Hi ladies

I breastfed my lg for 8 weeks cause that's how long I could stand it not because it hurt or my niples cracked, she latched perfect everything was just perfect, but I stopped cause it made me naar I couldn't stand the sucking it was too much for me......I couldn't care less who thought it made me a bad mom my daughter loves me either way and she has no clue what breastfeeding is in any case so if you can and you love it do it if you can't and it stressed you out leave it, I wanted to do it I done it and I didn't like it....

I think what you must also remember is that it is the BREASTfeeding clinic that we are talking about. They're obviously going to encourage BREASTfeeding. And it depends on who you speak to there. The older nurses are more old school - the younger ones I found are more current!
I remember the day I gave my daughter her first bottle of formula - I felt SO guilty - but she guzzled it down, let out a huge burp and slept for longer than I could remember. Her tummy didn't go funny, she didn't get any rashes, and we bonded better, because she wasn't biting me! I went back to staring lovingly into her eyes during feeds.
I know with my next one I won't be so hard on myself.
I like the way one of you put it: there's no shame in a bottle.

Meags - hope your time with your baby boy is extra special now without all the stress. Just enjoy him, before you know it, he'll be running around. They are babies for such a short time.

RM - *tsk, tsk* - terrible parenting. I would never allow my child to have such an unbalanced meal. I would at least make sure she had some chocolate as well :P

Meags you persevered for way longer than most of us did, and you can be proud. Matt will be just fine, he will adapt to the bottle, and Laurakim is right it means hubby can help. If/when you stop expressing it will mean you will be less stressed/ in pain and like you say start enjoying Matt so much more. He will have no reason to get upset etc :-)

Let us know how it goes Meags, you really are an inspiration.

Well done Meags. I kinda did the same thing with my son.

I tried but the constant crying and tension nearly killed me

AND bottle feeding means hubby can help ;)
