I meant to mention.. sometimes when Lia is just very tired and tries to comfort suck and there is still too much milk coming out.. she fusses, pulls off, goes back on, sucks a bit, pulls off goes back on. Now if only she'd take the darn dummy because clearly the mummy dummy ain't doing its job lol.

ScribblingAl - I didn't even know Nando's did veggie stuff - I guess I haven't tried other takouts for years, thanks for the ideas. When we stayed in Bryanston years back there was a little thai place that made the most amazing veggie curries... mild and yummy, pity the place closed down. I don't mind Lia not sleeping during the day, its just that sometimes she is obviously tired and she screams blue murder until I shhhh and rock her to sleep, 10 minutes later she will wake up and start all over again. In the meantime my poor son is running around like a 2 year old and I keep telling him to be quiet because the noise wakes Lia up. I must say though, I was impressed with the sleeps - she slept from 9 last night until 4h15 this morning! She'd fed at 7h30 - that's one hell of a long time to go without food. Today though she has been eating 2 hourly and niggling the whole time again... she was happily awake for just over and hour and then the yawning started and the constant fall asleep, wake up scream cycle until an hour ago.. *cringe* now she's finally taking a nap . I'm wondering if it isn't her 12 week growth spurt or something.. who knows. She doesn't seem ill or anything but permanently over stimulated and tired.. I guess her naps are short but I always expect her to be rested when she wakes up.. but clearly 30 minutes of sleep isn't enough to refresh her. Oh well.

I wonder how zulu is doing.

Friday's good for me too. Will really try to be there on time. I really struggle to get to places on time... Don't know how other people do it.

What are you ladies planning for Father's Day? Really want to do something nice as it will be our first Father's Day.

Bronz, Emily often does that movement, sometimes with the nipple still in her mouth... I reckon she's uncomfortable, may be a wind or something.

Jacadebra, if Emily slept from 10h30 until 5h45 I would quite happily trade the day time sleeps. Take out: Nandos (lekker veg burger and also they do "veggie" strips and rice if you ask for it - add spinach, it's great), Steers (the best chips), Chinese (the store down the road does the most amazing chilli tofu and Chinese veg), Spar's deli, Woolies, Del Forno does really great pastas and salads (and pizzas)... that help at all?

Thats the odd thing it was happening in the middle or towards the end. His face would go red and crunch up and he would tense up a bit then pull away breathe, then go back to the boob. I think it must have been something I ate, he does not seem to be doing it today.

Friday at one is good for me.

@ Bronz ditto what jacadabra said. If your letdown is too strong he will feel like he is choking and come off the breath to breathe (imagine someone pouring a full bottle of juice into your mouth at full speed. To deal with this you can either express a little milk from the breast before feeding or feed him lying down so that gravity stops your milk from spraying out:)

I've also found that if James has a bit of wind he gets fussy on the breast. I take him off wind him and then try again.

Hello Ladies
Haven't been around much - been hectic! After being much less crampy I think I ate something that affected Lia on Friday - she was awake and cranky from like lunch time until 12 in the evening. She seemed crampy and kept falling asleep and waking up crying 5 minutes later... rock, shhh, calm her down, repeat, the entire time. It was hectic. Yesterday she was also struggling to stay asleep - yet yawning the entire time.. but when she eventually konked out at 10h30 last night.. she LUCKILY slept until 5h45 which was amazing. Today has been better thank goodness.. not great, but less cranking.

Oh Nicky.. how hectic. Good luck with taking Liebe to creche for a bit tomorrow. I think babies take it much better than the mommies... at least you love your job - that's a good thing.. having to go back to a job you hate and leaving baba would such badly.

Claudia - I also go back in when she starts waking and I put my hand on her tummy and rock her (she is in a camp cot next to my bed) and shhh and she usually goes back to sleep but sometimes I get to her too late (am with my son) and if she is already totally awake this won't work. Ah well. I also leave Lia's hands by her face although she sometimes gets so carried away trying to suck them that she flings them around and actually wakes herself up. She hates being swaddled too.

Meags - I would be totally lost without shushing - that's how I usually get Lia to sleep. It's keeping her asleep which is another story lol. I won't be able to make your demo as my son needs to be napping around then and that's the only time I can actually get cooking and stuff like that done. It would have been great to meet you all, another time maybe

ScribblingAl - where do you guys get takeout... I find it hard to get nice veggie takeout - so our version of takeout is Spar food. The fact that I'm not big on pizza doesn't help I guess lol. The broadachres spar makes the most devine stuff - they even had fresh pumpkin pie the other day.. delicious. When we had my son I think we lived off woolies ready meals - but now this time around I have tried to keep cooking to make sure my son at least gets a balanced meal in - buying for 3 from woolies is also a rip if you do it every night so that's also a factor lol.

Glad everybody is having such great outings! Don't you find that your baby seems to sleep better when out and about in the daytime than he/she does at home?? I've found that a few times.. very odd, one would think the stimulation would mean the opposite!

I've had the most horrible thing crop up - Lia use to fall asleep in the car but these days she screams blue murder in it! I was out today and I had to pull over at a petrol station, take her out and rock her until she was calm and then put her back in again.. this after she was screaming for 5 minutes. I use to put her in there tired and with a full tummy and she would pass out like a charm but this is no more. What a pity.

Hey Bronz, glad Graeme is at least gaining! Yay for speaking to DH in the US! When he pulled away at the breast - how long had he been latched? Perhaps your "letdown" was a bit forceful, which means the milk sprays out and it is too much to handle so they sometimes unlatch or gag/ splutter??

Good luck with the bottle feeds Crazylove... I'm sure LO will take to it soon enough - very stressful.

Glad the Emla patches worked Des! I should try and track some of them down.
