file Newborn and baby advice

Hi ladies. Yep, Luks1 is preggy again. 3 months. She's not on moomie but I'm going to recruit her asap. (not sure if it's the same the 2nd time around, but PF kept me sane during my pregnancy!)I was SHOCKED to say the least. She says it wasn't planned but what can she do now, except to look fwd to the new addition. Me????? NO WAY! Not anytime soon!!! Still enjoying Elam's little milestones and still wanna lavish her with all the attention for a few more years.

DH has started the talk about a new baby. If I protest we end up arguing/ fighting so since the whole baby thing is COMPLETELY within my control, I've resorted to saying "OK, baby, we'll fall preggy late this year and have another baby in 2012" HA! HE WISHES!!!! That is sooooooo not gonna happen. For men it's all about the pride of their little offspring, bragging abt their developments and how pretty they are. He has no idea how much work goes into getting her all pretty and fed and happy!!!! NO IDEA AT ALL!!!

Anyway, *sigh* after that little venting... Hope u all well today

At the moment I'm also just giving Emily whatever, whenever, but if she has fruit for snacks then she won't have fruit for lunch, and I usually give her veggies and some kind of protein for dinner. The poor child isn't getting much in the way of meat stuff - loads of chickpeas, beans and lentils. And i try give protein at every meal, so maybe at lunch she'll have yoghurt (full fat, plain). I'm going to try make some cottage cheese for her.

I don't know if any of you ladies are following the April 2010 mommies thread, but I just read that one of the old Pampers group, Luks1, is pregnant again!

@Bundle - I give Karla anything whenever... if you know what I mean... Sometimes it is meat for lunch, other times it is meat for supper... As long as Karla is picking up weight, having enough pooh nappies and is not sick, I just do what I think is best... and also if he just want fruit, then just give him fruit, If Karla doesn't want any meat or veggies and just fruit for a meal, then I just give her that... as long as they eat and are healthy... Maybe someone else will disagree with me, but that is what I try to do... Karla also eat a lot of different stuff, fish, chicken, meat, veggies... etc... She loves fruit so I try to give her a portion of veggies and meat or just veggies and a portion of fruit per meal...

@ScribblingAl - I give Karla greek yoghurt or rice cake or just bread for a snack... not always otherwise she doesn't eat her meal at lunchtime and supper...

And while you're answering Bundle, would you also answerme: What do you give your babies for snacks?

I am so confused, there are so many contradicting answers out there

I would like to know should Luke be having having a meaty meal at lunch time and a fruity/veg meal for supper? Or should it be the other way around, fruit/veg in the afternoon and meat in the evening?

How much fruit puree can I give my boy - is 200ml too much fruit for one day?

This feeding thing is just too confusing for me...think they need to add a section in Antenatal classes just for SOLIDS!!

what do you give your babas for lunch and supper?

Heh heh Beansmom. Actually, as I said on FB, she'll lose weight fast once she really gets mobile (big sigh here; that's what i keep telling myself). But we were also told to drop a bottle. Emily was also getting more little bottles, but now that we're into a whole new routine the three big bottles a day (210ml each) is working a lot better. Trying to give her water, rooibos and diluted juice during the day to keep her hydrated. And she's also getting two snacks during the day (morning and afternoon). I've found that she's eating a helluva lot more at mealtimes now - sometimes I think it's way too much. But they're apparently supposed to eat about 250ml of food at each meal. And as for the rude sister - bugger her. She probably just had a bad day and needed to vent on someone. 10.5kg may be above the "middle line" on the graph, but Tayla is healthy, and happy, and will lose weight when she's mobile. So she should have been congratulating you on that! But on the crawling front, Emily does the same thing - refuses to get on all fours, and thinks it's helluva funny. But the sister at the clinic said as long as she's mobile (which T is) then she'll probably just start crawling out of frustration - and then only do it for a little while before she starts walking.

Congrats on the sippy cup - that's also a big milestone. Em's not doing much with hers - think I need to buy a new one. Which cups work well??? I gave her some juice in a shot glass, and that seemed to work quite well - starting young ;).

Hello there ladies.... L-O-N-G time no chat!!! Things have been a little hectic and I've had very little online time... so decided to MAKE time today!!!

Tayla is also part of the no-crawl gang!!! We try daily by putting her on her all fours... but she goes into a skydiving position... when she's on the bed i lift her bum in the air and she bursts out laughing! So i don't have high hopes for that... one good thing about not crawling... no scuffed knees and dirty clothes... ha ha ha... She is however walking with our hands as railings... and pulling up all over...

We also have absolutely no teeth and no sign of any either... but that doesn't phase me too much...

@Scribblingal... i totally hear you on the emotional front... Madam clapped on Saturday morning for the first time and i also gushed... so pathetic lol!!! I did the same thing the first time she held her own sippy cup and drank her juice... imagine major happenings... i'll be a total mess!!!!

I am still cooking for Tayla... we tried Wooolies fresh baby food and she hated it! So i've just stopped pureeing as much - she doesn't seem to like the smoother textures anymore... She does however love cornflakes with me in the morning... actually anything mommy eats is great... but feeding her with her spoon and pots are not so great... so we have to do a lot of cheating!!

We phoned the breastfeeding clinic as those on FB would have seen - only to be giving HELL! The clinic sister got so rude with me... not quite sure how she expects a first time mom to just know what to do... there are so many conflicting write ups of how to do things... so anyhoo... no more than 500ml of milk a day... which we have ignored because Tayla screams if we only give her a 100ml bottle of milk... so she gets 200ml in the morning and 150ml for the other 3 bottles. Then for food - i was giving porridge morning and night because veg was a mission... well - big mistake app... so i've been told to do porridge in morning, fruit and yoghurt for lunch, and proper meal for dinner. Apparently all babies at 9 months are supposed to eat what we eat... So - i felt a bit like a school kid dragged into the principles office - but doing my best to put things right... Tayla is almost 9 months, 76cm and weights 10.5kg. A big girl :) She'll kill me when she'd older if she ever knew i said that!!!

First Baby - Tayla (girl)
