Hi girls.

Meags - Looking good! Wow, your tummy is real low for first time pregnancy, but glad that your midwife is relaxed and still happy with your progress. Also very happy for you to have found such a great midwife! She sounds awesome and I pray for you that you have the birth you wish for. :)
Re your hubby ... sigh.. I think you both are going through a hecticly stressed time the last few months. What should have been a relaxed, happy, bonding time for you as a family in making has been a rollercoaster ride of stress and more stress... Keep the faith and do your best, I'm sure all will work itself out in time once you are settled and the financial issues has been resolved as well. ((hugs))

Kimika - that consultant sounds like a brillian idea! Although Im expecting my third I know Im going to struggle a bit through the first two weeks... I end up with sore, raw nipples before they heal and toughen.

Jessica - my c/section date is 7 March as well! :) I'm still actually hoping dr would do it a bit earlier as its only 3 days from my actual due date... But we'll see how it goes when I see him again.

AFM: Kiana is really busy.... I mean, at 35 wks she is bouncing about and making it really uncomfortable, sheez.... She's also pushing down in my pubic bone really low! I'm wondering about that a bit... but Im seeing dr again next week Friday so we'll see what he says at the checkup. Having powerful BH as well every day. Not more than two an hour and not every hour, so that is still also fine.

Here's photo's of my 35 week belly: ;)

hi everyone

Meags - nice to hear from you again!!! Love the bump just a pity all the drama you're going through just adds to the stress!! (((HUGS)))

Kaylea - I'm with Kimika on this one! I would loose my mind being essentially "locked up" until the cord falls off!! HELL NO!!!! I was out & about the day after we came out of the hospital - purely cause I needed to get something from Dischem & DH was already back at work....

My EDD is actually 7 March (not 8) - my calculations were 1 day off when I went back to look at the 1st day of my last period..... But I'm considering a induction on 7 March if baby doesn't come on on his own by then...... Will talk to my gynea when I see him on the 14th again about it. But from week 39 I'll be trying the evening primrose oil capsules to "ripen" the cervix and eating pineapple to try help things along..... Curries, chillies & long walks are also options in week 39/40.

Well let me attempt to get some work done today - I'm HUNGRY and first need to get some food - can't concentrate when my stomach is rumbling!!! LOL (speaking of food I woke up on wednesday morning at about 01h00am STARVING - ended up in the kitchen eating Salticrax & those Woolies cheesy viennas and washing it down with OROS!!!!!)

Meags-Nice bump,I am also carring low like you but smaller.Oh wow glad that you managed to buy most of the furniture and in no time Matt's nursery will be up and running.Wow on the Monke theme.Mommy must give you rest.I didn't know that your birthing option was water birth,oh wow....I am so scared I wouldn't even try that.Hope you and DH will find each other again.Thank you for keeping me sane as I even stopped drinking the pills in believe that they made my baby stop kicking.

Kimika-That was too long for a cord to fall off.Believe it or not even after my LG's cord fell off I was not allowed to take her out till 3 months. She only went for vaccination(sp),meaning 4months maternity leave indoors    My LG also traumatized me when it came to breastfeeding, hope I can also get a tutor on latching cause if Tshami will also do what her sister did then no more breastfeeding for me.

Misty-Yay on DH coming back today.

hi ladies

finally a moment to catch up properly!!!
Lucy - I completely agree about the growth slowing down. in fact, I dont think I have grown at all since 24 weeks!!! and if I have, it's hardly noticeable.
Cath and Kimika - he has never reached up to my ribs?! I've never had the kicking in the rib thing...no idea why. He just seems to be rolled up into a tight ball as he hasnt dropped yet either!
So Cath, my midwife has no concerns as he isnt in the pelvis yet.

ok so here is all my news and sorry for no other personals. been reading on my phone but cant remember everything!!
oh yes one i can remember...Kaylae - the tablets you are taking will not stop your baby from kicking. you are feeling less kicking and more movement because baby doesnt have the space to kick their leg out anymore, only to move a bit.

so DH and I are not very close anymore. I am hoping it's a passing phase but honestly, I'm quite concerned. I'm hoping it's just due to all the stress and that once everything is a bit more controlled, my mom isn't here, etc, that we can become close again. We never kiss or cuddle at all. He has not said he's loved me once since I've arrived here. We hardly talk to each other when he comes home in the evening. It's really quite depressing and it's making me quite miserable being here.

But having said that, things are incredibly stressful at the moment. the company has still not transferred the rest of the furniture allowance. My mom leaves on Monday so we wanted to get as much done as possible and with the lack of money, we cant do much at all (actually we cant do anything). so DH transferred a lump sum from France to here, but obviously that takes a few days. By the Grace of God, the money came in today, so we have bought almost everything now. Just have to go buy 2 rugs tomorrow then that's pretty much everything.
DH is very stressed at work. His workload is intense, the finance people are pissing him off since they are taking so long to do the transfers (with no reason...) and nothing just goes right. We bought internet and cable for the TV. well, we landed up having to get a technician out to fix the internet problem. Now the cable isnt working. so going to have to get a technician out again. it's just very frustrating.

I ordered my cot today so that should take 7-14 days to arrive at the store. we are going to buy the "breastfeeding chair" over the weekend and DH will install all the curtain rails. we are having difficulty finding curtains as the sliding doors here are taller than normal so I might have to order online. Otherwise I have everything else for the nursery. Out of no where, the theme is "monkey's". Once my cot arrives, I will take photos of everything and show you ladies :)

ok so now about the midwife...
It is an hour's drive to get there for appointments and the hospital is apparently about 5 minutes from there. My next appointment is on 15 February. I have to see her every 2 weeks and from 36 weeks it's every week. But at 36 weeks we are going to see if I cant wait 2 weeks again to see her as it's really far to drive every week.
She is lovely. obviously very pro natural but also very pro "uninvolvement" (if that's a word!!). She likes things to go according to the mom's body and her choices. For example, she assists in the delivery, but is happy for the mom to birth the baby almost on her own and bring the baby onto her chest. She does not cut episiotomies - she does perineal massage. She will not push me to get syntocinon (artificial oxytocin) if my labour slows down. as long as the baby is coping well, she allows labour to progress at it's own pace.
So I am delighted.
She is the only midwife (her and her partner) who do water births in miami. and only 2 hospitals allow it. ok actually not water births...labouring in the water.
but she says she can give me a cue (like a wink or something) that it's time to push and then I can just push before there is time to get out the bath.
but even if I cant deliver in the bath, she is happy for me to squat or lie on my side, stand, whatever!!

ok what else can I tell you...
my cats are here. the first night was hell. the girl cried all night long. I felt like I had a newborn baby to care for. but she is fine now. took the boy to the vet as he had seen a vet just before flying as he had tried to claw his way out the box and his claws were bleeding and sore. all is fine with him now. they are still tender but no need to go onto antibiotics or anything.

OUR TRUNKS HAVE STILL NOT ARRIVED
yes...believe it or not. it's very frustrating. so we have been living in the house for a week with nothing to cook with!!!!
it's been a nightmare to say the least
so today we bought pots, pans and some utensils, 3 plates and that is that. now we can cook the basics.
as for all the baby stuff in there...well ya...lets just hope it arrives before Matthieu does! at least I have washed the clothes and blankets I do have with me from my babyshower but I think it's from 3-6 months.
oh well...

well ladies...I think that is all my news for now.
I am STILL coughing. Midwife has advised some medication (here there is a long list of stuff you CAN take during pregnancy - although I still feel sceptical about taking it...) and if that doesnt work by my next appointment, she'll give me a different antibiotic.

I am exhausted. my mom doesnt like just sitting at home resting. so every single day we are out from like 9am until 5pm walking around, shopping etc. All I want to do is rest...

ok well I hope you enjoyed reading my essay!

Ooo Meags your tum is still growing nicely :) Mine is also low like yours.. he was never higher and now is prob going even lower each passing week.

Kaylae, I would never have been able to stick to that rule where you cant leave the house until the cord falls off. My son's only fell off after 6wks!!! Can you believe it!? It usually doesnt take longer than about 7 to 10 days. But the clinic sister said she does see it now and then.. eish, hopefully it wont take that long again :)

I phoned 2 breastfeeding consultants today. My luck was little bit out, the one is leaving for France (holiday) on the 2nd March and the other is moving to the Cape mid Feb. But the first lady (France holiday one) is really my first choice and she said she can even see me the morning before she leaves.. if baby comes after that she will give me number for her colleague who is also great. She said no need to do a consult beforehand, I must phone her when Im in labor then she can either come in a hour or so after baby is born, or the following day. She will then help me with the latching and feeding routine blah blah.. she said by the time she leaves I will be ok :) And the consult is R400.. it seems to be standard rate. I def want to do this.. no way Im going through that latching pain again ;)
