@Isha: the flight is 1hr30mins long. Most times i feels like forever cos she gets so resteless and wants to walk around the plane and kicks the seat of the person infront of her and when the food comes, she spills stuff and just causes havoc. The only time i really have a peaceful flight with her is if she sleeps.

@Belaine: you can fly with a newborn at any time. a newborn is nicer because they will normally just sleep the whole way after a bottle/breast feeding. A TODDLER on the other hand is a bit of a nightmare. Especially active toddlers like mine.

@RobynC: I am trying my best to understand where your husband is coming from, but I just can't. We all secretly hope for a specific gender & I know men always like to have a boy child but Jeez! Nobody has control over whether you end up with a girl or a boy. INFACT, the female carries XX chromosomes and it is actually THE MALE who carries the XY chromosome so if his X sperm reaches the egg 1 st, it will be a girl and if his Y sperm reaches the egg 1st it will be a boy. Nobody has any control over this! If he does however want to blame anyone, he can blame himself! because he is the one (NOT YOU) who determines the baby's gender!

I know he may be disappointed and it is only human to feel this way and maybe he is just not good at dealing with his feelings, but he is being really really unfair to you making you feel as if you have failed him in some way! And to practically ignore you and HIS daughter??? You are pregnant and don't need any unnecessary stress.

Please try to talk to him or get a family member to talk to him. He is human and allowed to feel what he feels and work through his feelings just like anybody else, but this is just extreme. To say that he doesn't know if/when he'll be able to accept the baby? That must be HEARTBREAKING for you!!! I would be absolutely devastated! I'm sorry you are going through this. Big HUGS!

Hi ladies

The technicians at a foetal assessment centre are specifically trained to look for anomalies and gender, so they
can easily see at 12weeks (was quite obvious to us as well when she explains what to look for)

Unfort, I'm not doing well mentally/psychologically
I'm over the moon we're having another girl, but DH is NOT!!!
He is so upset/angry almost disgusted that it's antoher girl, I really don't know what to do
I've never seen him like this?!
He has pretty much ignored me and Dakota since we got home on Fri after the scan and on Sat
(he even punched the wall at home! )
He said instead of this being the happiest day for him, it was the worst!! (even worse than when I MC'ed)
He doesn't know when he will accept it - but I have to walk on egg shells with D until then!

We had a nice weekend away at a spa near Franschhoek - very relaxing (got a bit sunburnt  )
but it was only nice when we were with BIL&wife - if we were alone, he went back into his mood
and only pretended to be happy when we were altogether

Plus, when we went to pick up D from MIL, her dog just died (had it for 15 years!!) - her other dog attacked it
and it died on Mon morning!!

AND, D had such a high temp last night - she didn't eat anything since 15h00 and just tried to sleep but woke up every hour crying, so none of us got any sleep

What a rollercoaster weekend!!
I'm exhausted, sad and heartsore when I'm meant to be excited!!

Hi there

Jb dr just said nope not showing the gender and joked that we can wait till the end of pg.

Jb love the pics, thanks

I've bought my 1st maternity jean at woolies this weekend.

we've assemble the campcot last night very happy me and dh cant wait for lo to come. we were at friends the weekend and the have a 8month lb and we loved him.

According to everyone im still small and you can hardly see im pg i notice it when im naked or in my nighties.

see that most of you are 2nd time moms please help me, do i need to buy and extra mattress for the campcot? and how long i use the basinet ( the top part)

i've decided to go the TT route, my friend use Dr brown and after the weekend i have decided im not going that route you have all those small parts to clean etc and its free flow so you need to keep your eye on your baby the whole time ( i know you do it anyway but like she cant give him bottle when she is alone in the car)

hectic at work taking a break now.

Also having a peaceful weekend this easter so looking forward to it!! although i want to sort out the cupboards to get baby's things sorted.

Elamsmom enjoy weekend and goodluck with the flight where in the eastern cape you are going?

My bil got engaged and app they getting married this oct, they are in eastern cape don't think we will go as my lo will be just about 4-6wks, how soon can you travel so far?

JB good luck with the packing and moving to the inlaws, now way i will move in with mine.

isha and monica im also getting paranoid and dont tell dh all my scares. im scared i dont know what to to and will be a bad mom etc and how we going to get everything sorted for our lo and dont get me started on the pg, what to get and why dont i feel my baby yet, shouldnt i have a bigger bump etc etc.

Its getting cooler now so happy about it.

Kaylee is super cute!

LOL yes Girly, we in it together again. My LG is also very very tiny also just over 9kg. Struggle to get clothes for her. (she has a huge tummy LOL) :)
I also did some shopping for Q at Mr P on saturday, they usually have good marked down things. Got her jeans for like R29. :woohoo: i love a bargain.

Im looking for tracksuits but with a zip top, cause Q usually gets so hot that she never wears the hoodie track tops for long. Ackermans is so expensive with their zip top tracksuit sets like R89 + for a suit. I will have to go and have a look at pep this weekend.

Few elderly people (like Dh granma and work colleagues) have been tealling me they can notice im pregnant. My face looks different  . Not so sure about that but anyway. Just told my manager and he is acting like a proud grandfather. LOL

Elamsmom: how long is your flight, i have such a fear of travelling alone with my LG cause she can also act up sometimes.

Hi mommies.
I love coming online and seeing posts to read!!! It helps me to procrastinate :D

Elamsmom I guess I understand where he's coming from, DH would feel the same re cost of scans. Do they do the stitch in gynae's rooms? Dont you go to a day ward in hospital for that? That way it would be part of ur hospital plan?
Just do what's best for you and baby please hun.
Oh wow you must enjoy your trip, the eastern cape is gorgeous! Where do u stay btw? What time is ur flight? Good that you're flying and not driving. Easter traffic is scary!

Isha yay! So glad we can do this together again :) K is very well! Still tiny (just over 9kgs) but very busy, and speaking up a storm! And your little one?

PS I'm so glad we all seem equally paranoid about this pregnancy!
Until 8 weeks I often got lower back pain but since last week that's been gone. So ofcourse I start freaking out about the disappearing symptoms!
But my tummy is definitely getting bigger now, I cannot button my pants. But maternity pants I find are way too big to wear until one has a proper bump to hold up the pants. Bleh.
I need to sort out my clothes. We have to move in with inlaws for a few months, once we have tenants. So I must pack clothes that I can wear in pregnancy, in winter. I only have 2 pairs of jeans that I'll keep, and 2 pairs of work pants, the rest must be packed away and will hopefully fit after the pregnancy!
Tops are the same cos over my tummy they are getting tight. If it weren't for the snug fitting clothes I'd never have known nytummy was getting bigger cos I just look fat.

So yesterday the agent came to show ppl our house. It was the first time she met me but she knows I'm pg, just not how far along. So sweet of her she patted my bump and told me I looked cute. Didnt have the heart to tell her she was just patting my fat and that my bump wont be around for a while still ;)

I bought K some lovely tracksuit sets at pep stores now for R40 each. Last winter she lived in tracksuits and I plan on doing the same this time especially at the daymom. They are super comfortable. I bought 3 sets, a pair of stretch cordroy pants, a gown and pj's and slippers, and a pants & top set for R280. It should be enough to get her through winter, cos we've also been given some stuff from friends which will be for later on in winter. Very chuffed with my purchases for such a cheap price. There's no point spending more when it wont be fitting her next winter anymore.

Welcome Isha

Congrats on your pregnancy!!! I almost lost my LG at 17 weeks, just started bleeding and was told it was a "threatening miscarriage". so I had to get a Shirodkar stitch put in to prevent cervix from opening. I had no pain though. Just quite a lot of bleeding. So gynae advises that I put in the stitch with this pregnancy as well before the same thing happens again.

@Joybaby: I know I will feel a lot more comfortable when stitch is in but my DH wants us to wait till 16 weeks (2 weeks time) so that when we go in for the sticth, we can also find out the gender of the baby at the same time. I think he feels that we are going to gynae too often since I was there last week as well :( I will have to think about it and make my own decision.

I can't wait till the long weekend. We are travelling to the Eastern Cape. I am looking forward to a change of scenery and the relative tranquility of the Eastern Cape. I hope Elam behaves on the plane. She can be a real monster sometimes. I hope she will sleep!
