Lucy, glad your mastitis cleared. My one breast has been painful. First because it was slightly cracked. Then it got hot and sore, not sure if there was a blocked duct, but I got lo to feed more off it and also changed feeding position. There were 2 ducts that did not seem to empty. It seems better today. And my milk supply seems to be establishing well.

Re the cat naps, I think I must still be in the "honeymoo" period with Sarah. She sleeps just about all day and night, only waking for feeds. Only problem is that she likes to be held all the time....but I still keep putting her in the crib, and she does get some sleep there. At night I keep her in my bed. Else I have to keep waking up to sooth her.

Tazzy- I remember these BF bags being really expensive....and in the end I never used the frozen milk, but through it away. I have not started expressing this time, oh not looking forward to it. When do you do it? After feeding? Or do you just create an extra feed?

Schatsie- poor Arno, they LO's resist sleep so much. Have you tried putting him in a sling?

Meags- well done on the breast feeding? When do you next take M to be weighed.

I got my beanies from Gerne yesterday. They are lovely. I put a picture up on her fb page - fairy heads. I must still take some more pics and will post.
Sarah has one glue eye. I have been cleaning it with cooled boiled water, but feel sorry for her when she wakes up and can't open her eye filled with gunk.
Getting my staples out at gynae on Friday. Can't wait to be more mobile and do things- like sleep on my side again.
M accidentally kicked me in my lower back yesterday, it was so painful that I had to cry. Aah the joys of having a c section...
M is going for allergy testing today and I need to take him back to the ENT. He has a nagging cough that wont go, and fluid in the ear still wont drain.

Lucy - Sorry about the mastitis. I was expecting an internal and pap at my 6 week check up but neither was done!!! ok I did have an internal but only because I asked her to do one! pap is only due in August - wish she had just done it while I was there but anyway.

Tazzy I wont say I am enjoying the BF yet. I'm very nervous still and dont quite feel confident he is getting enough! I am worried his weight gain will slow down quite honestly.
I have not used any of the milk from my freezer yet but I know you can thaw it out in the fridge overnight of place the bag in a bowl of boiling water to defrost it and then use it.
As for building up enough for storage.
Well sometimes I put it into the fridge and add those in the fridge together to make up a bag. But otherwise I would say you should be adding the milk to already expressed milk at the same temp. For example...express at 2am, place in fridge. express at 6am, place in fridge. once both the same temp, mix together and put in freezer.
OR
express at 2am, leave out at room temp. express at 6am, add to room temp milk and place in freezer.
This is just my opinion of how to do it as I think I remember somewhere that mixing the hot and cold milk can break down some of the proteins or something...
Yip the bags are pricey...I can bring you some in July and post for you if you want. Just let me know. I pay $10 (about R70) for 50 bags and the bags capacity is about 300ml but only has markings up to 180ml.
how much are the bags there?

Schatsie sorry Arno is on a crying spree - I do know how you feel and how draining it is!! Makes you REALLY appreciate when they are sleeping and quiet!!!

ok have to go get DH. so annoyed with him (AGAIN!). he is suppose to work 2 out of 4 weekends. so he worked the last 2 saturdays so he is suppose to be off this saturday. He is suppose to look after Matt so I can get my hair done. he smsed to ask me if I made the appointment yet as he said he WANTS to work saturday morning!!! I just replied saying 'well when will you WANT to spend time with your family?' then he replied saying ok he wont work...aarrrggg....stupid man

Tazzy funny you mentioning you will miss your gynae - I was thinking as we left my gynae's rooms yesterday that I will miss him. It certainly has been a very long and very pleasant journey which he shared with us. I would definitely use him again if we have a 2nd baby.

Schatsie - I hope Arno settles a bit for you. Its horrible when they cry.
Glad all went well with your gynae check up. I'm going to seriously miss my gynae. I'd been seeing him monthly since. March 2010.

Amelia is making the cutest little gurgles now. She is just so damn cute!

Hey girls

Apologies for being so quiet - I do come and read posts quite often, but never seem to get around to posting anything.

Arno has been quite the little monster... he keeps on being rather niggly and hardly ever sleeps. Even if he doesn't seem to be hungry, have a dirty nappy or winds. The only time we get him to sleep is sometimes after a feed and even then it doesn't last long. He likes riding around in the car though, so we try to take him somewhere almost every day so that our ears can get some rest.

So phew, life is rather hectic at the moment.

I had my gynae 1 month check up yesterday and all is well.

Meags - and defrosting? How do u do it?

Lucy - I know the feeling. Amelia has these little 15min catnaps! Except after yesterdays chiro session she has been sleeping like a dream! I'm definately taking her back next week!
Have u tried using the baby sense womb to world cd? I find it definately does make A sleep for longer as it blocks out a lot of noise.

Rakker - what a cute pigeon pair. When is ur photoshoot?

Meags - good job on the bf! Are you enjoying it now? I wanted to ask you (seen as though you're an expert at pumping and freezing) how do you go about freezing. Do u just pump and freeze straight away or do u have to wait for the milk to cool down?? And what if I'm mixing milk, is it okay to add new warm milk to cold milk that's in the fridge?
Reason I ask is that I defrosted a bottle of ebm and it smells sour.
I went to baby city to see if I could find storage bags and oh my they are so expensive here in sa. I looked at walmart and they are a quarter of the price. So I'll be getting my sister to send me some.
