Hi Ladies! :)

Meags, cute blog post I enjoyed it, very informative!

Faw I am so horrified by the alcohol story oh my WORD! But as usual you sound like you are doing great, even under really challenging circumstances - great attitude, and great example to your little sons!! Awesome.

Betty - LOL re looking back on photos I am sooo motivated to lose the last of my pregnancy weight (about 3 kilos, have lost 9 of them, put on 12) AND what I put on during hte year BEFORE getting pregnant which was 7! So wish me luck! Just still REALLY enjoying sweet htings  am going to have to deal with that soon!

William is resting what a little beautiful slept beautifully from about 10pm til 1h45 and then really didn't settle again til about 4h00! but I grabbed bits of sleep in between. He is such a sweetheart and toooo cute for words!! He doesn't liek his musica mobile thing (Yet) we put it on for him and he craned his neck away from it as far as possbile and looked at the curtains instead LOL! Still seems to like the simpler things in life! I am getting very cold at nigth - I said to my mom and dh I think it's my body going into shock having to be up so often at night LOL! :) But this too shall pass and it's wonderful to be able to be here for him 24/7 - one month maternity leave down and 3 to go!! YAY still feels lovely and long!

My routine is not gonig so well to do it really PROPERLY you must start your first feed at 6am that's often when we've just fallen asleep again and thtat throws things out a bit but am going to perservere!

Who mentioned being nervous and everyone sounding so experienced? Well I'm 37 and this is my first one and am rather clueless (read much more abuot pregnancy than about babies to be honest) but it is true that your instinct kicks in and often wtih my mom, dh, mom in law etc I'll say no he wants this, or we should do taht and I've been 'right' each time. You really do know your own child - it's amazing.

Morning all

Half way through the week! Can't believe it, and a long weekend - for us who are still at work.

Anje - thanks for asking, M's are is better, there is a scar but there are no more bites and swelling. I still need to get the linen for the Moses basket, but sat least I know I can get it from the society for the blind if need be. Also think that DH not loosing his tummy is soo funny. My DH also needs to loose his tummy. I was looking at photos of 2005 we were both thin and had no grey hair. How thing have changed.

Amy - I am 35. Gee forgot for a while and had to work it out :(
Kind of stopped count in when I hit 30.
I only got married at 29, spent way too many years partying
Had my first child Matthew when I was 32. But even though I was older, still very green. I have loads of nieces and nephews but nothing prepared me for my own. Your maternal instinct will kick in and you will know what is right or wrong for your baby.
Oh in the scan thing and the Edd I asked my Gynae the same question on Monday. He told me that the first date they give you is the due date, the variations happen due to the size of the baby. I got such a fright because mine said the 16 April and my Edd is 29th.
The flatulence sounds normal, I have also been suffering from it lol!

Faw, I am glad you managed to go to the funeral. I thought you couldn't for religious reasons.
Enjoy the naming ceremony. Do you also shave the baby's head?

Wanted to write more but m is awake, got to get him ready for school...

Have a happy day everyone xx

Faw sorry you had such a hectic day and I cannot believe your aunt was giving your son alcohol! That is TOTALLY unacceptable and I really would have flipped my lid.
Try to rest now...you need to recover from the c-section. you dont want to cause unneccesary problems like an internal bleed or something...
make sure you write down all your questions for Friday's appointment. I know I always think I will remember everything and as soon as I leave I realise there were so many questions I forgot to ask!

I have booked for a massage on Friday evening. And asked her to try stimulate the pressure points so will see if it does anything!

I also updated my blog with a very "matter of fact" post which I think is rather amusing (well for people like us anyway) so pop over and read it if you like (the link is under my ticker)

I cooked the final meal today for the freezer and I dont think it's come out right which really annoys me as I REALLY didnt feel like cooking and now it looks dodge...so we are going to eat it for dinner tonight :p then I'll decide if I should make another one or not as there is still half of almost all the ingredients left.
hope DH and I dont die from food poisoning! hehe

HI Girls,
Wow, what a hectic sad day it was today. Yes Betty it was my grans funeral today. I decided in the end that I was going to show my aunt that not only can I handle 2 children but I would be in the church in my hijab (all you see are my face and hands). So off I went. I haven’t seen my step grandfather since around August last year. He was always a tall well rounded man.. not too fat, but def not thin. I was in for such a shock and I just sat there in the church crying my eyes out. He is a broken man and as skinny as me. He is in a wheelchair. I had to look at his shoes to make sure it was him as I have only ever seen him in one type of shoe and it was him.
I saw him and 2 of my cousins, the one I haven’t seen in about 12 years or so. She went crazy over my AH and took him and looked after him for me. After the funeral I went to feed AH in a room on my own, the next thing my brother comes barging into the room in such a state and told me to go save my son from my aunt. I asked him why and it turns out that she was giving him gin and tonic. I had to forcibly remove him from her. He was clinging to her like she was the best person on this earth. I was freaking out and insisting that I wanted my son and I wanted him NOW. I nearly started to yell at her and hit her when she said that all she had in her glass was water. It turns out that my brothers fiancée saw what went into the glass and when she saw what my aunt was doing alerted my brother who panicked and came as fast as he could. Thank heavens Sulaiman wasn’t drunk, but she knows its against my religion and for f@kk sake he isn’t even 2 years old yet. I made him eat a lot of crisps and told my mom what was going on and she also made sure that he ate. And together we made sure he didn’t go anywhere near her again. I didn’t even bother to say good bye to her. She is planning on swindling my dad out of his part of the inheritance as well and thank heavens my mom has a friend who has A LOT of connections and he has organised someone to go with my mom to the Master of the Court to make sure that my aunt is not the sole executor of my grans estate. She should know not to try mess with us, but she thinks she is clever. We will get the last laugh when she realises she is not ALL THAT. I told my mom that once my dad has his inheritance that we ARE cutting all ties with them. My dad cannot fight for himself so my mom has taken it upon herself to fight for him. She is also going to do it to fight for my step grandfather who she is also trying to swindle him out the will, so its two fold. Its quite a large inheritance and it will see my mom and dad through for quite a while and my mom will be able to relax.
By the time I got home though I was a broken woman. It was way too much for me as I did a lot of walking and my feet are so swollen you would think that I was still working at table mountain.. the skin is so stretched and painful. I checked my blood pressure and its back to normal.. 127/83 or there abouts but my pulse is still in the 100s per minute.
Betty I have not told my DH as of yet about the birth because I feel he doesn’t need to know. As far as I am concerned he was just a sperm donar.. and he didn’t get paid to donate the sperm and he sure hasn’t contributed anything else to his children. Its very sad and sometimes I think that I should really tell him and he will be angry when he finds out, but all he did last time while I sat in pain was laugh at me. He really doesn’t deserve his children and its sad but it’s the reality of the situation.
Tazzy I really hope that you come right with the clots, thank goodness I haven’t had any more or I think I would be rushing back to the hospital.
Our neighbours across the road have organised for AH to have a naming ceremony tomorrow. I didn’t want to do this as it is not in line with what they do in KZN, but I decided that they are not doing anything to hurt AH and they have done so much for me that I will just go with the flow. It has to be done within 7 days of the birth so it will be done tomorrow early evening to fall inline with what they do here in Cape Town.
On Friday I am going to have my stitches taken out which I am not looking forward to, but it gives me a chance to ask all the questions that I need to ask. I am not sure where to go for my 6 week check up and if I have to have baby weighed every week or not… the list is quite long.
Joli I did half of Sulaimans injections privately and the other half I did through government and its basically the same thing, just the one place you have an appointment and pay through your arm and leg and the other you sit in a queue. We were on medical aid back then so we didn’t mind.
I wanted to have my son circumcised, but he has a problem with his penis, all the parts are there, but instead of the urethra being at the tip of the penis its somewhere else.. they think at the top but are not sure so I have been told to wait 2 to 3 months and see a paed and then work from there. I cannot remember the name, but other muslim neighbours wanted to know if he had been circumcised yet or not and when I said no I was told not to by the medical profession I got dirty looks… honestly. I also don’t have that problem you ladies talk about with regards to pointing his penis down because it seems to be permanently that way.
Schatsie thank you for explaining the spd and the way you walk when you get out of bed etc. I realise now that I also had it. I also used to hobble a lot and hated getting out the car and out of bed because the pain in my pelvis was so bad. I would also try hold everything together til I felt it wasn’t so painful. I had the same problem with Sulaiman and didn’t bother with it. If I should ever get pregnant again I will definitely get a belt to help with the pain. It was terrible, but I didn’t want to complain too much… except to my mom. LMAO!!!!!
If there is anyone else that I have missed I am sorry. I still have one page to read, but I am way too exhausted and my eyes are busy shutting.
Hugs.

Amy I am younger than you. I am 25 and turn 26 in September.
I think I may be the youngest on the thread?

As for the grapes...eish I read the recovery was about 10 days! How long did yours take? Apparently they can either surgically remove them, tie a rubber band around them and then they fall off in 7-10 days or they can now be lasered off too. I have suffered with them for MANY years. I think I had my first case when I was only about 14 years old!! I am sure it's related to poor diet....but since I hate cooking and I really struggle with water intake - I really struggle with grapes!

you can definitely still have a natural birth with SPD. It will not hinder anything.
BH is a practise contraction and basically the uterus becomes hard, but it is painless. It is sometimes uncomfortable and you may find that changing position or emptying your bladder relieves that discomfort. But as soon as you get that hardening of the uterus with pain - it is likely labour contractions (as long as they are frequent and regular). BH are also irregular and have no pattern to them.
not everyone experiences BH. and some people get BH and never actually notice them!
I think I should cope fine the first few weeks even if DH doesnt take his leave. I am quite experienced with babies (although I do know it is going to be a whole different ball game now that its my own). But I know if I tell my mom DH isnt taking leave, she will feel obliged to come immediately. Shame she really doesnt need to worry. As you say - I have cooked a lot. There is close to enough food for 2 weeks now and I can still do more cooking if I need to. Other than that I already know how to do the baby bath, change nappies etc. So it'll just be the lack of sleep and tiredness I'll have to deal with...which I'll have to deal with at some stage by myself anyway.
I seemed to get a lot of flatulence from about 34 weeks. and yes, I also felt quite sore with it. Best is to just let it out!!!!!

Amy not everyone is experienced - but I think things do just come naturally once baby is here and even if it doesnt come naturally - you are forced to learn! you will cope fine and we are all here to answer questions, give advice and be a shoulder to cry on when our babies will be driving us mad sometimes!

Am I the youngest on this topic? I'm 26, turned 26 on the 18 of feb. I feel like u all so experienced and know exactly wat to do with your new babas and the birth experience. I'm glad I found u guys. Thanks bout the scan advice. So I guess the 18 of april is around my time. Such a long wait. I have a question. How do u know u having bh if u don't feel any pain. Wat does it feel like? I started feeling cramps in my last pregnancy the day I went into labour. Is that wat they suppose to feel like. The other question I have is that if u have spd can u still have normal birth. Maybe u can tell me shcatsie.
Meags I hope ur wax went well. And I think ur mum should be with u as long as possible so maybe she should wait till end of april. I mean u have cooked a lot and seem prepared to manage that first week or so. And ur hubby will be with u till her arrival. To all the ladies who post about their babies sleep patterns and feeding routines, I think its so exciting. I love reading that.
Iv got such terrible tummy aches , I think its flatulence.
Meags how do u intend on removing the grapes. Do u want to have an operation. I have been for the operation two years ago as mine were extremely prolapsed and swollen. They would throb. It is a painful operation and recovery is long. I think u should really try to keep them in control. Hopefully they go away wen M comes.
