Hi ladies
How are you all?
Pinky, when is due date? sooooo exciting!
Desiree: You make having 2 little bubs sound manageable...although I still have my doubts
ScribblingAl, I had quite a hectic experience with creche. Not necessarily with the creche but more the right "fit" for us.
Long story short: Started creche about the 8th of Jan. The creche is based at my offices. I thought "PERFECT', she'll be close to me, I can check in on her etc. Logistically it will also be much easier"... WELL! I thought wrong! My working hours are hectic at times and what ended up happening was that I'd have to fetch her at 5pm, take her home(in peak hour traffic) and come back to the office! Cos, with a toddler (well, MY toddler) working from home is an impossible task.
After this happened about 5 times, i realised it just wasn't working for me. Also, I don't know if I'm being fussy here, but I felt that the school was not teaching the kids (well, at least not Elam's class) anything. All they did was eat, sleep & play. Now, I'm not saying that toodlers should be figuring out the Mathematical theory of Pythagoras or anything, but I'd expect at least some age-appropriate stimulating activities to stimulate their development. They kept telling me that the kids hadn't settled down yet & they were waiting for the kids to settle. For over a month???
Anyway, so, I kicked into action & started looking for a new school: End result= Amazing new creche. Owner talked me through the syllabus/ programme (yes, even for the little ones), the different themes that they go through and what each theme is trying to teach the child. Found a mom who just happens to live opposite to us who is a stay-at-home mom & fetches her child from the same school in the afternoons to give Elam a lift home in the afternoons. This way, she can go home btwn 12& 2pm instead of 5pm which I felt was a bit heavy for a small child. (altho i do understand that for some parents, this is the only workable option so pls don't feel that I am implying otherwise)
So, yesterday was her 1st day at the new creche and it went well. She lifted her arms for Teacher Daleen to take her when I wanted to leave. Didn't cry at all. In her notebook, the teacher wrote that she only cried once for a toy that she wanted to take from another child (only-child syndrome)
Sooooooo, anywayyyyyy, you might have seen on the October 2012 thread, but incase you haven't. We're exepcting again

Probably only 5 weeks preggy and due date according to Dr Google is 30 September. That'll at least cure Elam's only-child syndrome & she can learn to share with other kids
