@Scribblingal: I also heard that the occurrence of uterine rupture is so rare. But won't go into the details. I just personally want a vbac for myself. I didn't enjoy the post-caesar recovery period. I found it extremely painful & uncomfortable. and my caesar was just a total cop-out on my part. No medical reasons. The day before my due date, I just literally chickened out & felt that I was tired of being pregnant etc etc. What a LAME reason to have a ceasar...no other reason at all. & to top it off, I went into labour on my exact due date but was scheduled for a caesar that morning and decided to just go through with the caesar & I'm still kind of mad at myself for that.

Anyway, I live in Woodmead. so 14th avenue a bit far for me I will keep Dr Salli in mind but will also explore the Genesis option.

Yeh - 6 weeks

My gynae is Dr Salli. She is pro natural, she is very dedicated to her work and she gives out her cellphone number and actually answers it. When I was having Emily the patient next to me (her patient) was having a vbac, so she definitely does it. I think it also depends on what the reason for the first caesar was. The only issue I have with Dr Salli is that she works at Flora Clinic - just off 14th Avenue (near northcliff). But if I had to do it all over again I would go with her again. because when she called that caesar I knew it was necessary - not because she had a golf game lined up. Mind you it was also after 12 hours of labour, pushing and vaccuum, so it probably wasn't a hard call And oh my word I just made a joke about what was probably the most traumatic experience of my life. Whoohoo!

Whereabouts are you? If your gynae is still being hard-arsed, bugger him. Oh, and if he's talking about uterine tears and that sort of thing, I read that chances of that happening are not much higher than in first time deliveries anyway.

@Scribblingal: heartbeat from 6 weeks? Can you hear it on the ultrasound? ok, that's cool then. Might go next week or the week after.

I know about wanting to see the baby often. That's also what excited me last time and kept me going to the gyane religiously every 4 weeks. I don't know. Maybe after that 1st ultrasound I'll want to see the baby again and again and again...who knows? For now, I'm just feeling a lot more relaxed than the 1st time & at the end of my last pregnancy, I almost ran out of obstetrics benfefits and I just felt that I needed them more towards the end than, say, in the 2nd trimester.

I reeeeaaaallllyyy want a vbac hey. I have broached the topic with my gynae (even before I fell preggies ) but he wasn't keen. Like, at all. he started telling me horror stories (which I won't relay here). I was kind of disappointed cos I really like him. So, now that I am actually pregnant, I will see what he says...if he is still as adamant abt not doing it, I'm going to find a midwife at Genesis.

Who is your gynae that supports VBAC & at which hopsital does he/she consult? Might consider using him/her as well.

Elamsmom, you can see the heartbeart from six weeks. I loved the four-week thing because of the scan. It was so connecting to see Emily, and that everything was fine.

Which gynae are you with, and what was the reason for the caesar? Many gynaes are prepared to facilitate a Vbac - I know mine will, so if yours doesn't I can give you her details. But I know how you feel - I would also go the Vbac way if we ever had another one (if I could, of course). Remember, the second delivery is supposed to be easier than the first

@Scribblingal: Lol, when you put it like that... Just to clarify, that's not the main (not even in the top 10) reason why we wanted another baby. We've never wanted/planned to have only one child so we just felt the timing was right to extend the family now. The part about Elam having a new friend is just an added benefit.

Anyway, so...this is gonna sound really weird, but I'm like so reluctant to go to the gynae this time around. I have had the pregnancy confirmed by a GP but haven't been to gynae yet. According to Dr Google, I am 6wks4days preggie and with elam, Elam Google was 100% accurate. I'm thinking of going to gynae around 9/10 weeks when we can also hear the baby's heartbeat in the same consultation...

I guess I just feel that last time, the every 4 week thing was a bit much just to be told "the baby's fine" and for my weight to be taken.

Another issue is that I really want a VBAC so also considering usind a midwife instead of a gynae. But i do love my gynae...

Elamsmom, you made me laugh. Love your cure for the only child syndrome. Let me know if it worked... Although we'll probably rather get another dog or something. One of my friends actually did that - had another child to keep the first one busy.

The school we looked at is only open till 1, so we'll be looking at moving her nap to the afternoons, something i'm not really looking forward to, as she's sleeping so well during the day now. Your little ones all seem to be thriving, so I feel better now about putting her in one, thank you!!

Pinky, hang in there - not long to go. I swear, your due date must be almost the same as my sister in law's. She's threatening to have a caesar, just because she can't take being pregnant any more, although I doubt she'll really do it because she's young and strong and will have a 30-minute labour (positive thoughts). Think she's just gatvol and hot and tired.

Have any of you been away without your little ones? Pinky, I think I saw something about you going away? We're looking at taking the plunge, but I'm really stalling. It's so stupid, I know, but I can't bear the thought of being away from Emily for a few nights. Having re-read this, it's probably better for both our sanities to have a break every now and again.

ScribblingAl - Luke is in creche from about 7:30am to 12:30 - so we looking at about 5 hours! He is adapting pretty well and seems to be enjoying it. He is the youngest in his class - which I dont mind at all.

They are really good with him!
