You are really lucky to have milk! A lot of woman struggle with breastfeeding and others are just born to feed.

I've had breast implants done under the muscle and wonder if I will get it right to breastfeed?
When I did my antenatal classes they suggested baby massage to assist baby to feel more at ease....

I must tell you all about this dvd that someone gave me for my baby shower.
Its called "baby languages"
There are different cries that a baby makes to inform you of their state....
I can't wait to test it on my little one but seeing as most of are already have yours here goes:
There is only 5 to remember:
Nah -means hungry (they might even just cry with a n in their cry)
Eh- means burp me mommy. They have a bubble in their chest. This could be while they are breastfeeding or drinking bottle
Eairth: this cry happens when baba wasn't burped and the air bubble has moved down in tummy....at this point your baby will go frantic
Neh: uncomfortable, this could be diaper,temperature too hot or cold or you should change baby's position
Owh: tired and sleepy

This has been tried and tested with many different children and it really seems like it works...let me know!!!!

Newyum mum u can go back the pages to look for my induction techniques I wrote for Anje or I can write them for you later (3am here at the moment...) And yes you can do them even if baby is not engaged. A lot of them are more old wives tales such as eating eggplant or jumping up and down. None of them are medical or even scientific really! The things I tried that co-incided with labour were eating eggplant parmiagani and watching birthing videos on you tube!

I pumped 2 hours ago. Woke now with exceptionally engorged breast. Tried to pump...took 20 mins before anything even started to come out. Then after about 40ml realised I have TWO new blocked ducts finally got them open. Pumped 170ml from ONE breast and its not empty. I am totally fed up. Lactation consultant said I have over supply and must only pump 1 breast every 2 hours alternating the breasts. I can't at night. I am way too engorged. Really hating everything about breast right now.

She also said since matt can't function unless swaddled-he has sensory disturbance probably from the traumatic birth. (Can't function as in hates lying on your chest, can't feed unless swaddled, can't sleep etc. His arms and legs kick furiously and he goes stiff etc-swaddling stops that). So tomorrow we are seeing a cranial sacral therapist to try help with that. Seems its never ending...

Meags.....what induction techniques??? Is it safe if the heads not down.......If you referring to love making......tried it in my obese state (not fun) on many (the only one benefiting is my hubby) occasions.....and nothing!!!

What Cohen book??? I flippen have every book you can think of except that one.. I went for classes about breastfeeding and they say you should give your baby a breast like you would eat a Big Mac.....slightly flatten so that baby can open wide (I can't tell you if it works.....but give it a go........) Don't give up.....it will happen.

Betty: I also remember Princess Diana getting married too......although I was very young......just could not understand what Diana saw in Charles.

So today I am FULL term......I must admit I feel energized and the best I have felt my whole pregnancy.......maybe the end is in view...

Meags- thanks for the info re: the bottles. I think that Rakker? Also mentioned the playtex bottles. Does M notice the difference. Terrible that you are having such tough time with the BF. I admire you for your perseverance.
The sister at our clinic used to keep telling me to make sure baby's mouth is around the whole breats, and not just the nipple and then also to make sure babies lips are not pursed, but like fish lips, and thus can't pinch the nipple. That helped me with the pain...I also went through a while of cringing, dreading feeding time, cracked bleeding nipples, lazer- sending DH to the shop to get nipple shields, etc etc.
Hope you get some relief....you are really doing a wonderful job!! Well done on the weight gain, wow time flies, can't believe M is 3 weeks already!

Emsmom- thanks for letting me know about the shop. I did go there a while back, but was looking for other things, so will look there again. There is also a branch in Green Point, so if I get out of work earlier today I will go and have a look!

Rakker- wow LG has grown so much in a week. I am dying to find out how much my baby has grown in the last 2 weeks... Will only know next week Are you still working?

Newyum mum - lol re the royal wedding, I too am hoping baby comes by then... It is my EDD. 29 April!

Kimika, I am certain they will show it on tv. Hope I don't give birth that day, because I would like to watch it. I remember being about 5 years old or so and watching Princess Diana's wedding at nursery school, boy do I feel old...
Glad R made a poo poo!

AFM - 38 weeks today, finally packed my hospital bag. Did a separate bag for baby. Did that work for those of you who packed separate bags? Still want to get one or 2 things for the bag, but I can go as is.....
DH off on business again today.. He is busy getting ready to go to airport now..
No plans this weekend- hairdresser- will probably not be able to go again very soon, and then I may take M to watch DH play hockey- I also probably wont be able to do that again very soon.

I wish I had read Sam Cowen's book. I honestly feel like i am the only woman in the world who is having such a horrid breastfeeding experience!! I cant understand why he wont latch at all? Not even try?! I am sure when he does latch it is by mistake...as it happens so rarely and he only sucks like twice and doesnt latch again for that feed. It's very frustrating and upsetting. But yes, I can imagine if I just switched to formula everything would be easier. I wouldnt get engorged at night and have to set alarms to wake up to pump. He may even sleep better since formula generally keeps them fuller for longer. no more sore nipples. Gosh I could go on and on and on and on....I have no idea why I am so determined with this bloody breastfeeding!

Newyum mum have you tried any natural induction techniques?

Matt seems to be finding his voice. He is starting to make little sounds but only every now and then..like he wonders where it comes from and then stops!!
He didnt poo yesterday and then had 1 massive one this morning and none since...generally he does a few a day. oh well. he's only on breastmilk so I'm sure he's fine.

DH came home at a decent time and has settled Matt. although he's not 100% settled as we have to keep getting up to put the dummy back in (he now lives in the swing!!). Hope we can make it through dinner without him fussing. So far I have only eaten 1 hot meal with my mom and DH since we came back from hospital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone got Anje's number? Maybe someone can sms her and see how she's doing?

Kimika:It will be awesome if myself and Rakker could give birth this weekend..... I am already thinking how crappy it would be to have kiddies birthday parties on the easter weekend.My poor baby will have no friends around (I think I have way too much time to think about sh*t)

Meags, wow you are still doing great friend!! You really get a *hats off* for your amazing effort. The painfull nipples is bad There is just nothing that will soothe those nipples other than resting them Ive found the times when my nipples get the most punishment is when he nurses often and for a long time, like when he sleeps with me. Then it takes a full day before its not sore when he latches anymore. But if you say that he latched then that is great already! The latch is the worst, as soon as he gets the active drinking going the pain will settle, and if he latches well and drinks correctly it will actually help soothe the pain too. Its good that you extended your appointment with the LC, try and see if you can get your nipples sorted a bit so that you dont have to cringe when he latches anymore. And then maybe if you can get him to nurse from breast and dont have to express anymore then your nipples wont hurt? Ag I so hope all your pain and stress is almost over!!! *hugs*

Rakker, Im going to hold thumbs for you that your baba comes over the weekend! I know you said no walking but I kinda believe walking is the magic ingredient

AFM: yippeee!! Finally R did a yellow one a HUGE one! Once again I feel like I won the lottery So from here on Im not going to worry that he is constipated.
