I definitely vote for Lansinoh Nipple ointment! It saved me big time last time round with my boy. But like EmsMom says, breastmilk itself is a wonder if you can let it airdry on your nipple before closing up again. ... I'll still be keeping the Lansinoh close though One of those small tubes lasts a VERY long time!

Schatsie - at your dreams...! Its very common though and you'll probably have a few more before you're done, hehe. I've had a few silly ones myself and if you can laugh about it afterwards rather do so than let it upset you. Its just your mind coming to terms with all your fears and foreboding about being a mom.

Claire - Try the new Cranberry Citro Soda too ... I hate it in general, LOL, but it really works!

My sister in law went to a La Leche League class yesterday and she says it helped her sooo much as she struggled a lot with the breast feeding since her little ones birth a week ago. Apparently she saw that she did it completely wrong to start off with and they helped her latching right. I'm seriously going to look for them here in George and get to a class or demonstration or whatever, Third time round I want it to be a breeze and enjoyable from the start! Will do my best to accomplish that.

schatsie those are some crazy dreams! I really would recommend the sheild even if you dont have problems, cause they help prevent any cracking etc.

Kaylae we are just using olive oil for now, at 35w will start with evening primrose and then at 37 arnica to help bring on labour.

Lucy thanks for the nipple prep tips - think I have to start that soon! I'm SO with you on hoping to be in the cruise group with BF! I've always wanted to do it, but I really can't handle ANY pain! Think I will try the nipple shield thing if I have ANY problems (thanks for this tip Emsmom)!

I just have to share my weird dream from last night: I dreamt I had my baby, but it turned out to be a sausage dog (we have 2)! The worst part was that no one said anything about it being a dog, because they didn't want to upset me! Also, I was a terrible mom and kept on forgetting I had a baby, forgetting it in the room, then in the passage when going out, etc.. I also battled with the pram cause I couldn't take it down some stairs alone!

Then I dreamt that DH and I were looking at some old family photos and discovered we were actually related! LOL!

Gee, what an over active imagination I have! I think I have always had such crazy dreams, it is just lately that I am able to remember so much of it.

Kaylae - I hope you feel better soon - the perninal massage is basically rubbing oil down there to strech the skin a little so you can help prevent tearing.

Claire - I suppoe I do have the cot, and the pram. And my mom is getting us a moses basket. I'm hoping someone gets us the car seat. And then really just need nappies and clothing. I hope you dont get that bladder infection, you are right to nip it in the bud.

Lucy, I didn't actually cruise in the begining, Em refused flat out to latch for the first week. The hilter lactation lady in the hospital was NO help at all - eventually I asked what I could do when we went to the clinic for her 1w check up and they popped a sheild on me - she latched to that like a champ! So i've already bought this time round.

Best thing for your boobs is actually breastmilk, not nipple cream - just rub some around it and let it dry naturally.

Meags - Nipple prep included, no longer using soap from 30 weeks on them. Nipple cream. 10-15min sun a day but not at midday!! From inside the house is OK if no privacy!! Then she recommended from 36 weeks in the shower "expressing" colostrum, using thumb and forefinger in short sharpish squeezes around the areoli. Says this starts prepping for sucking action and gives 1st time mum's more confidence. Would you agree?

Claire - I thought the bright orange was funky too. Strtching is no longer possible for me, so doing the ceiling would be very slow going! Good luck

Emsmom - That sounds awesome that you cruised the breast feeding. I have no idea what to think. Some people have such an easy time and some battle so much. Just want to try be in the cruise group

It seems many ladies are using nipple cream ...... can we share which brands we prefer? I have been using samples of medela and Linosoh (sp?) Need to buy soon and not sure which to go for!!
