Newborn and baby advice

Just thought I'd drop a note and introduce myself. My little girl was born last week :)and I'm sure going to enjoy working through this thread for advice.

Hi ladies

I was wondering about the white milk residue on my LG's tongue. Do you have to clean it or not? Some people say you have to and others say it is not necessary? What do you guys think?

Oooh - a kermis - I think we call that a fete?? I thought you meant like a funfair with big wheel and rides and stuff - I'm a real kid when it comes to things like that lol

How did your 6 week checkup go??

We have ours this week too.

I haven't taken Lia to be weighed because she had a snotty nose and didn't want to take her out - especially seeing they don't even measure her weekly like they use to with my son (they only do that at vaccination appointments). Anyway, last night out of curiosity we put Lia on our digital scale with us and she is about 5.2kg's!!! She weighed 2.82 at birth and 2.6 at discharge less than 6 weeks ago. Wow, is all lol. I think my scale is fairly accurate but we will see on Wednesday when doc measures her etc too.

Sleep still sucks... I won't complain again - I think I'll just start mentioning when we have a good night - I complain waaaay too much haha.

Looks like we are having the get together then on the 22nd. Really looking forward to meeting you all. We will have loads of fun...

Jac , a funfair is a "kermis" .My SIL is the head master of a creche so they have this fun day with all the kiddies and they play games and there is stalls.I always go and this year was so much fun as I had my own baby. I made Liebe a butterfly candle not that she will know about it for a long time.I see with the 4h is not working , she starts crying between 3 and 3 and a half.I think yesterday was maybe just a once off.

We only got home last night at 23:00 , Liebe was awake from 7pm and then I thought to myself no sleep tonight and then when we got home I gave her a bottle ,she fell asleep and slept from 23:30 until 05:30 without waking once. I woke up a 3 just to check if she is still alive.hehe

I was feeling very brave this morning and decided to take Liebe for a shower.She loved it so much!!! Will do it more in future.And then she made my day by smiling at me for the first time.That;s an amazing feeling seeing that little face light up.

Well I have to go get everything ready for the night to come so I'll chat to you girls tomorrow.Have to get up early , it's our six week check up tomorrow.Wonder what it will be like.

Funfare? Where is a funfair Nicky? Sounds like fun! Love doing stuff like that once in a while . Just be careful pushing the day feeds further apart - you may find if she feeds further apart in the day she will drink closer together at night. I guess it is all trial and error though. I know with Lia there is no pushing anything.. when she is hungry - she screams the place down lol.

22nd May would work for me to. Honestly though, I'd really prefer a week get together because my hubby really appreciates family time on the weekends so I think he may moan a bit. I will make a plan to be there though if it is the 22nd - if it is ladies only I'll leave my toddler with hubby and just Lia and I will come.

Des, I always wake Lia up to bath her because I bath her same time as my son. That way we use my son's bath water to steam up the bathroom and make it a bit warmer in there then I move the baby bath in there and bath Lia while daddy & Jordan bath together.

Sleep sucked last night... hubby got some rich dessert which didn't agree with my toddler's tummy (we don't usually eat dessert) so he was up 3 times last night calling me... lia fed 2.5 hourly between and at 4 her nose was slightly blocked and she was moaning etc so I walked her around the house and was awake when she went down. I probably got 3.5 hours in total... grrrrr. I am coping fairly well though.

In general though it looks at though Lia is feeling a lot better - she is chilling out a lot more. She was so relaxed when she came back from the hospital so hopefully she is going back to her usual self.

We went to family today and despite being in a strange environment (we haven't taken her out much) with many people holding her etc and being awake for 2 hours while there - she was so relaxed, didn't stress out at all. Even fell asleep in my arms just as she got tired - no rocking, nothing. Bizarre, awesome! hehe

Just finished supper and waiting for Connor to wake up, he only dozed off just before 6, so his bathtime is going to be a little later tonight - so, Nicky, as far as night tine routines go, depending on his feed times during the day, our night time routine can start between 6:30pm and 8:30pm, it all depends on his daytime feed times! But when I go back to work in July, I also get home after 5:30, so, I'm not planning on getting home and bathing him and putting him to bed immediately, 8:00pm seems ok to me! I ofteb wonder what his routine will be like when he goes to creche...

Connor is 6 weeks old today, goodness, I can hardly believe it!

Nicky - funfare and braai on one day, seems like HUGE fun : ). Hope everything worked out well for Liebe...

Jacadebra - Connor also didn't feel like sleeping much today - he was awake from 1:00pm until 6:00pm, when the babysense book says, 'limit babys awake time to 40-60mins' I just want to laugh, because how on earth do you force your baby to sleep or to stay awake??

Ladies - I'm all good for the 22nd May - if that suits you, let's stick to that date - are you keen for a GIRLS ONLY day, or would you like to bring your hubbys along for a braai also? Let me know... Who is interested from the JHB ladies?

Its now 8:00pm and Connor is still sleeping - I still have to do another feed and then only bath time, because if I bath him before a feed...he screams, ha ha, I have to feed him first - so ... Tonight is going to be a long niiiiiight : )
