Hi all

I know I havent logged on in a while, been so busy... Sienna is taking up most of my time and besides her cramps (yes have a very gassy baby), she is a perfect little angel and couldnt have asked for anything better. She generally feeds every 4 hours and at night has a 7 hour stretch and then a 5 hour, so I feed my last feed at 7pm and then she wakes up at 1am or 2am and then its 6am or 7am.. So not bad at all.. Also she loves food and instead of dropping the 10pm feed, all she does is make it up during the day.. lol...

As for breastfeeding, its all going very well, loving it at the moment and my little girl is too... I really thought that loosing the pre-baby weight of 20kgs would be alot easier.. To date I have only lost the weight I put on while being preggies, and now I am stuck.
As for contraception, I am on a certain pill that you can only use while breastfeeding.. Although I must admit, sex is a little painful and has only happened twice. To be honest my sex drive has gone out the window... :(

Jo-C - how is ur little nunu, hope its getting better.. All the cramps..
The pead told me just to wait it out, babies all are gassy and some are just more vocal about it. I would suggest giving her the telemat, gripe water and cooled boiled water mix before every feed.. It helps with gass and cramps. As for buscopan, i have also read alot about it and will give it in extreme circumstances but my pead said I mustnt give it all the time as its not that safe...

naomicee - eek I hated the 6 week vacciness, I cried more than she did..

Patty - shame, hope babs excema is getting better.. not nice..

Fay, wow sounds so cute, love it when they smile..

Vicky, where did you take her for her vacciness, we took her to the hospital, its damn expensive..

Dee1302 - shame about the bronchitus, hope Thade is better soon soon.. not nice at all. As for demand feeding, whatever works for you is NB! Sienna is great and doesnt mind a routine in the day and demand feed at night, which is usually only 1 feed around 1am or 2am. Her last feed is at 7pm.
So basically she eats, 7am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 7pm, 2am, 7am.

As for going out on my own, yup I have most def, since she was 3 weeks I started driving.. Sienna has been out since she was 5 days old.. So she is used to going everywhere...

As for alone time with hubby, its very difficult, but all good, as he understands that its not that easy.

Ashbabe, enjoy ur time away.. and glad to hear ur little one is doing well..

xxx

hey everyone,

so finally got my little princess her 6 week injection did it at a pharmacy here in joburg in farramere , benoni called doddys pharmacy (such a lovely lady that does the injections). for R55 . it is the state suply so they dont charge these horrific amounts. the clicks that i phoned was in springs. the injection as i was told was R75 including the rotarix injection.... but when the sister phoned me back to say she got stock i couldnt get to her as it is quite far away and i dont have transport.... only on the weekends when hubby is home.
naiomicee- if you interested in going to this clinic let me know and ill post there phone number ... i know benoni is quite a drive for you but like i said R55 is not bad and the lady is so nice... there is sume that they dont get from the government then it is extra but nothing hectic.... not like most places over R1000
im not on contraception... have had my tubes cut and tied so apparently impossible for me to conceive.."so im told" anyway still get my monthlys wich is really irritataing considering im never gonna need the period...( in order to fall pregnant)

kassandra is weighing 4,9 kgs and is 59cm tall which the sister was quite happy with .

i so feel you on one child being awake and other sleeping when trying to get sum alone time with hubby.... except mine is plus one as ive got three , so normally we will get the older two to sleep them little princess will wake up or vice versa. you know how it goes...

i only have my gynae appointment on monday as my gynae was out of town on holiday and then came back and needed to catch up with all his pregnant patients.

hows the weight loss going with you guys mine has come to an end. ive lost the 13kgs i picked up during pregnancy but nothing more wants to come off. so fustrating and dont really have money to go on weighless or any other fancy diets.... and i cant really say that im eating alot so i dont know what is happening.,,,,,

anyways must go.....

Hey you guys, missed you...

VICKY, which Clicks? I called the one in Rosebank mall, they said its costs R1250 for the 6 week shot, so we took her to the gov clinic in Midrand, we got there just after 7, and 45 mins later we were done, and this was during the strike!! Figured I'll take her there again for all her shots. ..DH is already talking about having number 3 already, but I'm not even willing to discuss it now... :  Still hung up on labour pains, nothing compares to that!

Dee, glad to hear there's nothing hectic on your side ok...LOL I know what you mean, I felt like that this past Sunday, my boy wasn't feeling so good, he was throwing up and had a fever, baby Jasmine would NOT let me hold my son... she would cry the minute I put her down... then I picked them both up together, I was alone, nanny was away for the weekend, DH was at the shop, I nearly joined the screaming marathon

I sometimes feel like I bit off more than I could chew, but I need this job :( :( :( It will get better with time though, I KNOW IT!!

Hello ladies!

Well I have been scarce as well because of the technical issues, everytime I tried posting, it would bomb out, and I just gave up afterwards.

Glad to hear you all doing well ;-) we also have the baby acne but I had it with ODD as well, so I am not concerned, luckily for me most of it is on his chest, so its not visible.

So Thade was 7 weeks on Wednesday and weighs 5.2 kg's ;-) My big little man ;-) he has been ill though, is recovering from bronchiolitus as well as an ear infection, and is currently on antio biotics ;( not ideal but his chest was really tight at one point, and I was actually worried that he may have been admitted, but thankfully not. He sounds ALOT better today though ;-)

JoC most newborns go through that phase of only wanting to sleep on your chest....I have the same issue, as soon as I out him down, if he doesnt wake up immediately, he wakes up within 10-20min. You need to try and put him down when his in a deep sleep....which usually takes about 20min for babies to get into, If you put them down while still in REM sleep, they awake almost immediately. Hope this helps...

I know your pead said you feeding too much, but ALL literature I have read on BF says that you cannot overfeed your child. And I discussed with this my paed who agreed. Thade also CONSTANTLY wanted to be on the breast, and it worked for me , cos he was calm when he was sucking (he refuses a dummy!). I say that if you fine with him comfort feeding, then do it...its not harmful..... and eventually they grow out of it. Thade was feeding almost on the hr a few weeks ago, and when he was not feeding, he was fussy... now we can go at least 30 min to an hr of him being awake and cheerful ;-) So they do grow out of it.

I found that the pressure of getting him on a feeding schedule was just too much for me...so I demand feed, and he eats when he is hungry.....;-) This however works for me, and may not work for all ;-)

I also havent got a solid routine yet.... I will start one when he is 3 months old or so... he wont know te difference ;) With ODD I was so worried about getting a routine that I was stressed out when things didnt go according to plan... now I take things as they come and I am finding that this relaxes approach is alot better for everyone's sanity ;-)

My only issue I am having now is my ODD has also started waking up at night now *sigh* and throwing full blown tantrums as well. This is somewhat age appropriate behavior, but I also believe she is acting out because of the new arrival... my new motto - "this too shall pass!!" lol

Thade also wakes up every 2-3 hrs at night, but luckily for me he feeds and goes back to sleep immediately....so I am up for 15min max.... and he sleeps very well during the day....2-3 strecthes at a time. I am lucky I will admit, because I know with ODD this was not the case and I was petrified of going through that again!

She did not like sleep lol and was lucky to get an hr at a time of her being down... it was usually between 10min - 30min, and in this time I would have to scramble to eat and brush my teeth !!

But ladies, it does get easier ;) JoC hang in there ;) the gas usualy starts subsiding by 8 weeks... it peaks between 6 and 8 weeks tho, so be prepared during this time. But I am sure you should start seeing a difference by week 9.

Other than ladies, I feel so blessed to have these 2 wonderful bundles of joy... and yes there are times when I wonder what the hell was I thinking having kids ?? lol but other times when I cannot imagine life without them.

I am though missing quality time with DH as this is non existant lol usually when the one kid is alseep, the other is awake, and when they both alseep, its time for me to rest as well!! Anyone else struggling to find alone time with hubby??

I am also on contraception and gynae check up went fine...

Anyone have any plans for the weekend?

have you taken your LO's out on your own yet?
