So I went to look at another school today, what a difference! This is a actual school (not what I was into at first) but At least there are loads of toys out, many pencils puzzles etc! The opposite of the one he is at at the moment and also they get an hour outside in the morning and honestly I dont know how they fit anything in. It seems a little structured for me, as there is a lot of 'guiding', but it is only two classes with 10 and 15. And the women seems passionate!lol
I think it would be better for him to rather go somewhere where there is too much stimulation (although, there is no such thing in Jude's view of what is awesome, the more the merryer) than go somewhere where there is hardly anything to do.
I think you're right Julz the vibe is a bit off for me... but I also dont like the 25 mins thing.. also i would like for him to have fun!! This kinda feels like I'm dropping my pooch at the kennel... sounds terrible but I dont know how else to explain.

Memo I think you need to look at the day as a whole. There isn't that much time to actually play if you consider breakfast is an hour, then an activity, then a snack and play. Lunch follows and then a nap followed by another snack and play or another activity.

Many schools do have separate play areas which is great but many other great schools don't and it doesn't mean that your child is worse off.

If you consider what the children need to know by the time they start school, then it is easeir to understand why they do so many activities in class and yes often it seems that they repeat things over and over, but we know that that is how children learn is by repetition.

I think if you really like this school that J is in then this wouldn't be such an issue so maybe there is another problem, one that you can't quite work out?

As for refunds. Consider that you have taken the place of a child that would have paid the full month so I assume that if you leave early that you might not get a refund at all unless as you say they are not giving your child what they offered in the first place.

I suggest you chat with them and find out why they do what they do. Usually the school has a pretty good reason. I hated Dylan being upstairs in a smaller class when he started at this present school. I later found out that the reason they put the youngest kids upstairs was so that they could learn how to walk up and down them. Makes perfect sense now.

Memo where are you based?

If you are in Southern Suburbs, I highly recommend Lady Buxton. K is there and she has been very happy there. They do so much activities in the day. They can play with paint, chalks, they play outside, they have toys for inside, when its hot they have water play etc. I know she does all of that as often she comes home and they have changed her clothes and the clothes in the bag is filthy  indicating she was playing outside and rolling over the grass  Also all her activities in terms of drawing gets sent to us too so we can see what they have been up to.

I vaguely recall that you are in the southern suburbs. I might be mistaken but if you are do check them out :)

In terms of a refund, I would ask them to just deduct the 6 days and part with the admin fee although if you think the consumer act might help you, try give it a go. The thing is if you have even the slightest doubt about the school, take your child out! Mommy knows best afterall :)

Memo - personally, I would part ways with the R500 if they agree to refund you for the rest of the month.

Good luck with finding the perfect school for Jude.

Thanks, i've been checking in on this link every two minutes.. My shattered nerves.. I dont want to offend them and then have to leave my child there anyway. lol
I think it's the 25 mins thing that has snapped the cord for me.. I'm gonna go look at a school today at four.. leaving it all very late.
What about the 'admin' fee... (I cant believe it) of R500? Non refundable.. I know you guys are saying- duh its non refundable but there is a new consumer act in place and it's knocked at lot of this type of crap out the park.
