Sorry to hear that you had a rough morning. Its never easy to have to leave a crying child at creche.
You definitely need to give it time. He will adjust as he gets to know the teachers and his little friends and also as he does more fun activities there, he will see the school as a fun place to be.
Kamilah was 6 months old when she first went to creche. We never had tears at all. Actually I was more of a wreck than she was worrying constantly about whether she was missing me or whether she was cared for. I actually spent two full weeks at creche just to see how well she was being cared for and to also see that she has adjusted. She is now two years old and only had tears when her favourite teacher resigned. She would not go to the new teacher but after 3 days of crying at drop-off she was happy again. I just stuck to the same routine of saying good bye: She gives me her dummy, I give her a kiss, say goodbye and tell her that we will see her in the afternoon and then hand her over. At this point, I leave and if she is crying I do nto go back but by the time I walk out of the gates (have to walk past her classroom window) she has often stopped crying. If not, then I phone in 10 minutes time to see if she has settled.
With regards to food, we get a weekly menu to see what they have been eating. A dietician plans their food and its really food that we would eat at home. So I dot worry. I made sure that the food was halaal for religious reasons and see that she gets enough of everything. At creche if she finishes her lunch and wants more, they dish another bowl for her and that applies to breakfast (obviously within reasons as I do not want her to pig out justbecause they dishing more food

) Lol! She gets a snack at 10 am with baby rooibos tea and then in the afternoon Juice, water and snack. I do send a sarmie for her that she eats at around 4pm as I found she is often famished when she gets home even though she ate snacks at creche so the sarmie helps her to wait until supper time.
Also with regards to the size of the class, there is currently 15 kids in her class with 2 teachers. There is one general assistant that does the round of all the 3 classes in Educare 1 and helps out when needed. The kids from the 2 class (small tweenies and big tweenies) play together during free play too but they also have structured activities for their class only.
I hope Jude adapts well to the creche. It takes a bit of time especially when they are used to the home setting but he will make friends and he will be doing fun things at creche and then he wont want to come home in the afternoon

Lol!
