Shame kimika. Dylan is also a small little guy (9.6kg at 17 months) and when he is sick he also goes off food. Luckily he loves his milk so no worries for us.

I just saline his nose. Not much I know but it helps to keep the germs at bay. I suction it too gently to remove the excess gunk.

I give him the sister lilian vitamin syrup. I was also thinking about the shake .. will go have a look later.

Shame Kimika. I use Viral Choice for my girls. Are you giving him anything to help with his immuun system? I give them Viral Choice for most of the flu season, every day, skip a week or so and then give it again. My girls are also small, but I don't stress too much about the amount of food they eat / drink etc. As long as they get something in. Maybe try that shake you get for kids to get something in his body? Can't remember the name now. Nutri something. You mix it with water (reminds of a gym shake).

Whenever Brandon starts getting a cold I give him Viral Guard for a few days, it is an immune booster, and while he still gets the cold, it is not that bad and does not last that long - this advise came from our clinic sister.

Ok so after all this discussion I have a question and some advice to ask..

My son is 13months and really small for age, weighing only 8.5kg now. He is forever (or so it seems) cutting teeth and gets a cold along with it. The last month he has had a cold, cut molars and got upper respiratory infection. Each time one of these occur he stops eating! Its so traumatic for both of us cause I feel there is no way he is going to grow while its going on like this!! If he was a normal weight I wouldnt have been so bothered about it.. Now eveyone tells me that as long as he still drinks fluids he will be fine, but he doesnt (and never have) drink the amount of milk he should in a day and drinks even less when he feels down.

Ok so now that you have the history.. he was just better for 2wks now and started to eat again when this morning suddenly a cough again and green runny nose??? He was fine yesterday And already he didnt eat breakfust or lunch! So what can I then give him to stop this damn cold so it doesnt get any worse????? arrrgghhhhh!!!!

yip julz and claire: self medicating is hectic...
by huge example, jolene and ang get nearly the same amount fluid as each other in meds even though they 7 yrs apart, but its cause jolene is TINY for her age, weighs like 24kg or so and she 10 yrs old, whereas ange weighs 15/16kg and she is 3 yrs old...
its so hard!!!!!

i do feel it nessesarily that people realise meds are dangerous but if given without dr advice or authority, unless something like panado or calpol...
