Newborn and baby advice

Bronz - that is weird your paed told you that - I have also heard that is exactly why we wait until 6ish months - to avoid allergies - also why most people introduce rice cereal first because it doesn't cause allergic reactions. Perhaps google and see if the World Health Organization still recommends 6 months - I would do it but now I'm lazy and going to bed *heehee*.

Seriously Meags, I would rather hold off on the TTC if you are not sure about hubby. You are still so young. Go have wild holidays and go party up a storm the two of you. When baby comes into your lives it isn't as easy to do those things and hubby may then resent the fact that you two had babies so soon. This could cause serious marital strain. As awesome as it is to become a parent - I'm personally a believer that it is great to first enjoy a good portion of time together,just the two of you before you add to the brood. Do crazy things, party if you wish, travel and just be young and free. Once you are bored of those things (or hubby as it may be) then when you add a baby to the brood he won't feel depressed or like you have missed out because you can't easily do those things anymore.

I hope what I said makes sense? Maybe I'm just rambling because it is late. Let me go sleep.. lol

wow your babies are soooooo adorable! How can one not be broody after seeing those gummy smiles??

Bronz, I personally have no heard that it reduces allergies, but rather the opposite! From what I understand, the tummy is under developed and cannot tolerate the foods and therefore is put into defense mode and triggers the allergy off. However, this is not something I have done recent research on so who knows? Perhaps it is different now?

Jac, wow, we have only agreed to TTC for 24 hours and I'm fed up already!! I think this is going to be quite a stressful journey and not sure now is the right time anymore!! When I say that to DH though, he seems a little sad so maybe he really is ready for it!
As for taking baby with? I did mention that and got an EARFUL from DH along the lines of
"oh ok so we'll walk up statue of liberty with a baby on our back and then go gamble and party in vegas and hope they dont notice the baby" - clearly he is not agreeing here

Ok, got a few sec's breather so hopefully I'll catch up a bit!

Aside from Lia only sleeping 2 30 minute naps most days.. I've had no domestic for almost two weeks.. so it has been hectic. Today Lia went and randomly slept a 3.5 hour nap allowing me to get so much done around the house because my son was also napping! Yay! So weird though - especially given how short her naps usually are.

Meags - TTC can be stressful, seriously.. lol. Good luck! As for who will look after baby - heck, take baby with you - problem solved!

LucyV - hang in there, it does get better! Baby will soon be able to do longer stretches. Perhaps you can try filling him up more before bedtime e.g. feed him before bath then before sleep too (quite close together) - perhaps that will fill his tummy to go a bit longer for the first stretch. Probably not though, it's just a case of having a very small tummy - soon things will get better.

Vash - it doesn't sound like your baby is starving at all - I think that often baby gets very windy - and they just want to suck for comfort - it relieves the discomfort but can lead to more wind and a vicious circle of feeding, comfort sucking. Do you get much wind out when burping him? My son use to feed every 1-2.5 hours for the first few months - it was hectic but eventually it evened out.

Angelsmom - so sorry to hear about the vomiting incident, how aweful - glad everything is ok now.

Sounds like James has been keeping you very busy Claudia - thank goodness he is back on his old routine - it is exhausting when they do the every 2 hours thing... grrrr

That's so cool that Mark takes Emily out by himself ScribblingAl - most men are scared of small babies to a certain extent and would not a heck venture out alone with them lol.

Bronz - sorry about the shots and that Graeme felt niggly - I hope he is feeling 100% better. So horrible when they cry that heartbreakign cry - it is "different" from their normal moan/ cry. Grame is too friggen adorable!

Zulu - I recon if you have the time/ energy - fresh cooked veggies are definitely better than purity - just as meags says - you know exactly what is in it - and there is no added sugar, salt or anything funny. Having said that, I'm sure the purity is pretty darn good for them because most SA babies are purity babies .

Hey Ladies

Took G for his shots today. Went well for about an hour, then he took a 4 hour nap. When he woke up he was so upset. He had a bit of a temp so gave him the panado and he seems to have settled well now.

Decided to start one bottle a day of formula. I am not fully for the idea of a bottle but for selfish reasons, as it means other people can look after my baby. Was going to express but I just cant get my head around the idea of being milked.

I am also very keen on BLW. So desiree looks like you are going to give us the low down? And we have our resident expert jacadebra. My paed said to us the other day that new research has found that the earlier you feed solids the less allergies the baby has. Any one else heard this?

Took Emily to work today as I had to get my UIF stuff sorted out. It went so well. Everyone was so welcoming and it made me feel so much better about going back to the office after my maternity leave's done.
