I am in Jukskei Park / Douglasdale. Looks like my mother will be able to give me a ride so that wont be an issue. But thanks for the offers. :)

I have a quick question. Today while feeding Graeme (It happened more than once) He would get a bit upset, pull away breathe and then go back. It happened more often on the left boob. It was like he was in pain (cramps?). I don't recall eating anything different? He is fast asleep now like normal. Should i be worried?

@Meags - I'm fine for Friday at 1, let's see what the other ladies say!

@Lucy - I bathed Connor every night from about 2 weeks, I've made it part of my bedtime routine And it works so well! Connor sleeps really well after his bath, it relaxes him and me too, he never enjoyed his bath at first, but he does now.

Don't worry too much about a strict routine at 2 weeks, just go with your baba for now, his sleeping pattern is pretty random now, he doesn't yet know the difference between day and night and will only learn this in time! He will probably need to feed every 2 - 3 hours day and night. You could make your bathtime/top and tailing your first start to a routine and just take it from there - even if the time variesmeach night, it will soon teach your baby that bathtime is followed by sleeptime.

Good luck with all this new stuff and don't be afraid to try new ideas, there is no right or wrong, us new mommies can only do our best!

My beautiful baby boy, Connor Troy, was born on 20 March 2010 and my 2nd gorgeous boy, Cullen Reece, was born on 2 September 2011 - I am very blessed indeed

@Lucy - I also just topped and tailed Karla for a while, then started bathing every evening... she loves it now!
Routine for a 2 week old don't really work... Karla is now almost 9 weeks and is only starting now to get in to a little bit of a routine, still not the same everyday!! Just remember if you breastfeed to demand feed him... Don't stretch him for 4 hours otherwise your milk will dry up! Just enjoy him, every minute, even if it is a screaming minute or hour... It goes by soooo incredibly fast!!! :woohoo:

Hi Lucy, I topped and tailed James every second night till he was three weeks old. He hated his bath until then and it wasnt worth the stress of him screaming (he now loves it), so I bath him every evening after his evening feed to get him into a night routine. It relaxes him so he is ready for bed. Top and Tailing is fine, babies dont get dirty so if you are worrying about him getting cold then I would go for it. Just make sure you are thourough in the skin folds and that you make sure the skin is completely dry!

As for a routine, good luck with that. Its taken me almost two months to get some semblance of a routine going, because it takes a while to get to know your babies individual needs (all are different). Are you breast feeding or bottle feeding? Its harder to have a routine if you are doing demand feeding but A rule of thumb is that at that age babies can only really handle being awake for about 1hr at a time (including feeding and changing times) So try work around this time frame bcause if they become overtired its harder to gt the to go down!

Hi there ladies

Thanks for the warm welcome! Need some help pls!!!

I was told its ok to top and tail for a few days if too cold to bath - is that ok? Was planning on bathing London (my son) twice a week with a proper top and tail each night. Or is that too little?

Also what kind of routine works with a 2 week old... what should I start doing?

;-)

Hi all and welcome Lucy:)
Well, no such luck with the sleeping. James went back to his normal no daytime sleeps yesterday. Just put him down, and I hope it lasts!

@Desiree I wouldnt worry too much if hes gaining weight. Babies have immature valves and most babies will throw up with feeds - thats why relfux disorder is so overdiagnosed, because actually all babies have reflux, just not all enough for it to be a disorder. James also possets after feeds occasioanlly, normally when I havent been as good as I should be at burping him. I think air gets trapped behind the milk. Maybe try winding him more frquently during his feeds?
