file Eight Medicines you should not give your children

I also don't like doping my child. I gave her "tandemengsel" that the pharmacist made up. After it knocked her out completely for a few hours and then again, I phoned the pharmacy to find out what was in it. (My mother said I must ask, because they normally put codeine in and it is really addictive.)

He then admitted it had a "calming syrup, fever syrup, pain medication and codeine" in. If there is nothing wrong with her, then why dose her just so that I can get a few hours more sleep?

thats fine kristin and if she is really in pain you can give some panado or calpol which is really safe if you give the correct dose.

That is horribly irresponsible on the part of the pharmacists. So teegel and such is fine then? I'm using teegel and it's working really really well.

I really hate it Joli. I am sorry but I also hate doping kids to sleep.

I guess my paed is very conservative with meds and even when Dylan had colic he said the drugs would help us not Dylan and so I chose not to use them. I guess that is why I like him.

Kristin it is about teething meds that contain codene. The ones that the pharmacy "make up".

I believe that if normal panado doesn't work then your kid should see a doctor rather.

Yeah, we avoid meds as far as possible !

The only thing I really give them (and forget most mornings) are their vitamins.

Then the normal things prescribed by doctors for various ailments.
But I stopped giving over the counter meds when I read an article about some of the ingredients and how all we are really doing is making our children stoned.
That when we think they have calmed down and are resting, they are often suffering side affects similar to an addicts - scared the hell out of me.

Wish I could remember where I found the article/what I was looking for when I saw it - would post it for you.

You will be really shocked  to see what people put down their kids throats, even the newborns. I see this all the time when doing shoots and sadly can't do or say much. It's scary!

Very sensible advice. I didn't see the facebook thing though. What was that about?
