I agree with Julz.

The best advice a friend gave me when I went for my ceaser, was to leave my dignity at the door of the hospital, and pick it up if I leave again.

If you going to freeze everytime they pick up your legs to cleann your "SUZIE", it will most defnitaley be a bad experience!

Soetlief - I totally agree 100%!!

Julz I had a normal delivery with my daughter and thought that was a terrible experience in terms of letting it all hang loose! I thought (uneducated point of view ) that a c-section would be so much better and beautiful and dignified. I am not at all prepared for this and feel like I want to pass out and wake up one week later - baby in hand.

With my first baby I also grabbed the change to go home when the Gynae said to me that I am aloud to stay another day.

BUT! I was breastfeeding and that morning on the hospitals breakfast menu there were a fruit plate & musli breakfast. No one told me that you can not eat pineapple while breastfeeding, and even the nurses watch me eat along!

That night back home we didn't close a eye...We were awake the whole evening with baby in pain. We even phoned the hospital to ask them how many Telament drops you can give a baby (stupid we were, I know!!)

My question is just, why do everyone try to convince you that natural birth is the best thing and breast feeding is better than bottle feeding...etc etc etc....

Why dont they use that energy to tell you the realities of having that baby! I honestly did not know what to expect and was angry at the world for them not telling me what to expect!

I now make a point of not even asking a pregnant women these two sacred questions:

1. Are you doing it natural / c-section?
2. Are you going to breastfeed?

I will rather give them advice on what to expect and what to do when they get home.

There was this caterer girl who was on day duty while I was in the mat ward and she was so friggin smiley that I wanted to slap her. She would look devastated when I said that I didn't want her (damn) tea.

The one day I went to Woolies and when we got to the till DH asked me if I recognised the cashier. She was vaguely familiar. DH said don't you remember her from Milnerton MC? So I asked her if she worked there and she said "Yes Mrs Petersen". I couldn't believe that she still remembered my friggin name and that she had seen my boobies and pretty much everything else

Woolies cashier is a much better job for her. She can smile as much as she likes and people won't want to hurt her.

Shame tiv. having a baby means putting your dignity in a box for a few days. Either birth option.
