heart Feb-May 2011 Mommies

Hi Ladies,

Bringing babies into the world is no funny matter.........after my heavy schedule.......

Here is my birth story:
On Friday before church I had the show...(It almost looked like your last days of period) and sitting in church I started with contractions. I can't even remember what the message was as I went into a zone. I was also very emotional (hormones)....cried the whole service through...... Left the church and went straight home.....(At this point I knew that the time has come)

Some words of advice to the mothers going natural.....try get some sleep before the contractions become bad.....you gona need your strength!!!!!

At home:I was lying on the couch going in and out of touch with reality...don't know how to explain it......you go into a zone!!! I fell asleep for about 2 hours that afternoon and when I woke up there, my contractions was about 20min apart for a few seconds but getting stronger by the hour.....
If I can describe the feeling: its like intense period paid and a nerve pinching in your back.......
My hubby was pacing up and down and also restless. He made food the evening and I ate well (I always have a appetite no matter what)
From there on my contractions became "serious business". I phoned the hospital to find out when should I come to the hospital.....they told me that my contractions should be at least 5min apart lasting 50 second........at that point my contractions was 10 min apart.....

I asked hubby to shave me and I got into a hot bath.....but I could not stay there for long.....was very uncomfortable. As the night progressed I used my blackberry stopwatch feature to time my contractions. By 3. O clck the morning I was in serious pain.......don't even think that you can sleep cause its just too hectic! I could not find a comfortable position.......I suppose its not meant to be comfortable........at this point I was praying to God asking him to help me......

At 5 the morning I was walked to the Lounge where my hubby fell asleep the night before and I told him that I want this over and he should take me to hospital.....

At 7:30 we left the house......(It was a cold misty/ rainy day outside....I don't think I will ever forget the somber feeling) got to the hospital......my doc was not available (flippen pissed off about it still) and another doctor came to look. I was 5cm dilated....half way there....the doctor did a internal and said the head was still to high....I immediately told me that a sonar needed to be done. When we saw the sonar Jaiden's head was at the top and his bums at the bottom (also pissed off that my doc nver picked this up) they then booked me gor emergency c-sec.......while I am still having contractions I had to sign papers (flippen nurses asking you all sorts of questions)
My discharge by now was brackish with stringy toffee in it (so yucky)
I was in theatre by 9:30.....had my last contraction before the put the spinal tap in................I must admit it was a relieved that the pain was gone but I did not prepare myself for c-section so I was crying like a baby...the doc put both me and my baby at risk!!!!
I felt my toes going numb, then my knees, then I was flopping all over show...the put the catheter in....and a setpill.....closed my face and all I could feel was them pushing on my stomach.....it felt eery... And at 10:04 Jaiden was pulled from my tummy.....I just started to cry......it was over . I did not see Jaiden ....they took him away and hubby followed...there I was all alone being sowed up.....nothing went the way I planned....I just broke down emotionally..
Then I got back to room I kept on asking for him....I told the nurse that I waited 10 years for this baby and I am sick of waiting. She told me that he needs to be bathed first and I lost it. Since when is bathing more important than bonding with your son!!!! They then gave up with this first time mommy and brought him to me. I immediately put him on my breast and he loved it. The feeling was like minora blades cutting away at your flesh.....but you get used to it after a while....I was so worred I could not breastfeed cause of my implants got a fright when I pulled Jaiden away and saw yellow stuff.....I thought my silicon was leaking. I Such a idiot sometimes.....apparently its normal.

First night with him was hectic, if you are a breastfeeding mommies have no rest like the botltle mommies, but it is rewarding. He was crying eh eh eh eh the whole time........and I knew it was a burp...burped him and he slept till the next morning at 4. So I think that cd I got with baby languages are coming in handy...

I fingers are stiff already using my blackberry...will give you guys a update as I am being released tomorrow.....hubby is extremely happy.

Morning girls

Misty TOMORROW is the big day! Can't wait to find out if it's a LB or a LG and to see pics!!

BettyF I agree, it's also lovely for just the 3 of us to be at home alone.

Meags strange how he can close his mouth around the bottle but not your nipple! Have you googled this?

Phew Mr is clearly going through a growth spurt and doing cluster feeding like the lady at the BF clinic told us! He fed 4 times in a matter of 2 hours last night! I really started feeling like a milk cow! :) Luckily I have the What to expect The first year book! They say it's a good sign that his appetite is growing and should not take longer than 2 days, but let's hope he calms down a bit today!

If the weather stays this nice we want to take him out to a restaurant for his first outing.

Hi all, happy Easter to those who celebrate it! Hope you had a blessed day with your loved ones.

Rakker- was just thinking of you, wondering how you are coping! Sounds like you have your hands full ;)

Newyum mum, congratulations on baby! Did you make it through the Service or did you go to the hospital once you saw your show?
I keep looking for some king of show or sign. Last week Monday I had a lot of discharge and was so hoping it was something, but alas it was clearly nothing.

Emsmom- Did Em enjoy Easter? Matthew had a ball, woke up wasting chocolate eggs and went to bed eating chocolate eggs- oh well it is only once a year..
How is Kate, has she smiled again?

Lucy- lovely pics on Tessa, she is such a beauty. How has she been? Afraid I can't take the credit for the bathing advice...

Mistymom- how are you? Did you make a decision yet? It's a tough one...

Meags- did you eventually get hold of the LLL lady? Poor show that she has made herself unavailable.
How is M enjoying his new bed? I must still take a look at your clips.. Will do tomorrow.

Schatsie- although it is lovely to have mom around, isn't it also wonderful to spend alone time bonding with your new little family!

AFM- had a busy weekend, with birthday parties and Easter celebrations. Had the family over today, the weather was bad so the kiddies had to stay in. They completely trashed Matthews bedroom, so I had to spend about an hour after they left sorting all the toys out...so not nice.
But it was great having everyone over, most likely for the last time before baby arrives. Only 4 more days till my EDD- wondering how accurate that date is... I never knew when my last period was, so the gynae worked it out for me. Same thing with Matthew, and he came 2 days late.

Anyhow going to try get some sleep in now. I think I ate too much chocolate today....

hi ladies

well we are still going with the sleep training. I wanted to try start his night routine tonight but DH wants to go to some park to walk around so will start it tomorrow night.

Rakker - shame for the rock hard boobie...I am suffering majorly with that but only because I insist on not pumping more than 5-7 hourly.

Schatsie - I guess it is a latch problem...but more so that he wont even try to close his mouth at all around the boob!? it's so weird...

hope all the other ladies had a nice easter :)
Sorry for anyone who is super religious...just have to say...
DH annoys me so much. His family is very religious and Catholic but he doesnt exactly go to church or follow religion at all.
So his mom said that she hopes he'll be going to church for easter. so guess what he does? he goes to church! just to impress her?! I think that's so pathetic...he should be going because he wants to celebrate God, not to get a "well done" from his mother

Just one quickie: :woohoo: Newyum mum, congrats on your little boy. Naughty little bugger being bum down! Enjoy every moment and come and give more details when you have time. Heaven knows, between breastfeeding, salt baths, pumping to get my 1 rock hard boob nice and soft, etc,I still haven't had time to write my birth story. But I promise it will be done before next weekend.

Gee Meags I agree with Lucy, that does look like a real smile, too gorgeous and what a terrible contrast to the BF clip! In my non-expert opinion it looks like he is really hungry, but battling to latch, so it is frustrating him terribly. I know with my LB if he doesn't get a proper latch quickly he also gets impatient and will cry, but luckily he mostly latches perfectly very fast.

Lucy Tessa's pics are too cute! Hehe, she looks just like Arno after a feed on the one pic - he does the cutest things with his mouth before, during and after a feed.

Emsmom/Misty I agree re having to get some newborn clothes - I had to go shopping after A's birth cause he thought he would be so big, but his 0 - 3 months clothes are WAY too big and so were the number 2 nappies.

AFM my mom went home for the weekend yesterday, so DH and I got to spend some alone time together. How nice is this rainy weather? We decided to spend the day in bed watching TV and cuddling our gorgeous baby!

Hope you all have a nice Easter Sunday.

Meags - I would absolutely say that is a smile, and a super gorgeous one at that. I actually cried watching your video. He looks so happy. I am sorry it is such a contrast to the bf video. That is poor form that ll lady didn't call. She knows your situation for pete's sake. I am truly sorry you are still battling. I think I understand what you mean by saying you feel rejected. It must be very hard, BUT remember he loves you unconditionally. U are his safety blanket. He loves the way you feel, smell, your voice ....everything. Bfing is only one part of it and there are valid reasons why he has battled with it and not taken to it. He seems very intelligent (smiling early) so he probably remembers to much trauma with the bf. Maybe try see it as him being clever rather than a failure on your part. Not sure he that helps but I am a silver lining girl and I think that is your silver lining. Hugs hun.

Misty - you are so close. What have you decided to do. Thinking of you.
