Emsmom, please dont apologise for getting us excited.. I love excitement But Im glad spec can go a bit longer.. how intense are your surges.. wowie every 20mins.. interesting Have fun with your sis!! Im sure she is very excited about the new addition going to arrive soon!

Amy I am 38 weeks 4 days

They do do the vaccines at dis-chem and clicks but I have no idea about the cost...I dont think it's free - I think it is still a bit pricey.

BettyF my feet look horrid. I tried giving myself a pedicure the other day but bending over for that long really brings on bad heartburn so it wasnt very successful!

EmsMom you have absolutely nothing to be sorry for! We are still all very excited for whenever Spec decides to come. and as you say, hopefully around 37 weeks so Spec's lungs can develop nicely

Anje cant wait to see your belly cast. I was interested in doing one but decided with us moving so often it will probably just be one of those things that becomes a pain to have to drag around and will probably break along the way.

Kimika I gave hubby such a look last night!!! we were talking about his paternity leave again and he said he is going to take a couple of days for the birth (as originally planned) and then he said "then I'll go back to work for a week and then take 1 week off because I'm really tired"
I was like "EXCUSE ME???? you are taking your paternity leave because you are tired and want to rest?????"
and he said "Yes" like I was the stupid one!!
I explained on paternity leave he is suppose to help with baby, housework and cooking so that I can cope! and he said "well yes but all of that is easy and less stressful than my job"...so ya...we will see!!!!! I will definitely be waking him at night if baby is not settling easily!!!!

update from MistyMom - she is ok...still got the flu and will be on Moomie tomorrow - she just hasnt been feeling well enough to come on.

Betty and Amy - no the surges are not painful, I breath through them, and really they are not meant to be sore. I feel pressure and see my tummy tighten.

Betty - hope you have a relaxing night, Its hard to be heavy pregnant with a difficult toddler, I have to keep reminding myself to be a bit more patient with Em, as she must be overwhelmed by everything.

Oh Amy I am 27, had Em when I was 23. I am a lucky mom and things do actually come totally naturally to me. The trick is to not over think things. Do what your instincts tell you, 9/10 you are right, and even if you get something wrong, doesn't make you a bad mom, just makes you human.

Leaving in 30min to go fetch my sister!!!! Her flight was delayed by almost 2 hours! I was so worried she wouldn't make her connecting flight, but she ran all the way and just made it!
Cannot believe its been a year since I've seen her. I'm sure I'm going to cry buckets when she arrives.

Oh, and my daddy just phoned to say he would be back in CT on tuesday, so I'm extra glad spec is staying put for a while. He would have been shattered if he missed the birth.

Betty when I have cracked heals I usually soak them, dry them put on a thick layer of vaseline and an old pair of socks. I do that for a few nights. It really helps me. U should try it.
And some private midwives or nurses do give the vaccines. I don't think they charge for the vaccine, maybe just for giving it which wnt be expensive. Doesn't clicks and dischem pharmacies offer the service??? Suppose not hey otherwise there would be long queues there.
Meags I'm glad things are starting. How many weeks are u now?? Pleasse keep us updated. About the grape operation. It took me a month to fully recover. I couldn't walk or sit for two weeks. They cut mine , I had a good few. The reason y it is so painful and it takes long to heal is cos they don't stitch the area after operating. It has to heal itself. but I think u can worry about all that after baby. Let's hope they dissappear wen M arrives.

Things are beginning to happen! (although yes...I could still very well make it to my next appointment next Thursday).

But I am 1-2cm dilated and cervix is 70% effaced!! So at least when I do go into labour - I hope it wont be too long or painful since my body is preparing already.

I am really excited. The drive back home to tell you guys was SO long!!

Baby is still a bit high - so really need to walk a lot more (I actually havent been walking very much...) I think if I can get him to engage a little bit labour will be close by

Still holding out for my guess that he'll come on Saturday!

A long day at work..... Can't wait for the weekend.
Had such a hard time getting M to school this morning. He never saw Dh for 2 days and then this morning he was so pleased to see him, he decided it was not going to be a school day. Aah well I went to work fed up and thought I should get some rescue remedy....

Was just wondering how the new mommies are coping during the day, are you taking baby out or mainly staying at home in your pj's feeding and trying to catch up on rest?

Schatsie - can't believe you are 38, You look so much younger. Strange that there are quite a few older ladies. I guess people are just having babies later in life..
I had swollen feet and hands with 1 st pregnancy. Also I lost feeling in some of my toes and fingures. When I gold my doctor he was unsympathetic and laughed it off with well you wanted to get pregnant. Boy I remember being peeved.
What did ur dr say? Hope he gave you something to relieve the pain. A friend of mine had such swollen feet, when the dr saw her he said that she should have her c section that day.

Claire - I too have been waddling. I also am struggling to lift my feet to put my pants on

Kimika - do they do the government injections at private clinics. I remember with Matthew we spent a fortune. After the medical savings was depleted....

Emsmom- glad baby decided to stay in a little longer.. Sorry about the surges though. Is it painful? You must be exhausted, but excited that your sister will be here soon and also for the birth.

Mistymom- are you feeling better? Are you still off work. Did you take the antibiotics?

Anyone else suffering from cracked heels. I have been outing creme on so often but have a small crack on both feet. Oh well I guess they
can't take the extra weight.

Sorry I've been so scarce. Been reading everyones updates, just been far too tired to sit and reply to them.

Still am really.

Thankfully baby will be staying put for a bit longer. Went back to hospital today and while I'm still having strong and regular surges (every 20min) nothing else is happening. Cervix still shut tight

I'm glad to sit like this till 37w, cause every extra week in is better for babies lungs. Just sorry I got everyone so excited for nothing.
