thats the thing with only kids, I think they are lonely and miss out on the joys of growing up with other kids in the family.

Maybe lets think what would happen to our kids should we die and leave them to face the world alone. My mother's death helped put a lot of things into perspective and this is one of them.

My first LG turns 9yrs next month, I had her when I was 21yrs. I didnt want another child.

until a year ago when I was sick and came back from the hospital and I didnt have anyone to look after me.
I have a half sister who stays with her mother. It was difficult for me as I didnt have anyone around who would help me with house chores while I was sick.

I decided then that I wasnt going to let my LG suffer like that. she needs a sister or brother. someone that she can count on when I am not around.

having more than 1 child really is hectic, ask me I have 2, just last night my boy was coughing up a storm and I had to stay up most of the night and still be fresh enough to come to work looking decent, I also have a grade 1 student who is always demanding her own time and wants help with her home work and not forgetting the husband who thinks he is the only one working and thus entitled to stress or being tired.

Yah neh, being a mother is no play in the park but its the most rewarding job ever, my son can sing now and it is so sweet listening to him.

Hi ladies,

I have always wanted a huge family and well...i am slowly changing my mind.

Some of you will know (from the pampers thread-ttc) that my hubby and I had been ttc'ng for a few months for a baby. We prayed, took clomid, baby danced etc and finally, I am pregnant (happily so and I feel blessed).

HOWEVER, after the last few nights of backache (especially last night), i don't think I want to go through this again. The pain is just too unbearable never mind the lack of sleep and frequent urination. Oh, how could i forget the all-day-sickness?

Ek is baie jammer, mense moet my net vergewe maar ek was my hande.

Hi ladies you've got a very interesting topic going here. My lb will also be an only child because I never wanted any children. Then I got married and everything changed. Married a wonderful man 13yrs my junior ;) and had my lb at the age of 41. I'm loving every moment with him, but motherhood is HECTIC. Don't think I will survive with more than 1 child.

I'm an only child.

I would've liked to have another LO, but DH already has 2 kids from a previous marriage. It was non-negotiable for him that have more than another 1 (with me).

So yar, that sucks ... but at least I'm grateful to have my handsome son.

Wow, this turned out to be such a deep topic.

I put off having kids until I was 35. It was due to my husband not wanting/being ready for kids.(Let me just say he is such a good dad and loves having a child in the house, not that we have one). My LB was born just before my 36th birthday (after 12 years of marriage). My husband said either none or two, so there is another in the planning, even in his mind. My sister has only one child and she blames my sister for not getting another. I don't want that to happen to me.

But, being older and having less energy, I sometimes wonder if I will manage. I honestly feel so drained some days that I can't imagine having to deal with 2. My LB still doesn't sleep through at 14 months, and boy, do I love my sleep!

Even though I can't see how I will cope, I can't wait to try for the second one, as Alexander is such a blessing and really enriches our lives. An as one of 4 children I also know how much fun having a sibling can be.
