Rakker: You lucky that baba has descended. The problem is doc does not
Feel comfortable about induction without the head being engaged. So you gonna be released soon........its nice to know there are some doc out there that are still pro-natural birth!

I have the perfect pelvis for natural birth can go up to 12cm.....enough for a brainy child to squeeze through. My best friend told me that her babies descended a day oor two before her water broke.......just getting worried now. But all woman carry different and experience differently.

I have decided to be a peace with whatever happens.........I am not in control of this situation and having a baba is stressful enough.. All I know is that the baby can not stay in there forever!!!

Oh yes, Meags. You asked about LG's weight. On Tuesday (36 weeks and 5 days) she was on 3.4kg. Picked up 400g in just 1 week, so deffinitely a growth spurt. That is also why I am extra tired.

Sorry Meags, I was on my way to reply when DH arrived. Firstly, do whatever you can with the breast feeding, but when you decide you have had enough (I would have long ago...), don't beat yourself up about it. You have really done everything possible, so be gentle on yourself. I remember so well in "Waiting for Cristopher" (Sam Cowen's book) the part where she decided to leave breast and even breast milk after being miserable for weeks (baby miserable with her). She started enjoying motherhood and was a much happier person (also got more sleep).

Now back to your questions. I actually feel OK. My insides feel all funny and all of a sudden I'm struggling with gas, without being constipated. The pressure of LG's head in my pelvis is quite a thing and I find moving around in any way is actually very uncomfortable. Other than that I am sooo tired all the time. Also had an emotional spell (remember what I told you before Matt was born). I friggen cried about a song playing on the radio and not because the words touched me, but only because I really loved the song... My cold causes me to wake up at night, so I don't get the rest that I should. I probably have a bacterial throat infection, but don't want to drink antibiotics as I always get thrush even with probiotics. And that I deffinitely don't want when planning a natural birth... For my sake and LG's.

For the natural induction techniques... Not sure which of these really work, but I have done pineapple, the eggplant dish (munching on some now), the pressure point between thumb and index finger and little bit of nipple stimulation. The latter I didn't have the time and patience for (to do for 15 minutes a side like they suggest, LOL). Sex while not able to breath through my nose and with LG's head in my pelvis (uncomfy) won't happen... Tonight I'm going to bounce a bit on the gym ball. Between my last 2 gynae visits I did that and think that is what made LG drop. Walking won't happen either. Let's see what happens the next few days. I am truely sick of pineapple and the eggplant thingy. Both of those are harsh on my poor tongue that is already covered with 4 or 5 cold sores. I will still do the ball and the pressure point (will also try the one above the ankle if I can reach it...).

OK, let me go bounce on the ball.

oh I wanted to say that yesterday at 20 days old, Matt has only gained 220g and grown 3cm.
I think he actually wont gain much until he stops his hysterical crying! In NICU they told me that if a baby cries for more than 20 minutes at a time, they start burning off calories...eish...Matt easily can cry for an hour at a time!!

Last night it took 70 minutes to get him back to sleep at 3am....I was so tired and annoyed. He wasnt really crying - but he was wide awake!

My breast is incredibly sore :( seems if I lower the vacuum on the pump, I get blocked up. when I have vacuum set high, my nipples take a beating. how am I ever going to win this friggin BF battle??? I am really fed up and just feel like crying as I am trying so so hard and it just seems like it'll never work

My gynae is quite pro natural, so she won't just suggest CS because it fits her (she is also on leave from 22 April to 3 May). It was quite a worry for me that she might be gone when baby arrives, but due to a significant drop in amniotic fluid she wil induce on 20 April if baby is not yet here. Hopefully she decides to come soon on her own. So the induction is merely because of the amniotic fluid. She doesn't even mention a CS due to the size of the baby, thank goodness, because that is many people's reason. As far as I know, not all babies move down before labour starts, expecially if it's not the 1st one. My LG (2nd child) has dropped and her head is fully engaged.

Schatsie, is it just me or does he look just like his mommy?

Nope, the resemblance is quite striking. I also wanted to make that same comment.

Hi ladies

ok quick personals from the last 5 pages!
Kimika - I love all your photos. You are an absolutely stunning preggy woman and Reuben is so friggin cute!!!!!!!!!!!

EmsMom - I cant really just go to my room to BF as I dont want my mom feeling rejected or something...but this morning I was downstairs feeding him and she didnt come down...so I think she was giving me space to try the BF. And as for that...I will update at the end on my attempt!!

Schatsie - Arno is so cute man!!! You must just be so overjoyed and I am so so happy for you that he is breastfeeding well. I know you were worried about that.

MistyMom - gosh 39 weeks. I was hysterical by that point trying EVERYTHING possible to get him out!!! I really hope yours comes soon! Oh and I wanted to say that my guess is team blue for you. Are you trying anything to get labour going?

BettyF - I was recommended to use the Playtex AirVente Advanced with a standard nipple (think its called that...definitely Playtex though). They are the small thin bottles not the wide neck. and it has a curve in it. Then I have to lie him in a BF position and slide the bottle between my breast and his mouth so that he is use to feeding in that position. have to put the teat at his nose and get him to open wide then bring him towards the bottle instead of putting bottle in his mouth. must not give him bottle after a burp - he must mouth around looking for it. It all sounds easy but when he is crying and hysterical - it's not really! plus she said I should be skin to skin and let his hands feel the breast but there are 2 problems with that 1) my nipples are so sore if he touches them I want to scream and 2) he needs to be swaddled to feed as when his arms are loose, he is hysterical and wont feed.
We see the chiro 3 times per week and are on an "endless" journey really. I have made an advanced payment for 1 month as it's SOOOO much cheaper than paying per session. So we definitely there until 11 May. Then I will see if it's worth continuing.
I am suppose to see the LC tomorrow evening but will explain at the end of the post why I am rather going to delay it.

Claire - you must be so excited to have a final due date!!!!! How many weeks will you be?

Amy - still no name yet? what do you call her when you talk about her or to her?

Joli - well done on Kimika's photos - they are so divine

Tazzy - how is gym going?

KarinM - come visit us on Moomie when you get a chance!!

Driekie - of course we remember you!! Is everything ok????

Hlise - I love your daughter's name :) Cant wait to see pics!

Lucy - so jealous you got a 7 hour stretch...Dont your boobs get engorged though?? Well done on Tessa's weight!! She weighs more than Matt!

Cath - you are so lucky W is so peaceful :) And no - my weight is not falling off!! I have lost just over 10kg and I picked up 20kg so only half way :( I am not sure if DH is proud of me?! He doesnt say anything...He just complains that I dont sleep during the day when M does. But I feel like I cant just do that and leave my mom sitting around alone doing nothing...

Rakker - almost time for you! How you feeling? What have you tried to bring on labour? What was baby's weight at the last scan?

Carmen - go buy a swing!! Matt sleeps so well in his and you get like an hour or more of "you" time!

ok now my update.
I have a f++king blocked duct again in the other breast now. My nipples are SO sore it is ridiculous. I use the Lanolin cream after each pump. I have now bought coconut oil - apparently it works better. LC suggested I pump more often for less time. So instead of doing every 3 hours and getting 200ml, rather pump every hour and a half and get 100ml (or however much). so today I am doing that. but with this blocked duct it is frustrating. oh yes and she said I must do more often as I need to lower the suction on the pump as she thinks its too high and therefore causing sore nipples.
So this morning I tried to put him at the breast and he wasnt very interested at all. Then suddenly he clamped down and gave 2 sucks and I wanted to jump through the roof in pain!!! So I was so relieved that he started crying and let go!!! I did not offer the breast again.
So I am going to cancel appointment with LC that was tomorrow night. I need a few days to sort out the nipples because it's a nightmare to try feed with this pain.

ok gotta go he's crying
