March to May 2010 Mommies

Ah ladies I have missed you all. Been quite hectic here - worked nonstop throughout the festive season. Have opened Moomie, started typing a post, and then got distracted more times than I could hit "send". The nanny's off till next Monday - will be almost a month by the time she comes back. I have missed the clean house, although I must say that juggling Emily and work has not been all that bad. I was dreading it pre-December. I am thoroughly enjoying my little girl now and we definitely have more good days than bad, which does a lot for the I-can-do-this-mothering-thing thing.

We have been swimming quite a bit. I was uhmming and ahing about taking Em for swimming lessons but Daddy is doing a fantastic job. She has armbands and is getting more confident in the water, so we'll play it by ear. I'm still petrified of the pool and her. Handled a LOT of drowning stories in the last few weeks, but we have the net and the security gates.

How are you all? Please regale us with your holiday tales of sun and sand. I'm off the last week of Jan, thank the stars. Although I'm not sure we'll be doing anything. There is talk of us going away on our own, sans Em, but I'm not so sure that I'm comfortable with my mother in law moving in for a week.

And of course being away from her will be hard. Good for us but hard on us.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It was awesome to spend a 2nd Christmas with Luke - this year he knew how to open his gifts - but this did not stop his uncle from helping him open them! LOL!

Oh Bronz, Feb is around the corner! Did not even know you had left CPT! Im sure Graeme will be fine with his speech, just give him time.

This side... things are good. I have been house sitting my best firends place and it has been alot of fun - enjoying the freedom Luke and I have had away from home but also missing home (even tho I do go there everyday to drop Luke off and pick him up again). A bit of a mission with all the up and down travelling but alot of fun too.

Luke's newest thing is calling me by his name and he cant pronounce the "L" sound yet so he walks around and calls me "Banche" LOL. If he wants anything opened, a door, a jar, a bottle... seriously anything he says "open door".

He starts creche on the 1st of Feb - only half day but I am sooo excited for him - another milestone and something different, I am hoping it will help him - hopefully he will settle down a little and not be so busy... some days I dont know how to keep up with him.

He will also be seeing the eye specialist again early Feb. Hoping for some good news.

Anyway, let me gtet working. Its Friday, its weekend and this day better go quickly!

We are doing well. Up in joburg till we go to the states, not sure when exactly. We think it will happen in about feb.

Graeme is doing well growing up beautifully. His speech is coming along slowly, but understands lots.

This side things are okey - This Friday it will be a year since my dad passed away - cant believe it has been a year already.

I failed my drivers - cried my heart out and rebooked! I hit a pole with reverse parking!

Luke is doing well - was starting to sleep through but that has been nicely disrupted with 2 molars that have cut thru in the last 3 or so weeks!!

Got to run... he is screaming blue murder...

Pinky, I've been a bit useless. Do you still want the phone no? I'll message it through to you. My nanny says that she (Yvonne) has a day free, so maybe it will work out.

Beansmom, good luck with the packing. We still have some unopened boxes. If they're still unopened in a few months time I'm going to chuck 'em as is. Had such a giggle at Tayla and Graeme "helping" with the packing/unpacking - we had the same thing here. You may be pleasantly surprised at the settling - Emily settled quicker than the big people.
