Joybaby, you are a strong person. I don't think I would have survived what you and your family went through. I cry when my baby has ear infection and that is nothing compared to open heart surgery...... Here's to wishing you a super smooth, problem-free pregnancy and a happy healthy baby!!!

I live in Pretoria but my hubby but we are out of the country because hubby is a diplomat. Coincidently, I will be heading home tomorrow and I am so looking forward to it even if it will be just for 1 month.

I told hubby today I have no intentions of breastfeeding and he went mad....... Or am I mad for thinking this way? I did it for 2 months and had to have an operation so the thought of it scares me a bit..??? I am also quite happy with a C-section. The women here look down on women like me who do not mind being cut. Aargh, I guess I feel that I am at that point in my life where I just don't care what others think and I am not a superwoman. I take my hat off for those ladies that can go natural.......dit is freeslik seer!!!

Robyn thanks for joining us :)
Nice to have a friend here!

Did your medical aid pay for your scan or not? I'm really hoping they cover it cos I cant really afford it now but really do need to go for one.
I've heard good things about the Kingsbury centre too. I will ask K's cardiologist which one he recommends when we see him in 3 weeks time. Did u manage to get a booking after seeing ur gynae or did u book in advance?

Mrs S H thanks. It's been hard, but we get through which is what matters.
Yes I was home with her for 9 months before I started working again. Was definitely much harder to get into.
I dont know about anyone else, but since having K I feel dummer. Slower to react, more forgetful, slower to do things in general. Is it just me?

Woohoo so glad to hear everything went well!
When we didnt hear back from you yesterday I was starting to stress just a little.
So glad little one is doing well and looking good. And so awesome you are happy with your new gynae as well! He sounds awesome! So happy for you!
He is probably the most popular gynae in DMC now that Dr White isn't practicing here anymore.
I remember how amazing the 12w scan was compared to the 8w scan, but all were awesome!

Feeling a bit sad now as I just had to give our domestic notice :(

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Hi ladies,

@ Joybaby - oh my word, that's so hectic! I'm so glad the surgery went well! It must have been terrifying for you! Good luck with her recovery and I pray that she will keep healthy for a long time! Wow, and whilst this was all going on, you also had problems with your c-sect cut...no wonder this pregnancy is making you nervous - I'd be a wreck! But at the same time, no two pregnancies or children are the same and I'm sure that you will have a healthy happy baby in the end.

I've also had a look on our internal vacancies page and the only have an Accountant 12 month contract position open in Finance at the moment. If I do see anything that might fit your profile, I'll let you know. They are quite good at updating the careers website, but I'll also keep an eye out. Good luck! Finding work is a pain in the butt, starting work after maternity/SAH is hellish, but you get used to it I guess.

@ Elamsmom - I love the sound of the Genesis clinic. It sounds so tranquil and like a great environment to have a baby. But the midwife thing also freaks me out. Chat to your gynea and if he won't, see if you can find another that will.

@ Robyn_C - congratulations! Here's to a happy and healthy pregnancy. Amazing how some pregnancies are just polar opposites of each other. Although, I digress, mine has been exactly the same.

AFM - So I went to the gynea yesterday and it's official, I am pregnant. hehehe. No on a serious note, bean is 8 weeks and 5 days old today, my due date is 7 October and everything is as it should be. I love my new gynea. He is a chatterbox and so enthusiastic about the pregnancy. We really had a nice chat, simply touching on subjects like how I want to birth, whether it's worth going to a specialist for the scans and he was even keen to wager on the sex of the baby to keep it light! Very nice. He took quite a few scan pics, but now it's just a little bean. The umbilical cord has formed and everything is just fine and dandy. Him and DH also seemed to click - my previous gynea didn't involve him as much - so he loved it.

So all's good! Yay!

Hi Ladies

JoyBaby - joining you again

My dd is 8 Oct (currently 8wks) and have an 18m daughter Dakota, so they will be 2 years apart
My 1st preg went without a hitch - no MS at all, but this one started off pretty bad with
hectic MS all day, dizzy spells like crazy etc (altho it has seems to have stopped now, so holding thumbs!)
D was natural so am going for that again (but not the 25hour labour and a failed epi - not fun!)
We're waiting til 12wk to tell everyone, but it's getting difficult to hide the bump already ( :S )
yikes!!
I'm also in Cpt - Southern Suburbs

Belaine - I suggest you get a small tub of different creams to try on your baby - each bum  is different
We tried Bennetts, Fissan, Bepanthan, Sudacrem etc and found out which worked for her skin

Morning ladies

@Joybaby, I'm a CA working as a Transactor in Nedbank's Aquisition & Leveraged finance division. We occassionally need to present deals to our Executives and to the credit committe in order to get them approval & we also meet with clients quite a bit so they wanted us to improve our presentation skills. Bleh! They should have done it within working hours. 5-8pm for a month of Mondays  As if Monday wasn't difficult enough. But anyway. its over now.

I forgot to take my progesterone tablet last night :( I hope it won't have a negative effect. I took it as soon as i realised except that was at about 4am this morning. The I just took this mornings one now.

I think I'm starting to get a bit more clarity on the vbac situation. I think, as much as I love the Genesis idea, the fact that the gynae already picked up some placenta issues and put me on progesterone is making me a tad bit nervous because I doubt a midwife would have picked it up since it was picked up via ultrasound. So, I'm now leaning towards having a vbac at Sunninghill hospital. It is a more controllled environment and the gynae & theatres are right there should the need for a caesar arise.

The only obstacle now is my gynae. But my mind is made up & i think at our next appointment, I am going to make it clear to him that he needs to make a decision so that I know whether I need to find a new gynae or not. It's really as simple as that...

@Joybaby: crossing fingers that they choose you for the job. being one of the last 2 people on the shortlist! That is already a huge achievement. It means they already like you. Lets just hope you have that one extra special thing above the other candidate that will seal the deal.

We have a parents evening at my daughters creche this evening. Too cute! I've never been to a parents evening before  Kind of exciting :)
