Mommy21, welcome back. Post some pics!

Jacadebra, I'm with you on the weekend meet being a bit undoable at the moment. Wish I had more time off. Feels like the months are flashing past. Work roster should be out this week, so then maybe we can set a date for our meeting! I'm so looking forward to it!!!

When you give Lia chicken or fish, how do you prepare/serve it? And what fish do you buy?? Going to attempt to feed the little munchkin some big girl fish this week.

Beansmom, after trying desperately to limit Emily to three bottles a day I have decided to show the chick from the clinic a nice, straight, proud middle finger. She needs at least 4... And stuff the extra little rolls on her legs.

hello there all..

@Scribbling - yes - I've read and been told by a few ppl that by 9 months they should be eating 250ml - but Tayla lets us know when she is full... and i don't want to force eating cos that just creates eating issues later in life... or obesity! Heard too many stories!!!

As for snacks... She snacks on whatever I'm snacking on - so today was bran muffin in the morning and afternoon was marie biscuits... but it varies daily... sometimes raw carrots, fruit in her net chewy thingy..

Feeds - from the breastfeeding clinics instruction!!! At 9 months babies are meant to be eating what we eat! My current routine with Tayla is:
milk on waking - 200ml
10:30 - porridge and 150ml milk
14:30 - 125ml of mixed fruit and custard, yoghurt after and 150ml milk
18:30 -protein, starch and veg plus 150ml milk and jelly and custard if she is still hungry

Still givign more milk than supposed to - but she is happy and healthy! We tried less milk and she just cried so couldn't do it!!! She is eating VERY well. We have learnt that mushed food is no longer cool... she now wants big peoples food... so actual pieces of veg, potato, meat/fish... easier on us and now she is eating like a champ!!!

As for Luks1 - congrats to her! But no chance for me! I'm doing everything possible NOT to fall pregnant right now! I love little Tayla - but could definately not deal with another one of her just yet!!! Maybe once she is 18 months or 2years... we'll consider!!!

@ Bundle - i agree... they should give classes on solids... too much info and conflicting!!! So damn confusing... Dunno how a first time mom is supposed to just "know" what is right!

Hello Ladies,

Are you getting excited about the move Des - which date are you actually moving down? Very exciting! Pity I didn't get to meet you while you were still in JHB.

Bundle - Luke looks so cute!! Why is it that the little boys always have more hair than the little girls at this age!! He has great locks!! Congrats on the teeth!

Welcome back Elamsmom! So nice to see you here again!!!
I can't do a weekend meet at the moment, we have literally 6 family birthdays in 1.5 months and weekends are disgustingly busy. Hubby gets annoyed when I try to fill it up even more because we don't get all that much "family" time with just the four of us. In a couple of months time things should be better though and I'd be able to do the weekend thing.
As for your hubby wanting another so soon...hehe.. usually they say the WOMEN are the ones who push for babies lol. That's really nice for Luks1! I must admit though, if I fell pregnant before my kids were 6 months I may have gone into meltdown lmao! Hectic. Nice to have a small gap in many ways but the first year is bound to be a hectic blur.

Secret Garden is always lovely, so if you guys still want to do the Monday thing in Feb, just say when and I'll be there.

Scribbling, it is so awesome when they reach their little milestones. I think becoming a mom has definitely made me more mushy too - as I was never the type to gush, or cry tears of happiness, but sometimes I do it now. About sippy cups - my kids never liked those non-spill varieties - couldn't suck well out of them - Lia drinks out of either a straw cup, or a simple cheapy sippy with a hard spout and 2 handles, or no handles. I rotate them so she drinks from anything really. Even from a normal cup but needs more help on that still.

Hello Beansmom!! Seriously - some of these "medical professionals" and their teams should really change their approach. Unnecessary when they're SO DARN RUDE. Tayla is gorgeous and when she hits those toddler years you will probably be saying she's too darn skinny - so don't stress about it. THey seriously do shed it when they get very mobile. Nice to have a bit of a bodyfat "buffer" too in case they lose their appetite teething, or when sick, that way you don't have to worry about them getting too frail etc.

Bundle, if he's eating 200ml fruit a day - and he doesn't show signs of irritated bum or sore tummy, then it's fine. Take his lead. We do fruit with breakfast each day and again. I just don't do too much acidic/ citrussy stuff in one go. I'm a vegetarian but Lia eats fish/ chicken with hubby most nights or lentils etc. She doesn't get meat lunch time - she will get yogurt/ cheese or some other protein source. Her diet also varies but today was:

B/fast: Weetbix & Milk & Cut, halved, peeled grapes
Lunch: Leftover veggies - cauliflower florets with melted cheese, cubes of carrots, and 1 strip of buttered toast (we had toasted sarmies so she had some to). She also had some banana (1/2 cup water)
Afternoon snack: Yogurt (She doesn't usually have a seperate snack, as she eats a LOT at lunch time
Dinner: Couscous, fish, veggie stirfry & gemssquash (1/2 cup water)

Dinner is always 2xveggies, 1xstarch, 1xprotein
Lunch I try to do at least 1 veggie and/or some fruit, and a dairy product - she will often have eggbread, or whatever we have too with this

Scribbling, I will only add two snacks closer to a year of age. My child seriously eats a lOT. As for eating 250ml at each meal... wow, I've not read that guideline... sounds like a lot but I guess Lia pretty much does that.

Guys.. just when Lia was pretty settled on 2 naps per day and easy to get down.... she's started fighting sleep when she is seriously tired. Gah. She had only one nap the other day but it wasn't enough and she slept badly that night too. Bah. I think she's just too interested in what's going on, and then if I miss her "just tired time" and she goes into overdrive... I'm screwed. Oh well.

Let me stop yacking and tidy away dinner things
Chat later guys

@ Bundle of Joy, I think you need to do what works for you, but I know that even adults are not supposed to have their big meal at dinnertime, it just works out that way because of work commitments..
James menu this week has been ( I do BLW so it will be different from the food you give, but just showing the lunch/dinner thing)
Monday Breakfast: Meusli and plain full cream yoghurt
Lunch: Peanut butter on toast with cup of water
Dinner: Chicken curry with water
Tuesday Breakfast: Wheatbix with milk
Lunch: Steak with mash, peas, broccoli and baby marrow (also water)
Dinner: tomatoes, cucumber, carrot sticks with hummus and cup water
Wednesday breakfast meusli with yoghurt
Lunch: Full fat cream cheeze on rye bread with cup water
Snack: Frozen watermelon
pieces (its super hot today)
Dinner: Lentil soup, wholewheat bread and cup water
I still BF on demand and he still has about 4 feeds a day. He only gets water/ a drink with lunch and dinner and he drinks from a normal cup (I help a little, but hes getting there)
I think as long as you are feeding them its a good thing (as opposed to moms who let them starve)

yes, when and where?

Weekdays are completely out of the question for me so if majority of u can do weekdays, I'll sit the meets out.

Can't even be "sick" cos I just started a new job which i actually like very much so on my best behaviour.
