Hi Ladies,
I am also one of those mums that only want one child. This is not a decision I made yesterday, or after my LB was born. I always thought of only having one child.
Reasons: (note, this is not to say that my reasons are correct, but this is just how I feel! ;)
I actually do not think I can handle more than one child! :) Although I love my boy to death, I find motherhood extremely hard... I have always been a bit on my own mission. I like independence, and don't like to give somebody feedback on my life constantly. Also, if I want to sleep/work/eat, I do so..So, I think that's why I only got married just before 30. Obviously this totally changed after the birth of my son! :woohoo:
I see a child as a special gift from God, and I embrace this so much, but like I said, I think this was my first and last child. Its so heartbreaking for me when he is for example sick!!! Imagine I have 3 kids that's sick/unhappy/get bullied at school!!! Okay, I know I am not building the nation, but just really want one child..!

Also, the responsibility is huge. This child is me and my husband's responsibility until his 18-at least- so I will dedicate my life to make sure I do the best with his upbringing and be in a position that is always financially looked after.

I suppose we are going to be one of those families that will always take "the friend" along on holidays! :)

Life isn't always easy and sometimes you have to fight for what you want, but always remember life could have been worse.

In the last couple of years I decided to appreciate what I have. Every year I listen to Xmas wish, just to remind me how lucky I am.

Instead of appreciating a crappy job, which is most likely only crappy in your eyes, you could be jobless living on the streets.

Instead of appreciating your husband with all his flaws, you could be all alone.

Instead of loving every precious minute possible with your beautiful healthy children, you could have been childless or sitting in hospital with your terminally sick child.

Fight for what you want, but appreciate your blessings at the same time.

Well my story is a bit different. I had my daughter when I was 20, she was unplanned and my mom was a t the height of her sickness, at first I looked at my daughter as a mistake but afterward she was a blessing to me and my mom, because God knew my mom was not going to leave beyond 40 so he arranged for my mom to alteast see one of her grand kids. I was not ready to have a child but she brought so much joy into my mom's life.

My second was a boy in 2008, he is my treasure, I was more ready for him and he is such a joy, I find that I am more closer to him than I am to my daughter.my daughter is my husband's child while my son is mine even though they are both our kids. I HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE!!!!!!!!!!

married for 3 years with 7 yr old daughter and 2yr old son.

I wouldn't have Dylan if I didn't fight life, but where would it end. How much time would be devoted to trying to adopt where it could be spent enjoying my current family. Purley my feelings though. Enough already for me I guess.

wilma - thanks for sharing.

One of my best friends is battling with unexplained infertility and has been trying to have a baby for about 3 - 4 years. I had to tell her that I was pregnant, with my third child ... When I found out I was pregnant, my very first thought was "OMG, how will I tell J!"

Getting pregnant and going through a pregnancy without any hitches, definitely makes you thankful for every day, and every day that you have survived, and so mindful of those for whome this is such a stuggle.

I am not always sure though that one should accept what life dishes out at you. I am more inclined to scream into the storm, and do everything and anything I can to try to get what I want or feel I deserve, rather than accepting what life has presented to me on the day. I don't really support the thought of "things happen for a reason"

I am more the school of "set a goal, and decide on a course of action, and don't let anything dissuade you from that goal."

At the end of the day I am responsible for my life, and I cannot wait for "life" to get around to satisfying my needs and wants.
