Mommy-jes, I don't think that is correct. I really don't think they check your credit record. I might be wrong, but it is the first time I here that. Why would your credit record matter? You pay UIF every month and it's not like you are borrowing money from them or something. You just get what is rightfully yours. Don't know how they decide, but they pay out between 38 - 58% of your salary (up to R12478).

Wait, I got this from Tums2Mums site:

The UIF pays 38% - 58% of your gross salary, to a maximum ceiling salary of R12 478.00. If you earn above R12 478.00, the UIF will calculate the maternity benefit on the last mentioned salary. The UIF takes in consideration your last 6 months average salary. They also take in account your last 4 year’s of UIF contributions. Please note that for each six months you have worked entitles you 1 month of maternity benefits up to 4 months. The higher your salary the lower the percentage you will be paid.

Emsmom, ag sorry that your little girl is still not well! Why not try get those homeopathic goodies.. ok Im going to attempt spelling them: Oscillococinum :) hehe.. they are little "korreltjies" / granules that you just let her suck.. they are nice and sweet. I buy mine from Dischem and costs about R90 for the box. Then you have 6 doses which normally you take once a week for 6wks but if you are sick already its something like 3 for the first day .. just ask the pharmacist how she can take them. They are sooo good and totally safe when pregnant or breastfeeding. Only thing that worked for me when I was sick at 6wks! Going out in a bit to go buy some for hubby too as he is feeling flueish.

Mistymom and Meags (and whoever else is going to the babyshow) ENJOY!

Joli, IM MISSING YOU :( I know you are busy and read your fb update about being too busy to do all the work + photography + kids + being a wife.. I soooo understand that friend. Ill be thinking of you. I had to make the same decision over 2yrs ago when I fell preggie with my son and had to sell my bakery. Im a little bit sad about my decision looking back only because I miss my own little effort to generate income and I had a good solid established business and clients. Although now down the line I kinda have rekindled my love for baking and if I do it now I do it because of love for it and not only for income sake. If I make something its a bargain :) So I dont know if that helps at all.. But I just cant see you stopping your photography.. you are doing such amazing work and every photo is better than the one before it :) Good luck with your decision xxxxxxxxxx (hey if you decide to stop the photography you better still book me in Jan for a preggie shoot!!!!!!!!!)

Yipeeee its FRiday! :)

Hey ladies, well once again I'm up at 4am with a sick child. She seemed to be getting better yesterday afternoon, but boy last night did it hit us! She is now fully miserable!! The worst is trying to keep her in bed the whole day cause she tends to feel better during the day but then at night is really bad. I am hoping it doesn't get bad enough to take her to the Dr as she hates it so much and I hate putting her on antibiotics!

Mommy-Jess, with Em I did my UIF myself, yes you have to go into homeaffairs, but they actually let pregnant and women with newborns to the front of the queue. I ha to go in twice (cause my old work had forgotten to take me off their books) but it was handled in 10min each time and I got my pay outs. I think you can download the forms you need online.

Misty, I'm personally trying for a vbac, with hypnobirthing as my assistance. But should I need a c-section I will not fight it.

Kimika, I got my tommy tippies at dischem for R120 for 2, so maybe have a look their as well?

anyways, will try chat during the day...

ooo yipeee :) First time popping in for the day (although the day is actually over) and I have 2 full pages to read !

Anje, good luck with all the changes and building going to happen! Its going to be a mess for a while but sooo worthwhile afterwards.

Lucy, thanks Ill go have a look at Woolies again. Saw a perfect bag there just before I fell preggie but didnt want to buy before I atleast knew I was pregnant. And now they dont have it anymore :(

My son's nappy bag is sooo finished now! And he is too big for a baby bag now that I want to buy him a little backpack but all I can find is Ben10 and Spiderman and I just really dont like them for a little guy less than 2yrs old! Did see one of those really nice fabric ones at Babyboom in ligth blue with a puppydog in front but its almost R370.. so I saw a Mickey Mouse bag today at Makro for R129 and he loves Mickey Mouse.. Im just wondering if that one will last!?

:woohoo: Schatsie you have such wonderfull news!!! Im so glad you decided on going for the 2nd opinion and that it had such a great outcome :) Congrats on the little boy!! You guys must be over the moon with happiness! xxx

Emsmom, hope little Em is doing ok!

KarinM, enjoy your scan tomorrow and congrats on buying a stunning bag. Post pictures!!

Mommy-jess, sorry cant help you with the UIF issues. Ive always worked for myself from home so Im useless in that department.. all I can say is that Shooo I wouldve been screwed aswell if it dependet on your credit record!!! That really doesnt make sense.. you should actually get out more if you have a bad record since you need the money more??!! :P I think he made a mistake on that one!

Mistymom, oo learning from Meags is a blessing for all of us ;) Ok with my son I had induction at 39wks2days and had epidural. Went fab except for the vacuum delivery and bad tearing. So this time around DEF there will be NO induction. Also Ill try stay at home as long as possible before going to hospital. Im not dead against having a epidural again so will see how it goes when I get there! If I can go without epi then Ill try.. but not going to promise to be brave :) Im dead scared off doing the c-sec thing so will def try prevent that. Also want to NOT tear again!! :S

Thanks for posting the Take2 site.. I need to go have a lookie on there. With my son we only had the angelcare unit with the monitor and parent unit, not the sensor pad. So thinking about buying the pack with only the sensor pad & parent unit.. so looking out for prices. Also I want to this time buy a Medela Mini electric breastpump.. not going manual again ;)

I went to Baby City today because I heard they were having a special on the Pampers packs (which they werent). So had a look at the current Pigeon bottles. They have what it seems like 2 different bpa ones available at the moment. The one is that milky white plastic and the other one looks like its got the least BPA and is a kinda yellowie color. They are quite pricey at about R129 per bottle and not very good looking :( So comparing it to the great looking Tommee Tippe that sells for about R140 for 2 bottles .. not great!

Ok I gotta go sleep now.. zzzzzzzzzzzz
