Lucy - ooooh I'm so excited for you. I have been reading up on some old posts on the TTC thread and I can't believe my baby is in my arms and yours will be on friday. The time has gone so quickly!

Meags - I think you'll give birth next sat! Day after Lucy. Can't wait!! I'm sure all that museum walking must be doing something. I love the pics on fb. You looking lovely!

Kimika & Joli - we are lucky that the prevenar shots and rotarix is free now, I paid R2200 for hannahs prevenar. So that's a huge saving this time!
I haven't really decided if I'm going the private vac route that I did with hannah.
I'm thinking of perhaps doing free clinic vacs for the first 3. (6 , 10 and 14 weeks) then use the private ones cos they offer vacs for . MMR and chicken pox.

Ag now I can't remember what else I wanted to say!

Meags - Hee hee that was a long post!! I managed 2 and a half hours twice in the night. So still feeling pretty good. Do you prop a hip up when you sleep on your back? How do you make sure M doesn't get hypoxic? My gynae said no to back sleeping! Perhaps with the better sleep now you may be a little less emotional about M's arrival. I must be honest I was a wreck until I got T's date. Shame man Hugs!!
How you explain the bath process is exactly as the midwife in our antenatal demonstrated, so thanks for the notes and refresher course !!!
Glad you had fun with your DH, think you both needed that.

Her and her DH are not talking much...she desperately wants to try for another baby and he doesnt want to even think about it.

Hi ladies

Well I have figured out a way to sleep that lets me get like 4 or more hours at a time Which is great because I feel so rested in the morning. but there is a catch...I literally cant move when I need to get up or wee cos my back is completely spasmed and sore!! When I sleep on my sides, my pelvis aches so much that it makes me like every 45 minutes and I feel the need to wee a lot. But when I sleep flat on my back, I dont wake up needing to wee often and I sleep for long! (but then get that terrible 'I cant move' pain) - oh well - it's been worth it for the last 2 nights!

The museum was ok yesterday. It's some huge fancy house not far from us that some millionaire lived in AGES ago that is now a museum and garden place. So we walked around there for 2 hours. Then we came home and played Xbox Kinect. Oh my word it's so physical!! There was so much jumping and ducking low and kicking etc. I had to hold my tummy the whole time to keep it stable But it was fun. DH then found a demo trial of the dance game...I have NEVER laughed so much in my life!!!!!!! MY DH is the world's WORST dancer!!! He has no co-ord, he cannot copy a dance move to save his life. Oh my word it was the funniest thing. He kept saying how hard it was - so then I tried and got 100% hehe...

Lucy did you get another 3 hour stretch of sleep last night?? Can you believe in 4 more nights you'll be a mommy???????

AmyB sounds like you were nesting this weekend Amazing how out of nowhere you suddenly have energy to cook, clean and study!!!
I also have the Graco pram and carseat. I love it. The only thing I am annoyed with is that the car seat can be installed into the car either on a base or just straight into the car. But either way, it takes up a huge amount of space. So the passanger seat has to be really far forward and literally straight up. So who ever sits in the passanger seat is going to be very uncomfortable with hardly any leg room!! I know the previous car seat I had in SA for the orphans wasn't like that...so either its the car seat, or the car itself - maybe the seats are not very deep...
Our baby will be sleeping in his own room. DH does not want the baby in our room as he says it creates bad habits...I dont really agree but I also think he should have a say in decisions so I let him win that one. I know when I cared for the orphans I was distracted a lot throughout the night as baby's make loads of noises in their sleep - so perhaps having Matt in his own room will help and I'll only wake when he is crying instead of each and every niggle. However, I am almost sure there are going to be quite a few nights that I just bring him into bed with me for convenience! But it really is your choice where baby will be sleeping.
I will be bathing baby in the kitchen while he is still small. Our baby bath fits over the sink (I must still just check if it's not too high, otherwise I'll fill the bath in the sink and put it on the dining room table). I know it's preferred to do it in a room where you can close all the windows and doors and keep the room as warm as possible. But it's bloody hot and humid here so I dont think he will get cold. I have a compactum down here too so thats where I'll dry him and change him. The bath in his bathroom is really low and has this stupid glass door which is a pain so I will only bath him in there once he is a bit bigger (around 4 months) when he is more in control of his body and head. Well this is the plan...I'll see what works best once he's born.
Only advice I have for you for bath time is:
- Make sure you have everything you need before you begin (A towel, a face cloth, soap/shampoo, cotton wool, surgical spirits (for the cord), clothes for baby to wear after, a nappy, wet wipes, bum cream etc)
- If you have forgotten something...wrap baby in the towel and take baby with you to get whatever you forgot. Even if it is just like 20 metres away and you think it'll only take 3 seconds to get...I just feel better to be safe than sorry.
- Keep all windows and doors closed to prevent any draughts from coming in the room that can make baby cold (they lose body heat really quickly)
- First wash baby's face with warm water and cotton wool. Undress baby leaving just nappy, wrap in a towel and then wash baby's hair. Dry thoroughly. Then take off nappy, soap baby down and place into bath and rinse off the soap (make sure the nurses show you all this in hospital before you leave.)
- Once baby is bathed, try to dry them and dress them as quick as possible. Some babies HATE bath time, others love it. So if they hate it, they are going to scream the whole way through. Dont get upset. And dont lose sight of what you are trying to achieve. Get the bath over and done with as quick as possible, dress baby and dont hesitate.
Im not sure about the other mom's, but usually I would bath the baby before a feed. They sleep so well after bathing, so I would bath the baby, give the bottle and then they would go to sleep. I would then clean up the bath area once the baby was settled or sleeping.

Faw - hmm it's a bit concerning that temp....please keep an eye on it. And as Lucy said, cabbage leaves around the nipple all over the boob. Can you not maybe go to a clinic? I know its not ideal...but you can get antibiotics for free

EmsMom - I am so proud of your little Spec for holding out for all your family - what a good baby Now if you make it to Sunday, you are considered full term!! How awesome! Well done to you for being such a good incubator

Well today I am going to buy the last bits and pieces we need for the house. I was going to do this once my mom was here...but I'm bored and decided to just go do it. Then I want to clean the floors (again...sigh...) and go do grocery shopping.
I think tomorrow I am going to make some more freezer meals. May as well since Matthieu is deciding not to come out! May as well make use of the time I have!
Have been very emotional about him not coming out...cried a lot on Saturday and Sunday! I am definitely going to ask for the stretch and sweep on Thursday and thinking of going for another massage on the Friday.
If he's not here by 41 weeks I will ask for induction. I'm really sad about that as I know the contractions from an induction are a lot worse than naturally being in labour and therefore I may need the epidural But I cant wait until 42 weeks as then my mom really wont have much time with him and I think I might be a basketcase waiting until then!
