Newborn and baby advice

Morning ladies.

Well Luke slept for 7 hours again last night, that is 2 nights in a row now, I wonder if this is a pattern or a coincidence, am hoping its the start of him sleeping through!

So I fed him at 9pm last night and he woke up at 4am this morning for his feed and then again at 9am this morning for the next feed.

We have moved onto pampers No.2 nappies now as the huggies were getting a tad small. Pampers seem to be doing well so far.

jacadebra - wow your LO has picked up weight so nicely, good to hear all is well. Looking forward to finding out what Luke weighs - his 6 week checkup is next week Thursday so will see.

My gynea checkup is next monday, can't wait to be given the go-ahead for sex..hee..hee.. but I certainly don't want to be falling pregnant again so def need CONTRACEPTION - what did your gynea's recommend?

How did you and lo's sleep last night? Connor had a good stretch from 8 until 12 and then until 4, and then he decided to be awake after his feed at 4 until 9:15am, ha ha - he had another feed at 8:00am, but he had a major poo aferwards, ha ha, so was awake until after 9....anyhoo, now that he's napping, finally, I've had a refreshing shower and I'm feeling good to go again!!

A few of us have asked about Zulu now - I wonder where she's gone to?

We r going to a birthday party on Saturday, our first big outing with Baba ... Nicky, how did u handle Liebe when u were at your kermis and braai afterwards?

Well i'm home alone tonight , hubby's got to see a client at 8 so he'll get home after 10.

I moved Liebe's cot away from my bed so that she can learn to sleep in it during the day and at night , she's sleeping in it now only because i've put my laptop in her cot and played her some rock.It's so strange how she recognizes music that I used to play her while she was still in my womb.She calms down immediately.

Beansmom ,glad Tayla is back to normal. I wish I can get Liebe on 4h feeds.You're very lucky to have achieved that so early on.You must give me some tips.hehe

Jac ,that book is really cool.Looks boring when you open it but once you start reading really really cool stuff inside.I wish I could be as chilled and laid back as you when it comes to the lo's.Glad that Lia's 6 weeks check up went well and that she's healthy. I would have been so angry at the hospital if they got the height wrong.

Des , I totally understand what you mean with the mommy bond thing. I'm usually a very private person but must say I've never spoken to so many strangers before when I go shopping.Even men will stop and talk and tell me about their babies or their grand children.It's strange how things change once you have a child.

@ Scribblingal - I must admit - i'm only on day 12 with little one - but the first week was tough with the breastfeeding.. now i've found my feet with the help of the breastfeeding clinic down here... if it wasn't for them i would have given up ages ago!

@ Jacadebra: After chatting with my mom today about what i'd eaten - it HIT me like a ton of bricks... Sunday afternoon we had broccoli and cauliflour with our roast... and Monday night I had a VERY garlicky pizza... PROBLEM FOUND!!!! So as someone said to me on FB... a moment on the lips = a hour on the lids!

The good news is today has been much better - back to the normal Tayla... Lets hope this lasts... we are going to try and push feeds back by 30 mins this weekend again... cos at the moment we are waking her every 4 hours...

Our ADSL was down the whole day.. what a pain..grr!!!

ScribblingAl, I'm SO glad you are feeling a bit better. I was worried about you. So fabulous that you are staying by your mom a bit - how cool that she is a nurse/midwife!!! Sounds like you are doing great - just keep taking things a day at a time - and do whatevever you need to to feel sane .

Nicky - that book sounds cool - so sweet of DH to get it for you.

Sorry you are having a rough day pinky - tomorrow is another day.. hopefully it will be a better one. Hopefully she has a good night tonight too.

LOL@ everybody's paranoia - I think I was the same with my first - now with Lia I really can't be as paranoid - my son is a toddler and he is a wild little thing and frankly I wouldn't be able to keep afloat if I spent time obsessing - there seems to be so little time to do all the normal stuff and to please both kiddies so I'm much more chilled this time around. I think the paranoia is pretty normal though - we all just want to protect our young and who better to do it than mom

Pinky - glad you've mastered b/feeding lying down. I tried so hard to do it with my first but couldn't quite work it out lol - I must say I haven't tried much this time around though because I don't have as much time to chill and nap - I am generally reading stories/ playing guessing games with my toddler while breastfeeding so I sit up all the time.

We went for our 6 week checkup at the paed. Lia is doing great. One thing that annoyed me is that he realized the nurses did her height WRONG on her birth card so I don't have a clue how many cm's she has grown. They had her down as 53cms (which I thought was a bit tall given that she was early and tiny) - but that is her CURRENT height. And she has clearly grown a LOT in length so she must have been more like 47/48cm's. She now weighs 5.1kg and the doc cannot believe she how much she has gained LOL. He is very happy with her though so all is good. She was SO relaxed with the doc which was nice. She has been cranky this evening though so I've left her to sleep instead of bathing her usual time.

Scribblinggal - glad to see u here again and I'm sooooo glad things are going better for you!! Its insane how these post-pregnancy hormones can mess around with us hey? Anyhoo - *hugs*

I went to lunch at Sandton City, was nice to get out - my friends baby is now 4 months and he is smiling and laughing, its just too cute! I managed to feed Connor in Wimpy, and I must say the staff were very friendly and helped get me a big table and moved things around so the stroller could fit in, he he, it was daunting, but I managed and it went well - even met another mommy there who also had to make a pit stop to feed her baba - is weird how all us mommies almost share a bond now, we know what eachother is going through!!

I'm really hoping Connor will have a little nap now, so that I can also try ..I'm tiiiiiired *yawn*

Ooh, also, I got Lindi (my domestic worker) to wash Connors bottles and they seem just fine, yes, I inspected them thoroughly, ha ha - I am, however, sterilising them myself because I like aking sure the microwave sterilizer is packed properly : )

Nicky - you are lucky your nanny is good with Liebe, it is a big help hey? I haven't given Lindi the chance to handle Connor yet, but it will happen and I'm sure the world will not end, he he

he he Des , I also wash the bottles myself , i even do the washing as I am scared it gets messed up.Had a bad experience previously , all our clothes were blue.But I love my nanny she is my superstar and she is so good with liebe specially when I need to take a shower.She will pick Liebe up when she is crying if she sees I cant make it and Liebe likes it.

ScribblingAI , I also struggled with the breastfeeding couldn't breastfeed and had to express every feed.Until my milk dried up about two weeks ago.So glad that you are feeling lots and lots better , the first few weeks are really hard.

Shame Pinky , hope you get some rest.

My hubby bought me that baby gym book , it's so nice started reading it last night. It helps with physical and brain development. Lots of small things to do with baby. Gonna try it out form today.
