Shower is the best because your wound won't get wet unlike using a bath. I did my c section on the 14 July and at the hospital they encourage us to walk and they kept the babies at nursery during the night and they didn't wake us up for baby feeding.

I think these helped with healing faster I clean my wound using dettol just bought mechurocrome to apply it on my wound.

The slimming panties can be to tight a friend of told me abt cariwell but they are quiet expensive

Weird hapi, they have always encouraged me taking a shower. You just have to properly dry the area - it should not stay wet.

Jikes, I need to get that belt!

On another note. Anyone had an infected scar? Not badly infected. Just reddish. They said to clean 3 times a day with surgical spiritus. I am puting on mechurocrome too

oh, real reason i came on to this thread - whats the deal with bathing/showering after your op. I have a friend who had an emergency c-sec and she said after the op, the nurses gave her a sponge bath and advised that she shouldnt have a proper bath/shower for at least 5 days or that the shower must be quick but her back should face the water.

i found that rather interesting, what has been everyone's experience in this regard ?

hi there Lucy,

im going for my c-sec on tuesday and my mom suggested that i get those slimmimg panties as well, and i did. so this morning I thought, let me wear one so that it can start stretching... geez it was so tight. I started wondering if it will be practical with the c-sec wound... it supports the preggy belly so nicely though - wish i had seen it earlier.

Laliek I ended up using the tummy slimming panties from woolies and I am completely flat by my scar. No bulge or overhang. I think the benefit is you use your muscle a bit which is good for flattening.

Get some help- first day home my DH had to go back to work. I is great to have someone there that can help out with the small things. Making sure you eat, getting the bath ready for baby. Just being there to help, should you need it.

in hospital, always make sure you get your pain meds on time. Try to move as soon as you can! First sit up is painfull. This time I will try getting up as soon as the pain meds kick in. I think it wil make it easier and less painfull

cannot think of anything else now. My child is screaming his head of now, for some reason!!
