am DYING to be pregnant but dont feel QUITE ready for the baby!! I know surrogacy is very involved and difficult etc etc.

so then egg donation stemmed from there.
I guess since I flush my eggs down the toilet each month at the moment, may as well give someone else the gift of life :)

apparently there is no effect or anything on fertility from this procedure.
so I'll be on the list only for a short while now as from September I definitely want to keep away from the pill and start preparing for a baby.

Then I guess once I have a baby, I might donate eggs again between babies.

plus you get R6000 for donating which is a nice 'gift' :)

@Desiree: Thank you for having us there.

Thanks Ladies for a great avi, so good to put faces to names.

@Meags: Great demo, I will try swaddle him like that tonight and see how he does.

@Claudia_B: Wow, never thought that would be the case. I have also received some funny comments from people when they find out that i am breastfeeding.

This weekend I have to sit down and finish my assignments. Been so bad have two that are very over due. Boring weekend.

@Meags - is donating eggs a pretty involved process? what made you decide to do it?

My beautiful baby boy, Connor Troy, was born on 20 March 2010 and my 2nd gorgeous boy, Cullen Reece, was born on 2 September 2011 - I am very blessed indeed
