Hi ladies... I had a successful vbac... And i had an epidural... Although i think the epi in retrospect wasntbest idea coz my lb had to be taken out with vacuum, had an episiotomy too coz of assisted delivery... I dont think i was pushing very well lol.... All the best to those hopefuls :woohoo:

Elamsmom, I hate it when they do that, try instill fear! - You can get a hypnobook, which will help you! Also, if you haven't already - join the group on facebook - such inspirational stories!

Hi Anni & Elamsmom. Thanks so much for joining me I was starting to feel very alone!!!

Anni I really hope you will get your successful VBAC!
Are you doing anything different this time around to prepare for VBAC? Is your gynae supportive of your decisions?
Have u done a birth plan yet?
Whats your due date? :D

Elamsmom I'm so glad you are with Genesis and that they have a back up gynae. In CPT its hard to find backup gynae's for VBAC's.

For us it will all depend on how baby lies / turns as Kaylee was always breach so it was never an option. But she was breach from 20 weeks already, and this baby was head down at our 20 week scan so all good so far!!!

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

@Anni: Where are you having your Vbac? Best of luck. Let us know how it goes.

@Joybaby; thanks for starting this threadd

I am now 25wks4days. I am using a midwife at Genesis clinic in Jhb. I have only been to her once for an introductory session and for me to decide whether I definitely wanted to move from my OB to a midwife-led care & birth. Well, i didn't really need much persuading because I really really want a vbac & I believe that a midwife-led birth @ Genesis will be my best chance.

My OB didn't completely shut down the idea but I could tell he wasn't that keen about it either...he kept saying things like "we'll see how it goes", "it's still too early to discuss", "why would you want to put yourself at risk?" "why would you put yourself through pain?"...

I have my 2nd appointment with my midwife tomorrow.

I had a Shirodkar suture inserted at 13 weeks. So, my new back-up gynae will have to take it out at about 36 weeks I think.

@Hasie: i did ask you about hynobirthing earlier this year. Since it seems I dont have a practitioner near me, can I just get a CD or book and practice by myself? If so, Please could you let me know where I can buy these items. Thanks

Hi ladies,

I came across this thread now. My birthing time is nearing and I am a VBAC hopeful.
Just popped in to say hi.

DD was born via C-sec in Nov 09 due to FTP (actually hospital/doc failure to wait more like it!).

Hopefully my next post will be my successful VBAC birth story...

Joybaby, I'm in the same court as MM, regarding the HypnoBirthing. There are just so many pro's that I can't imagine doing it any other way. Regarding VBAC, the epidural thing is not true, but it is more beneficial to go natural as getting an epidural means you will be on your back, and that makes dilating and birthing more difficult. We also have a breach turn script that your practitioner can do for you if baby is not lying head down.

You wont need an epidural :) I'll be your doula and make sure you feel no pain:)
Although you can have an epidural with vbac if you really want, but I would strongly encorage you to do hypnobirthing instead. Better for you and baby :)
