Zodwa, my LG also only took yoghurt from a spoon, but keep going. I know for travelling it is easier to spoonfeed, so keep trying!

Shazz, there is a book, it's called baby-led weaning by Gill Rapley, you can buy it from exclusive books or through kalahari. You can do both spoonfeeding and BLW but it really isn't necessary and if you do BLW babies prefer feeding themselves and good food as apposed to (in my opinion) jucky purity. How to start and all the things you need to know are at the start of this thread where I went through the basics.

Just an update
He still wont let me feed him with a spoon.
Now I preload it & give it to him. He takes it directly to his mouth, sometime it passes by his nose first :)
He dsnt take food off it the way we adults do, he chews on the spoon till the food comes off. I let him do that today. It took a long time for him to eat but he ate. No crying, no fighting, no hitting (me being hit).
He ate half of the soup I made for him but its more than he would have eaten if I had tried to feed him myself
He still hasnt had meat..... wil get around to giving it to him one of these days
The only thing he will allow me to feed him is yoghurt though..... strange

Hey lasies
Ruru can open his fist & eat the food on his palm now. It still makes me a bit nervous but he's been doing it for a week & is handling it just fine
Iv decided not to do BLW exclusively coz we'll b travelling a lot from next month till the beginning of next year & with hotels, airplanes, driving for long hours I wont b able to cook meals for him all the time.
So I re-introduced the spoon to him yest & boy was it a disaster!!!!! He was fighting to hold it the whole time, wouldnt open his mouth, was hitting me.... yho.
Preloading the spoon is not working great either coz when he puts it in his mouth he chews it instead of taking the food off it. Mayb I shld let him chew it till the food comes off.
On the bright side he handles textures very well. I can give him lumpy food with ease.
For now I'll spoonfeed him for one meal. Hope everybody is doing well & babies are eating nicely.
This week Ruru learnt to go from lying down to sitting up by himself, so proud!!

Justinek, it might be that the taste is too sharp for him at the moment. Just remember that traditional baby foods are quite bland, so it might be something he needs to get used to. I wouldnt worry about forcing it, as long as he is eating some fruits and veg (a nice variety of different colours),just keep trying to introduce them. As his palate becomes more used to different flavours he may accept them. Just remember that your taste for food develops as you get older. I eat a much bigger variety of foods now than when I was little. (although i still cant stomach gemsquash)
