hi ladies

@scrbblingal - holiday is great!!! I used reuteri tablets you chew, and daktarin to put on my nipples and in baby's mouth, also reuteri drops for baby for prevention... Do you have it?

I remember someone saying they had thrush. Was just wondering what you took for it?

Pinky, how's the holiday going? Hope you're taking lots of photos.

Jacadebra, you 've been really quiet. Is everything ok?

Ladies on the West Rand, I'm off this week on study leave, so if anyone's keen for a get-together, let me know.

Hi ladies,

Am new to your thread and do not chat a lot but @ Girly: Congrats on the birth of your girl! I hope she brings you lots and lots of joy. Here is some advice:

1. It is very important that you relax over all.
2. Call your gynae and ask for eglynol - it helps with anxiousness, depression, stress etc. It is also good for your milk supply. Don't worry, it is non addictive.
3. Leah came home weighing only 2.58kg and by pead told me that they will let you know when they are hungry. I let Leah sleep but drew the line a 6 hours where I used a cold wet wipe on her back, tummy etc to wake her so she can drink. She did exactly what your girl did but eventually she started drinking every 3 hours. Even now and she is 3 months old already. She also drinks small qty's at a time and it is frustrating but I have learned that it is her eating pattern as she is a small baby.
4. If you are really worried about her weight gain, use a little bit of Lactogen to supplement (Lactogen is a strong milk and I have found to give less stomach cramps that all those fancy Nan's. Leah is on Lactogen and she is thriving on it).

I know it easy for me to say to relax but I know exactly what you are going through and how you feel. I only managed to bf for 4 weeks and wanted to give Leah up for adoption (serious) - I found out later that I had really bad post natal depression after a nervous breakdown and was put on eglynol twice a day. It is much much better now and I have found that being relaxed is of the utmost importance. I enjoy Leah so much and dread the day that I must go back to work. All the best Girly and ask ask ask...

@ Adri, I mostly work from home (although in the early morning and late afternoons I have to go into the hospital) The time off isnt really an issue, I just make other plans, its just she is soooo great, and I really would hate to see her get ill and hav to leave. Thats what happened last time and its not easy to find someone that you like.. Luckily her CD4 counts seem good and on the ARV's theyve been going up. Just going to make sure I keep loads of fresh fruit and veg at home for her...

Tx for the advice.

She is not on the ponstel / ponado anymore unless 'required' Gave her ponstel around 2am but that'd have been out of her system by 10am.

I've tried all the known ways of waking her, undressing, rubbing down chest to toes, changing diaper, kango but my girl seems resistant to these techniques if she's not hungry.
She finally ate a little bit at 4pm and a bit more at 5pm. Hopefully she'll be back to normal now.

I'm probably more stressed than the average mom cos right now she has to gain weight for her wellbeing. She lost out on 5 days growth in hospital, so only weighed 2.9kgs at 2 weeks, from 2.83 at birth (2.68 on leaving hospital).
