Awesome E. It was really sad for me. I didn't understand Neil at that time. He was so distant. He didn't tell me about his mom and he was in the room when I bled out and was later was called to theatre by Dr A to give permission to proceed with the hysterectomy so he was shell shocked and he prefers to be on his own through stress. I woke up in high care alone. Really scary.

Shame man Juls. I was never really alone. DH would go home once a day to check on the cats and fetch me anything I wanted. Because of the room I was allowed a lot of visitors. Even my gran was allowed to come with my folks to hold Em, which isn't normally allowed.

Every morning Mat and Em would sleep for about 3 hours with her on his chest while I watch them or read or walked around. I hated having her away from me though and never allowed the nurses to take her for long.

I had a private room Emsmom, but I was very lonely at a time when I needed someone. My family were overseas. Neil's mom landed in icu the same morning. Dylan arrived a bit early so Neil was busy at home with the builders and getting last minute things so that the house would be sort of ready by the time we got home. Not good times at all.

I was as Panorama - I also had a luxuary room, which I feel helped - I had DH there 24/7 and we did the night feeds and all nappies together. My entire family was waiting for me when I came out of recovery.
Will make sure I have a luxuary room next time as well.

Oh as for the pad check. As often as possible. I think had they done one slightly earlier they may have noticed the bleeding. The checks are for good measures.

I felt so beside myself when I had my C-Sec done, I had spent the 2 weeks prior to Tay`s birth researching on getting her to turn as she was breech and Doc had been hinting that I will have to be cut.

It didn`t sit well with me and I was hoping she would turn, which she didn`t.Now that I read this thread ,I hit the rewind button to the faithful day that my baby made her grande entrance. I went into labor at 38 weeks , contractions and the likes. The nurse came and shaved my "Mona " and that after I shaved myself 3 days prior. Another nurse came and stuffed her fingers up my "Mona" , God knows what for ?? Then my doc arrived and checked me out and reprimanded the nurse for leaving a bit of muff behind, and she shaved me again herself. Needless to say I felt like a sheep being sheared.

Then it was off to theatre , got there and there were all these men in their scrubs all waiting with smiles on their faces and that freaked me out even more, I mean thats why my gynae is a woman coz I am not comfortable with another man seeing my privates.

They Lied me down on that slim operating table and strapped me down, the curtain was put up and one of the male doc`s came and explained what was about to happen.

I swear if he didn`t do that, I was gonna scream at feeling the slightest movement, coz I thought when they said your dead from the waist down, I thought I wouldnt be able to feel a thing. I was shaking like a leaf through the whole procedure and wasn`t sure if it was coz it was so darn cold in there or if it was my nerves.

I remember looking at DH who was sitting next to me holding my hand thinking Gosh, If anything should happen to me whilst on this operating table, I would go crazy, but nothing did thank God and I promise you guys hearing her scream the first time erased all the issues I thought I had and I was so grateful to the male doc`s that saw my "Fanny" and unsightly stretchmarks for helping me bring my baby into this world.

Different hospitals do have different protocols - however I also think if you go in prepared and you also know what you want, you can start insisting on being treated as a client and not a patient (I have raised this rant before.)

I also felt that when I went in with the second baby I had a much clearer idea of how I wanted it to go, and I was able to control the situation.

By the third time, I think I was issuing orders like Hitler in the corner.
