Hi ladies

I have been quiet... guess why?? TELKOM!!!!

Hope you are all doing really well!

@Meags... I would also love to see what you have learned... it will help a lot as Karla does not like sleeping in the day and she is SOOOOOO tired though...

Karla had her vaccs on Wednesday... my heart was breaking when she started crying, she has never screamed so loud!!! Luckily she didn't get any side effects or a fever or anything, just a bit niggly...

I started with some exercise at the Berario Recreation centre. The lady that did our ante natal classes (she is a midwive) is having them every tuesday and thursday morning. I went on thursday and I am REALLY stiff today!! What a lot of fun that was, looking forward to next week!!

Well enjoy the weekend girls!

ciao!

@ Jacadabra yes he sleeps for 3 hours, but it took me ages to figure out how to get him to do that. Basically like Meags mentioned:- at about 1/2pm I feed. I then notice that he is yawning and looking sleepy so I swaddle him tight with his hand at his mouth. I then gently rock till his eyes close then put him in his cot. This generally wakes him a little, so I stand with my hand on him giving deep pressure untill his eyes close. I then leave him. He generally stirs within about 15 mins so BEFORE he starts to cry (if I left him he would wake up fully and cry) I go back in, tuck him up tiight again and stand with my hand on him again. I sometimes do this 2-3times but it always gets him to have one long sleep. This is good, because he seems to have better nights with at least one good day slepp as opposed to catnaps. I dont give him his dunny anymore because he spits it out and then wakes him up when it sits under his mouth or underneath him, but put his taglet in his arms. He seems to be soothed by the softness of the fabric.

anyway all, need to get ready, going to friends for a braai for the opening ceremony and first game!

I took Luke for his 10 week vaccinations this morning, he was such a big boy, only cried when they jabbed the needle into his little thighs, but once that was over I gave him the dummy, held him close and no more tears. He is now weighing 6.265kgs!

He is also talking quite a bit now, cooing and babbling here and there and some nice big smiles for mommy and daddy too. He is such a sweetie pie.

Beansmom, was so nice seeing you there, atleast I had someone to chat to, made the time pass by quicker! :)

Yeh the thread has been a bit quiet lately. Must be all the rocking and nappy changing and feeding

Desiree I've been wanting to comment on the Cosy Bugs for ages now but I always seem to get screamed off the forum before I have the chance to. I wanted to ask if your Cosy Bugs go over the feet? Because mine are still a bit big for her in the shoulders and arms, yet her legs always manage to stick out. I got them as a baby shower gift and spotted them at Baby City the other day. Could not believe how much they cost!!

Bronz, I've been topping up Emily's feeds since birth. How old is Graeme? If he's older than six weeks you shouldn't have any nipple confusion - I was fortunate and we had no problems there. Also a bit of formula is supposed to stretch the time between feeds a bit, otherwise she'd be hanging off my boob permanently. I felt a lot of guilt when I started topping up as I really wanted to breastfeed exclusively, but it hasn't been too bad - and it also gives dad the chance to feed her. Also, I don't have to wean her onto the bottle when I go back to work :woohoo:

Jacadebra, there is NOTHING leisurely about being a SAHM. I honestly wish I could be one too, but finances just won't allow it I'm afraid. I take my hat off to you. It is probably the most important - and most exhausting and difficult - job in the world. We have become Mr and Mrs Takeout. It's just too much to look after her and cook dinner - especially as we've been trying to get a walk in when Mark gets home from work. I'm glad I'm not the only mom whose little one's routine reads like that. At least Emily sleeps three to four hours at a stretch at night - sometimes a bit longer if we're lucky. But nowhere near eight hours, sigh.

Meags, I'd love to get the "calming baby" lesson. Does it put them to sleep...?? Whereabouts in Joburg are you?

ladies, I went on Nef's hypnobirthing course and she showed us a video on how to calm babies.
it is INCREDIBLE!!!!

It's difficult to explain, but I live in Joburg and am happy to meet with those mommies to show them?
There are basically 5 S's.

1) Swaddle (but there is a SPECIFIC swaddle to ensure the process will work)
2) side or stomach (place baby on either - over your arm)
3) sway
4) Shushing
5) Sucking

Each and every baby calmed within minutes of this being done!
