Sleep?? What's that? Pah. Was really hoping for an early night but now I'm waiting to hear what's happening with Mandela. The joys of working from home... Matchsticks anyone?

No work schedule yet, Jacadebra. People are too busy scrambling around Mandela to worry about drawing up schedules for the minions.

Thanks for all the meaty recipes ladies. Will work up the guts to whip them up soon. After I get some sleep.

Yeh, Emily goes through phases of fighting sleep. And then I get all excited and think she'll start crawling. But nothing yet. Just loads of standing (with support for balancing), pointing, and sticking her finger up her nose - her new trick. What on earth are you supposed to do with that....?? Urgh.

PS we went to Tres Jolie on Sunday for lunch and somebody slipped Emily a piece of flat bread. She absolutely loved it but a few minutes later broke out in red almost-welts on her face. They weren't blistery, but she was quite puffy and red. Was quite worrying but it went down. Needless to say there will be no more wheat happening here for a while!

Hi Ladies

ElamsMom - not irresponsible at all - going with the flow and trusting your natural instict is always a good way to do things.
I try to do that but sometimes overanalyze a bit - second time around I don't have as much time on my hands to do this though, which is probably a good thing lol.

ScribblingAl - I buy hake medallions and then bake them as per the instructions. Then I just cut little pieces - prolly 1cmx1cm and she loves it. Chicken - I've also done grilled, stewed, stirfried. I just don't give her the crispy bits and I take out her bit before I add allt he salt & pepper etc for hubby/ son. Once I take it out, if it will be a little while before we eat, I usually put it in a bit of water in a container in the fridge - especially chicken as it can dry out and become chewy. I also don't give her the hard crispy bits if there are any.

As for socks - Lia hasn't worn any for ages. In this heat (our house is hot so even with the rain it's over 25 degrees in the room). I will probably be searching for some decent non-slip socks pretty soon though. I find those fluffy newborn type socks for sleeping are usually fine - no harsh elastics in them.

Did you get your work shedule yet - if yes maybe you should be the one to set a date for our Monday meet in Feb - possibly mid Feb? Or else we might procrastinate and never get around to it :-)

Hi Mommy21 - so nice to see you again! Hope you get time to catch up with us soon!

Ok, is anybody elses baby all of a sudden fighting sleep even when tired. It was easy to get Lia down until a couple of weeks ago. Meh.

@Scribblingal - I know the question wasn't directed at me... but what i do for Tayla with protein... I give her fishfingers which we mush with a fork and she loves.... I've cooked chicken mince for her and when it is still hot just mince it more with fork and she is fine with that... chicken i just cut up into really small pieces...
Preparing - she likes things with a little flavour so I usually cook the chicken with a few herbs to make it a little tastier... The fishfingers have a crust on them which i give her as is...

Elamsmom, you make me laugh - and put things into perspective!

Ok, here's another question. What socks do your babies wear?? Sounds a bit daft, but I'm struggling to find socks that won't leave red lines on Madam's cankles. The foot bit fits but not the ankle bit.

Hi ladies. Hope all had a great weekend!

You are all making me wonder if I am an irresponsible parent. I honestly just go with the baby's flow. I mean, we do have a routine and all, but she's sort of crafted out the routine for herself so it suits her.

I know that she loves her food and isn't a picky eater at all, so sometimes when she doesn't want to eat, I don't stress about it & just observe her incase it is a sign that she's sick, otherwise, I just let her be. Don't force naps either, she normally takes a nap in the late morning then in the afternoon as well, but on weekends or when people are visiting, she gets excited and might skip a nap but I don't stress about it.

With solids, in the morning she has her baby cereal. for lunch and supper,we have a blender, so we make her fruit smoothies, or we mash some veggies for her. Haven't really started her meat but she loves it so when we are eating I will give her bite-size pieces and then a drumstick bone which she will suck forever!!! :cheer:

In between that, she has her bottles, she has 3 a day at the moment.

Basically, I haven't taken the solids things so seriously :)

Oh yes, I meant to comment on the issues issue. Beansmom, I'm terrified that by withholding milk I'm going to give Emily a complex and she'll develop an eating disorder. Or that by forcing her to eat something I'm going to create an issue. This thing called parenthood really isn't easy. Will too many kisses create a problem?? Too few?? Wil forcing the naps turn her into an insomniac?? Urgh! Think the trick is to not think too much and just go with what feels best. And what keeps you "sane".
