Panorama used most of Dylan's clothes I took with, but we were there a bit longer. They didn't supply any clothes for him other than the first outfit shortly after his birth.

True you need very little and you bubby can bring things that you need.

RM is spot on, it's all just suggestions basically for 'luxuries' to make life a little easier, this is by no means a hospital packing list.

I took 3 baby grows into hospital (Life) and they kept taking them off and using hospital issue ones so next time i won't bother taking any except for home coming clothes.

The reality is if you are going to a private hospital and you get a maternity bag, it often has most of what you need.

Other than the face cloth and my toiletries, if I had left everything else at home, I would been fine.

Tiv - these are suggestions of making it easier and what helped each person. If I went again, I would take a lot less with me, as I ended up having stuff I never used.

Your jammies, toiletries, knickers, and 2 x face clothes is all you really need - tick.
Your baby - most hospitals dress them with thier clothes, and have blankets. The maternity bag usually has nappies in it as well, but take a small pack of newborns and then baby is set.

Do not get confused with all the information - you really need very little if you are going to a private hospital.

The girls here are just giving suggestions of what makes it easier, or better for them - but if you took everything here you would need a venter trailer next to your bed.

Stick to the list the hospital gives you - I think Medi-Clnic has thiers on line. Also as said, 1/2 the stuff they asked me to bring I never even used i.e. breast pads (did not use) sanitary towels (they supplied a pack - did not use), tons of baby clothes (did not use).

Eileen it depends on the hospital, but I packed 8 sets which is the norm for mediclinic. Your hubby can always was and bring back.

Another question: How many sets of clothes do I pack for bubs?

Am I the only one who is totally and completely overwhelmed with all this??? I feel like I am not going to be prepared at all! I read through the whole thread and when I came to the end, I forgot the beginning!!

Julz- i was still in my pre pregnancy jeans when i booked in to the hospital but there was no way i could put them back on after the op, had to get Elwyn to bring in joggers LOL but i wanted to look 'nice' when i booked in LOL oh how different it will be this time around!

I also have a back pack these days with my toddler but i loved the nappy bag i made at first because it had it's own changing mat and i hated putting my newborn down on floors and wet sink areas, the facilities in this country are shocking even if they are 'designed' for nappy changing. and it has hooks on the back so it can attach to the pram handle so i never carried it anywhere.

have made myself a nice wider one for the twins so i can lay them both down even to change on the same mat!

but yes a back pack definitely became easier when C got older.
