The gynae appointment was quick and the staples are out! Yay I feel like a new person and can actually move around again.
Sarah so did not like the trip, she cried the whole time in the car and I had to BF her continuously out of the car to keep her happy. We decided to pop in at the shop, so there I was feeding her in woolies and disc hem and at the coffee shop that we braved lunch.
Had the usual people staring but who cares! Brining the pram with was a waste of time
Anyhow let's hope she is going through a growth spurt - she is feeding so so much...

Cath, I still need to complete all those uif forms. What a pain! Congratulations on your bond being approved and your new house! It sounds wonderful. Hope the conveyancing goes smoothly for you...
We will most likely be sending Sarah to crèche, as we did with M. Your are right, the price difference is not vaste, but I prefer not to have too many people in my home. I already get annoyed when our char lady comes in and takes over our house. Also the crèche is more reliable, what if nanny does not turn up? I also like the fact that there is more than one care giver at the crèche. All that said, I now need to find a suitable crèche.

Emsmom- how was Kate last night? Wow 3 parties- busy day! M has one party today but DH will take him and S and I stay home.

Meags - good luck with the feeder, sounds complicated

I had a good night last night. Not really sure when S fed though. As now that I can move again I let her sleep next to me and just moved her to the breast every time she woke and I continued sleeping. I could never do that with M. He used to move around and make so much noise at night I would get no rest. Also his sucking reflex was so great, he used to chomp away at my poor nipples. So so sore.

kimika you are crazy to say the least. I struggle to be ready and out the house by 9:30!!

Cath the meeting is on Sunday 3 July at Kimika's mom's house in Midrand. will confirm address and time a bit later but probably around noon I think

So I saw the LLL lady. I have a very long journey ahead of me and at this very point in time - I dont see myself completing it!
I am willing to try - so one day at a time.

I have to use the supplemental feeder - at least now that he latches the milk doesnt squirt everywhere but he definitely needs supplementing as he's not taking in enough from the breast alone yet plus he is relying a lot on the instant flow of milk.

The feeds are taking around 1 hour with him popping on and off the breast about 20 times. It's very frustrating and never quite sure if I am suppose to put him back on or not. She says I must keep putting him back on unless he falls asleep or moves his head from side to side. She says him crying hysterically is not a reason to stop. so I have to perservere through the screaming and keep trying to get him to latch which is annoying and tiring.

Anyway she said to get through the next 24 hours with the supplemental feeder and call her. Then slowly reduce the amount of milk in the feeder, then start using it alternate feeds and then finally feeds without it (must have him weighed regularly in between all these steps to ensure he's still gaining).

I told her I am coming back to SA in about 4 weeks and want everything done by then (ie no more supp. feeder, no more pumping etc). She says its a good goal. But really - 4 weeks is a hell of a long time. I think I can do it if he is latching and feeding but if this is going to be 4 weeks of hell - well i am not sure I can keep going then!

Good evening. Well have a few minutes at last! In a huge q at fish and chip shop so thought would say a quick hi.

We have had a lovely day just chilling watching tv. At last laundry basket is empty and house clean. Ryan slept most of the aftyernoon on my chest. He is just so sweet. Hope we have a good night tonight. Last night was not bad at all.

Betty, I haven't, but will def go get it and have a look! Today getting the last things final for Em's party. Then need to start on the Christening. The poo's will be nice and liquid till she's on solids, cannot wait cause Kate really can give projectile ones!

Cath, its wonderful that you are so comfortable with your new nanny, and great idea to let her come a month before!

I'm lucky that I get to keep the girls at home with me while I work. I may get an au pair in when Kate is a bit bigger though just to help out a bit.

AFM, Poor kate was so niggly yesterday, she woke every 4-5 hours. So eventually just stipped us both down and let her sleep naked on my chest. But seems happier today, go a few smiles this morning.
Got such a busy week-end. 3 parties tomorrow! Thankfully all calm tonight

Stunning about Reuben and am sure his nose will clear up soon you are so right re the antibodies in breastmilk that's why I worry with little W but luckily he has been fine so far but winter's coming so going to be extra careful. Breastmilk IS a miracle of nature - but Meags don't take that now as more encouragement to bf you have it in the fridge!!!

Meags! No man back to the bottle with you! M is getting all he needs from that fabulous breastmilk he REALLY does not need your boob!!! YOu need to start having some fun now! btw, I'd love to come to the joburg meet but lost track of exactly what was decided on on the FB thread except that it was in midrand! Pls supply details?

Misty ja I know the feeling the first time I took W alone in the car OMG I went through RANDBURG and EVERY robot was red and every time the car stopped he cried and every time the car was moving he was fine oh my word I was the worlds most pushy driver that day, just wanted to keep the car moving!!! Ja, it is amazing with the nanny - I go back to work on 20th JUne so wanted to at least have a month with her before I started to make sure she was a good fit. Also we got her through a referral from a colleague at dh's work who was emigrating so she was available 1 may so we thought what the hell. She is sooo good with william it makes me feel very good about returning to work. talk about being tired BettyF and misty - phew - Will is now as i said up once a night usually 1am or 3am but STILL I stay up wtih him for 45 mins at least and by morning usually after the 5am feed if he was up at 1am I am FNIISHED! today I slept for 2hous solid from the 5am feed the thought of getting to work is beyond me righ tnow!

Kimika!!! oh my word you are sooooo busy and sooo capable!! WOW is all I can say. I too got tired just reading your post!! oh lord imagine if one could be on maternity leave forever!

where is joli! I got my 2nd payment from UIF there was a big backlog (Surprise surprise) and apparently they swtiched to a system no one could use, give me strength.

Our bond was approved! So now just waiting for last checks and we may be in our new house end JUly or sooner! It's got a lovely servants quarters so our nanny said she'd like to live in during week which will REALLY help us especially when I may have to work late.

What are all you ladies donig re childcare? If we hadn't found Mandlo our nanny we would have had to use the creche down the road and THT would've been stressful as they close at 5pm sharp! and you got to dress baby and have food packed etc etc and it costs the same as a nanny full time!

Cath- yay on loosing 2 kg! I will have to start thinking of my weightloss plan, but not just yet..
Matthew hated tummy time, So I just left it with him.
William's nanny seems lovely.

Emsmom - was meaning to ask if you have seen this months Cape Town Child mag- it is full of part ideas etc.

Meags- the nipples can get very Eina Sarah also has not perfected the latch and my one nipple is sore.
Hope the LLL can give you some tips.

Misty- well done on the driving, last time I waited 6 weeks. But I see the hospital letter says as soon as you feel up to it- drive!
I used to have a little mirror above my review mirror which reflected another mirror so I could see baby when I drove. Must find that thing. I also find the night feeds the worst and wake up exhausted.

Kimika - wow you are so bury. I hardly get time to shower.

AFM: made appointment with clinic for Monday, will have to decide the vaccination route. Hope LG is gaining weight. Her nappies are wet often and have poos although not solid.
