To the ladies who want to do the Monday meet thing - where would you guys like to meet - any suggestions? I'd prefer somewhere were there is a little jungle gym or sandpit or something so my son can play while we chitchat, but if not that's also fine by me, anywhere will do. Where do you guys usually go for coffee/brunch/ lunch?

Lia is fine with textures as she eats mostly finger foods. She does let me feed her off a spoon sometimes, but she is starting to feed herself with the spoon too. Goodness me but it's a messy affair. She knows how to fill the spoon up in her bowl, but occasionally turns the spoon over on the way to her mouth and then gets totally unhappy when there is nothing on the spoon lol.

ScribblingAl - that's so cute that Emily rolls everywhere! I've heard of babies using rolling as their main source of movement before walking but I've not seen it before. I'll be interested to see if she actually crawls or walks instead :-). The teeth grinding thing is AWEFUL! I think my son did it for about 3 months. There isn't much you can do... it will pass eventually. :-S

Lia has started cruising along the furniture. She goes faster toward her left but slooowly if she moves right lol. She also lets go of both hands and leans on her tummy and flaps while she is standing there - a bit unnerving really because she has almost bailed over on a few occasions.

I can't believe our babies are headed toward the end of their first year.. jeepers, where has the time gone.

Ok, need sleep, Lia's been doing very little of it, so hopefully tonight is a bit better.

Chat soon guys

Hi ladies...

About the food texture, Connor has been having loads of textured foods very early on - and he does lots of finger foods - I even give him little sandwiches, which he loves!! Also snacks like a Marie Biscuit now & again.

He has begun smacking the spoon away from him when I try to spoon feed him, so I guess its finger foods from here on - I'm doing mini meatballs.....mini pizzas.....pasta pockets with butternut & sage fillings...um....ive been using garlic, onion & herbs in his foods so he's pretty used to that.....he's eaten peanut butter, fishpaste, etc - but like I say, Im now on the finger food thing....he is happier feeding himself, so I supposed its been a natural progression to BLW anyway....

@Pinky - I still owe you my Tuna Bake recipe....Connor adored it....but now wants to feed himself only, so picking up a grain of rice at a time is not my idea of fun, so i'll try something else for a while, he he he

@ScribblingAl - Connor grinds his teeth also, its TERRIBLE, makes me sooooooooooooooooooo nauseus when I hear it....it does awful things to my insides - it sounds to be pretty much normal, they're just comiing to terms with their new found "teeth"....and hopefully, they'll grow out of it......FAST!! good luck....

I can't really do a Monday hookup, becacuse Im still finishing off at work....booooohooooooooo

only 2.5 weeks and we move to CPT!

My beautiful baby boy, Connor Troy, was born on 20 March 2010 and my 2nd gorgeous boy, Cullen Reece, was born on 2 September 2011 - I am very blessed indeed

Pinky, Emily's eating textures too, whereas in the beginning she wasn't so keen. I think it's all downhill from here now as far as food goes.

Can anyone else do a Monday hook-up?

Emily's started grinding her teeth. It's the most awful sound!!! Does anyone else have this problem? Any idea what causes it? And more importantly, how can I make it stop!!!??

@ScribblingAl - I did not go yet... Mondays are fine for me if you want to go maybe next week! Let me know!

Are your babas all eating a bit more texture yet? Karla seems more fine everyday with texture... I give her a lot of lumpy food!

I'm keen for a hook-up, Jacadebra. Can usually do Mondays, as that's one of my days off. Weekends are also mad, as I work Saturdays and then Sundays are chockers as we frantically try to catch up with people.

Emily had her 9-month jabs today. Broke my heart. Just as well dad was there to console both his babies ;) She's 9.4kg and 73cm tall. Still no crawling but the clinic sister gave some great advice for getting her going. She said as long as she's moving around a lot that's the main thing, and the crawling will come as she gets more frustrated. Also, she said to cut down on the milk feeds (she was getting a bottle every three hours or so) and increase the amount we're feeding her at mealtimes (veggies and protein). But all-in-all she was quite positive, which was encouraging and made me feel slightly more competent.

Pinky, sorry for not getting back to you regarding the orphanage. Did you go? If not, maybe we can make another date?

Hello everybody!

Nice to see you online Zulu! Don't stress, within the next few months she will lose a lot of baby fat. My son was 10kg's at 6 months and now at 3 years he is only 15kg's. As long as she is happy and healthy, that's all that matters.

Congrats on the clapping Des, so cute! And on the crawling! I can't believe you are moving already, time flies!! Are you excited??

ScribblingAl, when babies use to sleep on their tummies they use to crawl at 5/6 months, these days it is 9 months or 10 months like Claudia mentioned. At least she rolls. My kids were seriously LAZY when it came to rolling. BTW, it may look like she is plateauing, but she's probably working on finer details and wham, she'll amaze you with a few obvious new developments in one go. It always seemed that way with my kids, I'd just wonder when they'd attempt a milestone and wham, they'd do two or three in the same month.

Pinky, my son was the same... he took ages to decide to get himself in a sitting position. I think he only did it at 8/9 months.. and then walked at 9.5 months... too odd LOL. Also hated rolling. It's probably just a phase she is going through, who knows. Karla sounds too cute, I LOVE the waving, melts my heart :-).

Congrats on the tooth and the crawling Bundle :-). Bundle, there is not really a typical mealplan. In the US many babies are still on mostly breastmilk at this stage. I think most guidelines say that their milks are still the most important until the end of their first year but to introduce them to as many tastes and textures as you can. Lia is currently eating 3 meals a day, cereal & chopped fruit for breakfast, then veggies & yogurt/ toast for lunch or eggbread and fruit/ veg, etc, and then whatever we have for dinner in small soft portions, a starch, protein & one or two veg. She breastfeeds at 7ish, 11, 3 & 7 give or take 30min's/1 hour and then randomly she drinks at night too. Not sure what the other kiddies are eating.

Sorry about the tummy bug Claudia, that's hectic. Hope little James doesn't get sick, not nice when they're feeling icky. BTW - your photo's from your holiday are lovely - seems like James actually liked Father Christmas, hehe, many babies are scared of him, lol.

Des, I can't make the moomie meet either. When are you finishing up at work - will you be off for a few days before you go? Perhaps we could do a brunch or something, or hook up for coffee or something. Weekends are a nightmare for me Jan/Feb (beginning) as we have TONS of family b/days, but in the week I'm pretty flexible. Don't know if there are any other moms & babes who would be keen??

Lia's does mixed crawling now - on hands and knees on the bricks and other weird surfaces, or to get up against things, and loves to slither around on the tiles. This is such a cute age but it's also an age where they start becoming more vocal and showing when they're unhappy lol... so she has really been telling her brother off when he does somethign she doesn't like.

Ok, enough rambling.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Hey ladies, looks lik everyone had an eventful first christmas:)
We got back from holiday on tuesday night. What a journey. 26hrs travelling. James was an absolute star, but it definitely was hard going! Got home and crashed like a ton of bricks (thank goodness James played ball on this one) only to wake up on wednesday morning with a horrid tummy bug. Hubby had to go back to work, so I was left to my own devices. All I can say is thank goodness my sister is on holiday because James was more than I could handle with my head in the toilet. Its taken me the better of two days to start feeling better, and this morning James seems to have woken with a cough and a mild temp. I've been breastfeeding like crazy to keep him buff with antibodies, so hopefully he doesnt get any worse:)

Shew so many crawlers:) Its actually only "average" to crawl at 9-10 months, definitely not late:), so all the moomies that have non crawlers like my james dont stress. Also some babies dont crawl - some OTs say its important for reciprocal movements, but honestly to walk you need reciprocal movements so I think thats a load of tosh (I actually said this to my colleague once). If your baby doesnt sit by 9 months then that may be of concern.
James is also pulling himslef up on things and rolling from place to place:)

James also still has no teeth:)
