Hi Desiree, I sent you my phone number, did you get it? I had such a laugh at your domestic worker story. I have the same problem - I haven't let her touch anything that belongs to little Emily. I even wash everything and make sure it's packed away before she comes, and I make sure we're always in the nursery so she can't clean it. It's really ridiculous. I just hate the thought of other people touching her things - I don't know where their hands have been, and I think I'm becoming paranoid.
Nookie - not yet six weeks, but I must say that we're counting down. I'm not going to chance it before my doc gives me the go-ahead.
I just want to thank all of you for your support and advice regarding my stupid depression after the birth and the breastfeeding saga. Jacadebra, you will never know how much what you wrote helped me. I cried like a baby (ha ha) when I read it. You have really been an inspiration to me. When I was really low after the birth I kept thinking about your beautiful birth story and it made me realise that I could still have the birth I want, just maybe not this time round. Going to have to keep trying

There was another mommy who said that she tried breastfeeding for three weeks and eventually went onto bottles and is feeling good about the decision - and now I can't find the post and I can't remember who it is, but it really really helped me.
I also had to laugh when you all suggested things to help the breastfeeding - eglonyl, espiride, jungle juice, brewers yeast - I've tried them ALL!!! And still I was expressing a whopping 10ml per boob at a time. But things are looking up. We went to visit my folks this weekend and my mom persuaded me to stay the week. So I'm still parking off at my folks', where my mom (a nurse and former midwife) is rukking my boobs into breastfeeding submission. She dragged me off to one of her crones (I mean cronies) yesterday at the clinic and she made me feel so much better about the breastfeeding - had her latched in about two seconds on the dodgy nipple, nogal. So it's bloody sore and my nipples are bloody painful, but we're trying 10 mins a boob, followed by a formula top-up and we'll see how it goes.
So thank you ladies. This thread has really thrown at least one of us a lifeline at a time that she really needed a bit of support.
