charnenay - it is not quite a Beau Brummel camp, but the first 24 hours after a c-section you are also not permitted to get visitors other than your DH/DF/the person who knocked you up/the person who is taking responsibility.

24 hours after a c-section you are flat on your back, you can't move unaided, and there is a lot of sanitary towel changing, you pushing the button to see if you can get more pethidine/morphine.

I just found it was easier to slip my robe off, with a sheet over me and a blanket - and then I kept the curtains around my bed closed for the first 24 hours.

Once it is time to get out of bed and get moving - day 2, then I would suggest more clothes as then you can move around and no one has to come and wipe for "susie q" for you.

I know we are making it sound like you will be the center role to a porno, but it really is nothing like that.

It is a hospital, there are lots of curtains and sheets covering you.

Staff close the curtains when ever they plan to do anything with you - so there is little chance of you flashing the gardener working outside your window - unless you really want to.

DO NOT GET STRESSED ABOUT THE NUDITY - it really is all very manageable, and you do not feel "exposed."

People have to get to your bits, and they need to lift a leg, or move a sheet to get there.

If it makes you feel better, stare at the ceiling and humm the national anthem.

You really are so distracted with all the stuff that is going on, that flashing a bit is really the last of your concerns.

Listen, your urine is running into a jar next to your bed through your catheter - I think when everyone can see you pee dripping into a clear glass jar, your dignity, he has left, the best you can do is order a cup of tea, and push the morphine/pethidine button in rapid succession.

I put a gown on during visiting hours. It's only 2 hours a day so as long as they've given you your meds before visiting hours you're good to go.

I kept my clothes on so no hassles.

Just a quick question: with this whole "no robe" on thing, I am fine with doctors, nurses, etc. coming to check what they need to check and seeing everything. BUT, if you lying there with just a sheet/blanket, what about when the visitors start coming???? Or am I misunderstanding something here. I hardly want to be lying naked when my FIL comes to see his grandchild!!

I am afraid the amnesia has totally erased all of my memories, C-sec wasn't so bad, but remember wanting to strangle my MIL and mother/any other female who gave birth before me because she/they didn't warn me about the last night in hospital and baby/monster wanting to feed for 45 mins every hour...

Remember expressing when I got home and the milk was red My poor nipples were mince meat!

Forget about warning anyone about the pain of a c-sec, that is no biggie-they can give meds for it, but they can't order you new nipples and even though they are raw etc you still have to put them in baby's mouth, remember wanting to cry everytime it was time to feed.
