AAAAAgggghhhh!!! Have spent 30 minites trying to get online! My connection keeps on dropping!

But yay I am here now!

Sorry been a it absent the last few days but was so busy tying things up at work.

Hi ladies

Sorry dont think I have time for personals as Matt is starting to stir already.

Just to let you know I saw the lactation consultant yesterday (for 5 hours!!!!!) and Matt is breastfeeding!! Can you believe it?? There are still moments where he puts up a hell of a fight - but generally it's working! Miracle I tell you. She has advised lots of skin to skin to get him use to my smell etc and co sleeping (hehe DH is now even on board with this...) so last night he was in bed all night with us. consultant advised that I allow him to sleep at night (up to 4 hours) and only wake him at 4 hours for a feed. during the day I must wake him every 2 hours so that he learns the difference between day and night. so last night I did have to wake him - he was quite happy to sleep! So in total I got 8 hours of sleep! Feel so rested. so he will definitely be staying in the bed until the breastfeeding is 100% smooth. He is a bit tongue tied so he is going to have his tongue snipped (poor child) soon. I am just waiting for the paed to phone me back to refer me to paediatric surgeon. He still cries a lot after each feed...so I am thinking he does have reflux. will see what paed says.
consultant also said no more dummy - but I'm not going with that advise. he needs it to fall asleep (and calm the hysterical crying) so I am using it. Oh and he is only latching with a nipple shield. which is fine. better than nothing.

ok now he's crying so gotta go!

also still struggling with those belly pics but have not forgotten. Matt is 1 week old today lost 7kg so far...14 to go!

Meags - I am so glad your DH has come around (was worried for you) I hope Matthieu is allowing mom to get sleep and everything else is getting / is sorted.

Jessica - so great to meet you at the expo today I hope you get your teeth fixed soon (as in you got appointment for tomorrow) and good luck with the wedding on Sat.. you have to come tell about the hair and decor matching please...lol
Otherwise nothing really, going to gynae tomorrow and netcells appointment..

well we're all finally back at home. I've been following everyone on my cellphone, but its much easier to do facebook updates on a phone than moomie ones.

Lucy, sorry you had a rough experiance, but glad you are happy now.

Misty and Schatsie, enjoy your last day of work! Not long now till you also have your babies in your arms.

Anje - any signs yet?

Amy, dont stress about the c-section, I've just had one and am doing wonderfully.

Cath, well done on the tennis! I can also not wait to get up and active again.

Meag hon, how are you doing? Getting any better with Mat? Keep strong, you are a great mommy and doing the best you can for him.

AFM, doing super well, Kate is such a chilled little worm. She just sleeps, eats, burps herself and makes the cutest little noises. She has only cried when getting bathed (cause the nurses put like just enough water to get her lower body wet in the bath) when she got her shots and when the evil breastfeeding women tried to shove her head onto my boob (she was informed quickly that I didn't need her as I had bf before and know exactly what I'm doing)

Otherwise she is so calm. Everything is going great, I'm in no pain at all and my biggest issue to trying to remind myself to go wee, cause my bladder isn't used to being able to get to full!

Now I'm going to have a nap and having friends around for supper later.

You are doing nothing wrong love. My babies both did that. It's a question of the size of the vessel (bb's) and the amount of milk they contain and how quickly that is emptied at each feed and then how fast babies tummy requires another feed. Some babies are slloooow drinkers and seem like they drink forever and then scream for more 40 mins later but as in my case i am not overly well endowed and so what was available at each feed only lasted my kids a very short while at a time. So now not knowing you i don't know if this is the same in your case but would say there is nothing wrong with a feed every hour, it's quite normal and would be what we ex BF'rs call Demand feeding and beleive me where there is demand the supply better be there waiting. Good luck and keep the faith it does eventually settle and balance out at about 6 weeks where the feeds stop being so cloth together. Just keep feeding where you can and if you would like express some milk and administer it in between feeds with a syringe so you don't feel like a Moo Cow 24/7
